Amy's New Start : Comments Welcome!

Yay on the loss!!!:yay::cheer2::woohoo: And that 15lb star!!! :thumbsup2

I know what you mean, DS didn't turn in 4, yes 4 assignments in English and went from an A to a C right as the 3rd quarter grading period ended. What can you do...

Have a great time, I know you are in the zone mentally and will find a balance between enjoying yourself and staying on track for the most part. :goodvibes

Congrats on your star, great job! :thumbsup2

Hope you're having a great trip - can't wait to hear about it when you return.

Thanks everyone. I am here in WDW and we are having a wonderful time. We were at Epcot today, we got quite a bit done in spite of the crowds and yesterday was AK. It rained like cats and dogs there, by late afternoon everything but Dinosaur and ITs Tough to be a Bug were closed so we just left. We had fastpasses for Exepedition Everest that we never did get to use. So for sure we'll go back there and get that done. Today started off raining but then got very nice, but cool and windy. We decided to leave Epcot early , the kids wanted to swim (did I mention its sort of cold and windy?) so I let them, Dan needed to work and I sat on a chair bundled up and had a few drinks and chatted with my brother. Very nicee;) Dan got some not so great news from work literally as we were leaving for the airport, not sure what will happen and how much longer he will have a job, but I can't worry about it. Frankly, the timing stunk, but then again, it was too late to cancel so I can vacation with a clear conscience that we had no choice but to go ahead and take trip. God is in control and it will be fine.

We love POR! Its been five years since we stayed here and I am so thankful for our discounted upgrade! It so nice, we are in heaven. This may be our new home spot for WDW.

Food has been about like I expected. I am so glad we did the QSDP, its so easy and ds is helping us use up those credits! I have subbed water bottles for dessert some, other times I have just taken a few bites and tossed the rest.

We decided to skip Illuminations tonight, honestly with the cool temps and that being on the water, we'll see it another night. Its supposed to warm up over the next couple of days. Tonight, we'll go to Wolfgang Puck Express and have dinner and maybe do a bit of shopping then go to bed early. Tomorrow is DHS!

I'll try to check in again, say some prayers this stuff with dh's job works out or that he finds something good very soon. In the meantime, we are just going to have fun and not worry. We can worry when we get home!

Getting that call as we pulled out of the driveway will someday be funny, but for now I am just not going to dwell on it!

Talk about bad timing with Dan's job related phone call, but you're right, this is not the time to worry, its time to have a fun-filled vaca with your family!

So glad to hear you're lovin' Port Orleans. Its such a beautiful moderate resort and I love the boat to DTD. Be sure to catch Bob Jackson at the River Roost. Everyone always has a good time at his sing alongs.

If you make it back to Epcot, I have a huge favor to ask of you. Could you pick me up a park map? I'm trying to find out if there is a will-call window at the International Gateway entrance. The Give/get a day vouchers have to be converted at that location. Since we'll be at the Dolphin, I was hoping to take the boat and not have to drive to the front entrance to the park. Thanks a bunch!

I hope the weather improves and you get some of the warm Florida sunshine.
Have a blast and don't worry about anything!

Oh Amy, what horrible phone call to receive as you are leaving for vacation. Prayers being said. But as you said, God is in control and everything will work out, you just have to have faith, which I know you do.

We stayed at POR one time and loved it. We also loved the boat to DTD. A couple of evenings we rode the boat just for something to do and DS loved it, (and DD would fall asleep).

I was hoping that you all weren't getting the rain. :umbrella:The next few days should be really nice though. :sunny: Have loads of fun and we'll be looking for your next update.

 Amy,

Sending lots of prayers and :wizard: for Dan's job situation.

Glad you're enjoying POR!:cloud9:

Hope the weather starts cooperating soon! :wizard: We're supposed to be in the 80s here on Friday!!

Prayers on the way, WISH sis! Have a wonderful time in WDW!!!

P.S. Did you have a drink for me yet? ;)

sorry to hear about Dan's job...it's been so rough for so many people with jobs these last 2 years or so - very sad to hear

glad you were able to still enjoy your vacation...no reason not to smile while you're there

I hope the rest of your trip has been awesome...looking forward to hear more about it when you return

Wow, what a bummer to get that phone call right as you were leaving! :sad2: I really hope that has not put a damper on your trip (doesn't sound like it has! :thumbsup2). Your trip was already paid for anyway! :) Here is a 55-gallon drum of PD that all goes well with his job. :wizard::wizard::wizard:

Did you ever get on Expedition Everest? I love that ride!

Happy Easter to you and your family, Amy!

I hope you are having wonderful time in WDW! :goodvibes I can't wait to hear all about your trip when you get back!

Thank you so much everyone. I am sorry I haven't been on, we did get home Monday, but I got a bad cold in WDW, thankfully towards the end of the trip, and it really got worse when I got home. So I have been just wiped out. And the kids have had so much homework, I as usual am hard pressed to get on the computer in the afternoon and evenings!

No new news on the job front. Not sure if he'll be laid off or just have a big paycut come the 23rd but come what may, we'll get through it. I am worried but in all reality, its out of my hands. I have a lot of faith in Dan and his abilities and he has some good contacts. I know he'll come out okay with this. At least that's the positive thinking I am choosing to engage in for now!

Food in WDW was not good! That QSDP is a food fest. I never one time finished a single meal I ordered, but the salt content was high and while I only ate one dessert a day, I made sure it was a good one! Once I discovered how good the cheesecake was in the POR food court, well that was "it" for me! The other times, I subbed water bottles for dessert or if they wouldn't do that, I'd get the dessert, have one bite and throw the rest away. When I first came home the scale showed me up ten pounds, now I think its closer to five. Its hard to tell, my scale is old and if you weight three times in a row, you get a different result each time. I intend to just go in and weigh on Friday and deal with it. I have done well with food since I got home, including Monday. And I think the bloat is about gone.

My rec center membership is up, and I was not going to renew due to money worries, until Dan gets situated. But then Dan said I should just keep going. That $35 a month membership is really the least of our worries financially and if it keeps me healthy and helps with the stress, its money well spent. I am going to go in Friday and renew, I have one punch left (I buy those for the kids) that I'll use tomorrow. I didn't work out since I got home, I have been so miserable with this cold and cough I just didn't have the energy.

But I am all unpacked, organized, house clean, healthy food bought so I feel like I have my ducks in a row. Now I just need to get back to the gym and get this ball back to rolling!

Oh, and I did take two walks at POR and one surrey bike ride. So didn't make my four walk goal, but honestly, once that cold hit and of course with all the walking at the parks, I didn't have much time or energy! But POR is a wonderful place to walk. We so loved that resort. I am done hopping around and overthinking my resort choices from here on out! We all loved it, the food court was great and it was so perfect, I can't see us staying anywhere else. I was so worried that when I saw the busses for OKW and SSR I'd be sad, but staying there was so great, I didn't even care. In fact we liked it better. I never realized how much I missed daily maid service and in all reality, that extra space in those one bedrooms was a waste. We never spent anytime in our unit so it didn't matter much. I also didn't miss a balcony, luckily POR has plenty of benches and some people would pull their chairs out at night to enjoy. We never did, but we should have, we had a lovely view.

So it was a great trip! That phone call plainly stunk but I am convinced this will be one of those things that we'll look back on and think "that was when God opened a door for us and aren't we glad He did?".

Thanks for sticking with me, I missed you ladies and am ready to get back on my path to getting healthy!:grouphug:

Welcome back Amy! Sounds like you all had a great trip. I loved POR also. It is so relaxing and the rooms and surroundings are lovely. And yes, I must agree on the food court. It's just the right size and works well for everyone.

I'm glad Dan wants you to keep going to the rec center. You enjoy it so much and it really is helping you. :goodvibes

So sorry you got sick. That's a bummer, but I hope you are truly beginning to feel better.

Yes, things will work out for Dan. You have incredible faith and I believe that helps lead things in the right directions. Prayers are being said though that everything works out.

So glad you are back. :flower3:

Welcome back, Amy! We missed you around here!:grouphug:

I'm glad to hear that you had a great trip!:goodvibes Will you be doing a trip report?

I'm sorry to hear that you are sick though. :( There seems to be a lot of stuff going around. I hope you feel better soon!:wizard:

Sending prayers and :wizard::wizard: your way for Dan's job situation.

I hope you have a nice weekend ahead!

Here's a bit of :wizard: for weigh in today. Remember, you were on vacation, you are back home now and back on track. You will be fine.:goodvibes

Thanks Tracy and Lisa.

I was up 3.6 and honestly, given the way I ate for ten days, I'll take it. I really think that with some hard work over the next week, I might be able to take most of that off by next week's weigh in. I'll also didn't do very well with food yesterday, I didn't do horrible but I ate out lunch and dinner and that always spells high sodium. Oh yeah, I had some ice cream too.;) Sweets aren't typically a thing for me, but after ten days of having dessert every day, I was beside myself for some sugar. So I got a small cup of ice cream from Cold Stone and enjoyed every bite!

Slowly getting over the cold. Its sort of settled in my chest now so I spend the first couple of hours of each day haking up a lung and soundling like I smoke 2 packs a day. But my sinus pressure is so much better.

I did aquasize yesterday but that was the only workout I got all week. So that needs to be stepped up as well. I do plan to go over to the rec center tomorrow and get my membership going again (can't belive its been a year since I joined) and walk for an hour.

Tracy: Thanks for the prayers for Dan's job, I bounce back and forth between being optimistic and being terrified!

Lisa: I sort of felt like what you typed! I was on vacation, and now I am back home and ready to get back on track. One bad week away from home will derail me for a week, but that's it!

Oh, Amy! I am praying double time about Dan's job. That is so hard!!! Whatever happens, you will survive, & God is really in control (but sometimes I do believe He is on vacation...probably at WDW!). I think the anticipation & not knowing is the hardest. Once you know what you are dealing with you will be able to deal with it.

Glad you had a wonderful vacation! You certainly needed it!

Hope you have a great weekend.

I think 3.6lbs for a 10 day trip is nothing! And you are right - if you are diligent it will come off in no time. :thumbsup2

I hope all goes well with Dan's job. :wizard: How stressful! Don't let it get to you, there is no sense in worrying yourself sick over something you can't control.

Good for you renewing your rec membership! I think that is a great investment for your health. :)

Sorry to hear you got sick on your trip, I hope you are finally fully recovered.
