Amy's New Start : Comments Welcome!

Hi Amy!

I'm so sorry that I haven't posted here in awhile especially when you've been so good about visiting my CarePages site. I do however read the wish journals daily, so I'm keeping up with everyone's news.

You sound like you've been having a busy time with your get-togethers and birthday celebrations. That's exactly how the holidays should be-spending time with those you love! What date is your birthday? If I missed it, I apologize and if its not here yet, Happy Birthday either way!

That's great news about the $300.00 gift card and that you'll be able to use it for meals. That's such a big chunk of a Disney budget, so It will work out perfectly for you.

I hope your kiddos start to feel better before Christmas so you can have a lovely celebration! I'm looking forward to the New Year also. I love the feeling of renewal and making plans for the year. I don't say resolutions cause that just sets me up for disappointment if I don't reach my goals. So lets look at it as our gift to ourselves of better health, fitness, mental health and healthy relationships. I'll be there for your new journey on Jan. 1!

Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year my dear Wish friend!

That is so sweet that you remember when you met Dan! :goodvibes My DH and I met in December of 1989 and started dating in January 1990.

Great news about the Disney gift card!!!!

I hope your kids start feeling better soon. :wizard:

Thank you for the Christmas card. Your kids look great! ::yes:: How tall is Matthew by the way?

I sent something out your way yesterday....I'm not sure if it will get there by Christmas (and your birthday!:goodvibes ), but it is on it's way....

I hope you have a wonderful day today!

Happy Birthday! And Merry Christmas!!! I hope all is well with you and your family. :goodvibes

:santa: Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!:grouphug:

:bday: Happy Birthday, Amy!!!!:cake:

I pray that you and your family have a day filled with love, laughter, and God's peace.

Sending our love and prayers your way....Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday!

It sounds like things worked out much better with the Disney dining. That gift card is a great deal! The plans used to always entice me to eat to much...even the smaller ones. Now that I live by Disney I used to hate the dining plans because they raised the prices to subsidize it. That means I pay more when we go there for dinner but that has turned out to be a blessingin disguise. The higher prices and lower availability of ressies has drastically cut down on eating out at the World.

Thanks so much ladies (and welcome inkkognito )! Clearly I have been a absent Wisher these past few days! Again.:rolleyes1

Christmas was very nice. Lets see, we had a blizzard on the 23rd, which was the night Dan and the kids were taking me out for my birthday but we went anyway! We had most of the restaurant to ourselves which was very nice. Then we drove downtown to see the beautiful Chirstmas lights display on the city and county building. Normally you have to crawl along with about 1000 other cars, but that night due to the blizzard, again, we had it almost to ourselves. We could just go right up, park and enjoy the lights in the snow. Very nice night. Chirstams Eve we stayed around home (except for dh who had to finish his shopping :rolleyes1), then volunteered at church at the first service (I got to work in the nursery which was very fun) and then worhipped at the later one. It was a very nice day. Then Christmas we opened presents just the four of us, then stepdad, my sister and nephew came by for brunch, stepdad left early to be with his girlfriend's family and my sister and nephew stayed the day and we just vegged, played wii and then had lasagne my sister brought for a late dinner. It was a very nice day. Very nice. Very low key! For once!

Now we are just working on eating up leftovers, getting back to normal and I am so ready for 2010 with a new year and new possibilities. This year was a hectic one with ups and downs like all years. This week my plan is to get to the gym, begin the process of eating normal again and then on the 2nd, I can go back to Weight Watchers with everyone else on the planet.

I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and thanks for stopping by!

Amy: I do always remember the day I met dh. I got "set up", I didn't even know I was to meet him and I remember telling my brother later that evening "I think I just met the man I am going to marry". He laughed then but a month later we were engaged so he learned to listen to my predictions from then on out!;)

Tracy: I got the card and thank you so much! My friend and I are planning on having coffee after working out tomorrow and now I can have some tea on Tracy! You are so sweet.:goodvibes

Denise: Thanks for stopping by, please don't apologize, you have been just a little bit busy! The New Year is going to be a good one and a HEALTHY one for you and us all!

Tracey: I did have a fab birthday, I am just a bit shocked to be 45!:scared1:

Inkkognito: Welcome to my journal and thank you for stopping by!

I forgot to add that Dan and I bought wii fit for a combined birthday present to each other. His birthday is not until February so he got his gift early. I am excited to have it and hope it will help me to stay more active. I decided to post my exercise goals for this week:

Monday: Walk one hour at the gym

Tuesday: Do aquasize at the rec center

Wednesday: Walk at the mall with Dan

Thursday: Do aquasize at the rec center

Friday: Figure out the wii. Dan is working all week and I know we wont' have time before then. So I am not going to set that as an earlier goal and then think "nope, isn't installed etc so I'll just do nothing".

Hopefully with four solid days of walking or aquasize, the scale will show only a minor gain on Saturday. My goal was to stay very close to the weight I was in late November. We'll see. I have been weighing at home and so far it looks like I may be up about four pounds. Hopefully I can get about half of that off before my official weigh in.

Sounds like you had a nice Christmas, Amy!:goodvibes (Minus the blizzard part, of course. ;) :cold: )

Your goals for exercise this week look good. You CAN do it!!!:cheer2:

Have a great time at Starbucks today!:coffee:

Ah, so you're a fellow water exercise fan. I love it but our health club has very few water classes anymore so now I just do water jogging on my own.

Enjoy that Wii! They are lots of fun although you will probably eventually want to get something like EA Sports Active to get a true workout. Wii Fit does make you break a sweat with certain exercises but it's not nearly as intense as some of the other options.

That is cool that you got the Wii Fit! I hope you are able to use it regularly once it is set up and ready to go. I like all of your workout goals for this week. And it's posted, so you HAVE to do it now! :goodvibes

Well, one exercise goal down, three to go! I made it to the gym and walked for an hour. It felt really good. Food today was not the best but much better than it has been. Had I stayed out of the cheese and crackers, and skipped the cookies I ate it would have been about perfect. Oh well.

We were supposed to go to my sister's tonight for my nephew's birthday but dh wasn't feeling well. So we'll do that another time.

Tomorrow I intend to stick to my exercise goal again, eat a bit better and keep slamming the water.

Food today:
Slim Fast
Chicken breast tenders, carrots with low fat ranch
Cheese and crackers
Rumbii Grill bowl with pork, veggies and rice
Two Christmas cookies (small but still not a good thing)

Barb: I love to aquasize, that is the biggest reason I joined this rec center as opposed to the closer, cheaper 24 Hour Fitness. I did buy dh one wii fit game that looks pretty good. I need to break a sweat for sure!

Amy: Truth be known, that wii fit is more for Dan, he doesn't have the time to go to a gym and its cold and dark now which rules out a nighttime walk or run. But I hope to use it some too. I just like to get out of the house and work out. But its a good back up and I want to do the yoga stuff.

Tracy: I decided to set goals each Sunday for the following week. If I write it down, I figure I am more likely to do them! I loved my Starbucks and thought of you!

Cheese...mmm...that is probably a bigger downfall for me than sugar!

The yoga stuff on the Wii is pretty cool. It's amazing how versatile that little thing is.

Barb, it was cheeseball cheese, I cannot stay out of that stuff! Lucky for me my pig of a beagle got a hunk of it and she's welcome to it!

I got a kick out of you saying the higher prices at Disney Dining was a blessing. If I lived close I know I'd be so tempted to eat there but with that pricetag, I probably wouldn't. Its gotten insane. We have only two full serve meals planned for our ten days in March/April.

Mmm. cheeseball. Love it! Funny (and predictable) that Daisy got into it! DD got a party invite and there were 2 Hershey Kisses glued onto it. Let's just say I found the invite on the ground, along with a couple scraps of foil... And when Buckley saw me with it, he got the tail between his legs guilty look...

Great job getting that walk in! I think writing down your goals every Sunday will definitely help you stick to them. Act like they are a Dr appointment that you can't miss, because they really are just as important! :)

Way to go getting your walk in yesterday!!!:cheer2: I like how you are planning your exercise for the week on Sunday...Great idea!:thumbsup2

Hope you have a great day today, WISH sis!

LOL, sounds like the dog has good taste! I'll take cheese balls or cheese in any form. I'm taking a day off from watching my food on New Years Eve as we are going to the Melting Pot (fondue), so I will literally be swimming in cheese.

Hello Amy:wave2:

I am all caught up with you now. Sorry I have been gone for so long. Thank you for checking for me on my thread. I don't intend to be gone so long again. I really missed you all.
Let me back track a little.

I am very sorry about Dan's dad. How is Dan doing?

Glad your sis has been behaving better. yes, sometimes you just have to go with people's bad habits. Even if you hate them. Perhaps one day she will remember your aunt and have a change of heart.

Think you had a Christmas party the same day we did. Ours was December 12. Great time, but it rained buckets the entire day and evening.

Did the kids recover significantly for Christmas? Sounds like you had a great birthday celebration.
:bday:Happy Birthday!!!!! :bday:

Sounds like you had an absolutely wonderful day. I know most kids don't think so as they really get jipped with gifts, but to have Christmas as your birthday.....I think that is really special.

I agree that the key to accomplishing anything is getting in the right frame of mind. I am struggling with training for the 1/2 marathon. But when I am walking, I start visualizing the race, course and finish line, then I seem to pick up and do better. and I have learned to set small goals. Then when I accomplish something I feel really good and set the next goal.

I think you have hit on something with writing down what you intend to do for the week. With it out there for everyone to see, it is harder not to do it. Cause then you have to tell us why you didn't. ::yes::

Amy, I hope you have a really great week and I will be back. I promise. :thumbsup2

Happy New Year Amy
