Thanks Stacie and Tracy. Happy Weekend everyone!
So today has turned into a day spent at the computer and on the phone all day long changing our October trip plans. As I said the other day, I was really beginning to wonder if we needed to cancel
Disneyland. I got a great deal on airfare but with hotel, park tickets, rental car and meals it was going to still cost a small fortune. I was also miffed since it doesn't look the main parade at DL is going after Labor Day, Fantasmic is under refurb, the Electrical Parade is dark, Aladdin is on hiatus and it doesn't appear the fireworks are going either. All our favorite things, I sort of took that as a sign. Dan and I talked yesterday and agreed we would cancel. I was just sick at heart all night thinking about the kids, how disappointed they would be etc. But then this morning it occurred to me that we have through October 26th on our WDW AP's. If I pulled the kids out of school a couple of days before their fall break, we could still have four full park days plus a few hours on our arrival day if we went from the 22nd to the 29th. We could use points to stay at a DVC and we don't need a rental car. So Dan and I decided to see how much it would cost to switch airfare on Southwest and see if they had any availablity at a DVC. The airfare change for all four of us was around $300 which sort of stinks but given that our original fare was $600 that is still a good deal. SSR had availablity and if I pull the kids out of school for two days, we can still do the parks for the first four of our seven day trip. So we switched. Now I have no lodging, no tickets, and no rental car to pay for. And meals at WDW are cheaper than they are at DL. And no father in law to deal with either! (Fil lives 15 minutes away from DL.) Other than that increase in airfare, the whole thing was almost too good to be true. And as much as I enjoy DL, I like WDW better. Those last three days, we can just hang around the resort, go to DTD and still have fun. So after a day spent figuring all of this out, I feel like we came up with a good compromise. And the one bedroom unit has a full kitchen, we can cook some meals right there at the resort to save money. Actually, like most things in life, everything worked out the way it was probably meant to be.
Yesterday was my anniversary. We saw a movie, went to the place that is a movie theater and restaurant in one. Their menu is plainly awful on the healthy front! I split a burger with ds, had some popcorn and a few of dh's nachos. Then came home and had some ice cream for dinner. But I had a nice day. Tonight we have a graduation party to go to, I hope to just sampe some things and not go overboard.
Oh, and my knee, back and elbows are all either in agony or skinned up. Why? Because clumsy me didn't see a step coming out of the theater, tripped and fell flat on my knees and also somehow managed to skin my elbow. Very embarrassing! Although as soon as we got out to the parking lot, ds and I were hysterically laughing. What else could I do? But my back is killing me now. I think I'll try to aquasize tomorrow, that is much easier on the joints. I really need to get to the rec center this week and walk.
Food today is so far so good. And I have a nice, healthy menu planned for tomorrow. After yesterday, I need to do well. I didn't make it to WW yesterday, I just couldn't make it work with the movie. I am okay with that and barring any phone calls from broke family members on Wed., should make that meeting just fine!
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
