Amy's Journal: Comments Welcome!

I also had two bites of ds' cheesecake. His braces still hurt so all the food hurt his braces, so I let him order a piece of cheesecake that was the size of my butt. Naturally I had to have some too! There was a ton left, nobody (but me of course) wanted it. So after my two bites, I just inverted the plate into the nasty, basket of wing bones so I couldn't see it or be tempted! Surprised I didn't just go ahead and turn it back over and suck it down, wing sauce and all!

 :sad2:  :sad2:  :sad2:  :sad2:  :sad2:  :sad2:  :sad2:

That is the most horrible story of cheesecake abuse I have EVER heard! Whenever you need someone to come finish off a butt-sized cheesecake, you just give me a call! I don't care what time of day it is, I will be there in a flash! :car:

But I suppose your cheesecake faux pas is forgivable, because you didn't eat it when you had already indulged in other calorific treats. GOOD JOB! :thumbsup2

I'm glad to hear you liked Curves and you have a "plan B" for if you end up subbing. And the more you go, the less sore you will be afterwards. You are doing really good on your exercising! I know you'll make your goal!!!

Next time you go to that theater either eat before or smuggle a sandwich in. And if you do order cheesecake again and some of it goes to waste, please don't post about it. I don't think I can handle another sad tale like that... :sad1:

Hi Amy,

Sounds like a great plan with Curves!:thumbsup2 You're almost to your exercise goal...You can do it,Amy!:cheer2:

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend.:hug:Have a great Sunday!

Hi Amy,

I know that you had some junk, but you only had a few bites of cheesecake. Don't dwell on the negative, celebrate that victory instead.:thumbsup2 Besides, you have planned out your meals for the rest of the weekend. You are rockin at Curves. You are on the right track.

Your plan for the fall sounds awesome. It always helps to have a back up plan too. You should be proud of yourself for thin king ahead.

Keep up the good work, and have a good week.
Beth

Thank you so much Beth, Amy and Tracy.

The rest of the weekend went well. Saturday, I just mostly vegged around the house. It was so nice. Sunday we took the kids to the pool for five hours, I cannot believe summer is almost over.

Food was good, Saturday, I cannot remember all that I ate, but I did well, stayed within points and drank my water. And Amy, I had Subway! We needed a quick lunch and that worked out very well. I am thrilled that Subway now serves spinach leaves instead of just iceberg lettuce. I asked for extra veggies and it felt good to eat fast food without the guilt.

Sunday, food was even better, I got all my fruits and veggies in. I don't feel like listing everything but it was by far the best weekend I have had in a long, long, time. I also walked last night so my exercise totals with that and Curves today are:
August: 185/300

I did Curves today, I really enjoyed it and stayed and did five minutes of stretching. They have a ballet bar for balance and a nice large wall poster of 10 stretches to do. I never stretch, I think on Wedneday, I'll do all the stretches twice instead of just once.

Food today:
Breakfast: Atkins Shake (3)
Snack: (1/2 peanut butter sandwich): (4)
Lunch: Lean Cuisine (6), apple (1)
Snack: 2 oz. ff turkey (1) rice cakes (1)
Total so far: 16
That leaves me 12 points for dinner, should be very doable.

I am bummed, I stepped on the scale at Curves, no loss yet! I was hoping for a loss this first week, but with Wednesday just two days away, it may not happen. I feel really bloated, TOM is approaching maybe quicker than I think. I'll be so disappointed if I don't lose, but if I don't, I just need to stay focused and not lose heart. Maybe the next two days I can shed some water/lbs!

Thanks for reading!

What a great weekend!!! :cool1:  :yay: :cheer2: I'm glad you loved Subway, now you won't hesitate to make that smart choice instead of the other fattening selections... :thumbsup2

Don't worry about the scale, it will catch up. It's been a while since you've worked your muscles so you might be gaining some muscle from Curves. And you know TOM is always good for a couple lbs too. It doesn't matter if you don't lose, at least you didn't gain! You know you are doing everything right, so don't get derailed by the number on the scale.

Keep it up, you're doing AWESOME!!!!!:woohoo:

wow Amy i've just been catching up!!
Well done for being brave enough to post your numbers!
It sounds like you've made a great start & curves sounds good - BUT PLEASE stretch - stretching is sooo important, stops your muscles bulking & can make you leaner, i'm a stretching fanatic, every morning when i wake up & lots before & after gym workouts!!!
i'm with lovinaz on the cheesecake ;)
I've never heard of a movie theatre with tables & waitresses!!! cool!!!
remeber small steps at the start - better than no steps at all!
Keep up the great work Amy

Hi Amy,

You did great this weekend. Way to go!:thumbsup2

I have to agree with everyone else. The numbers will catch up. If you are getting discouraged, check your measurements. You may be in for a pleasant surprise.

Keep up the great work.:wizard: for your wi tomorrow.

Beth

Hi Amy,

You did a great job this weekend! Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

Sending some weigh-in :wizard: :wizard: for tomorrow. No worries about the scale though. You're doing a great job and the scale will reflect that soon.:goodvibes

Hope you have a great evening!

Hi everyone, thanks for the support and good wishes.

Man, what a day. I had the appt. with my mom and stepdad and the social worker to do the evaluation of what they need in the way of help. It was a long day, just really stressful, social worker feels Medicaid will kick out application at this point since in spite of all their issues, the gov't will be loathe to fork out assistance. But she feels my mom needs a nurse in once a week to manage the medication. They neither one want to pay for this, or really admit it needs to be done. I think it hurt his feelings that I bascially said he is beyond this level of care at his age. It was just a lot of weird, stressful stuff to discuss with each other and a complete stranger. And of course its obvious I need to step up more to the plate, not less. I am dying to go back to work part time but its not going to happen. This whole day made my feelings of anger and resentment towards stepdad's two sons and my own sister rise to an all time high. End result, I am stressed, my stomach hurts and I feel like nothing will be accomplished unless I either pay for this myself or find a way to help them find the money each month. I took them to lunch, they chose Village Inn, so of course I had to have my old standby a tuna melt. The day before weigh in when I am bloated and pms'ing anyhow. But I am going to weigh in and going to Curves tomorrow. I have to look at the big picture. I have worked out five of the last seven days and done really well on my food for the most part. I think I am still coming in okay on points, but again, the day before weigh in is not the best time to use up the remainder of one's flex points!

I'll update tomorrow on my weigh in but no matter what I just can't let it set me back. I still feel better about things (as far as my health and weight) tongiht than I did a week ago!

P.S. No workout today, after 7 hours with parents I came home just in time for homework and to fix dinner. Which I didn't eat since I am still full from my stupid lunch.

Hi Amy
sounds like you've had a tough day, dont be hard on yourself about your lunch & try not to worry about WI - worst case - just let it go & keep up the good work you have started.
Cant you try to talk to stepdads sons & your sis? Or could stepdad talk to his sons?? Its not fair for you & him to have to carry all the weight, stress & responsibility, i hope something works out for you all,
remember to get some you time too
enjoy curves tomorrow

Thanks Tracey, stepdad's sons and I have no relationship. I like the one pretty well, don't really know him but he's always been nice to me. Its just very strained in a way, they have their own mother to worry with and I think they feel caught in the middle between their dad and mom maybe. In the end, I just wish they would call him more, he needs to know he's loved and cared about. Sometimes he goes months without a word from either of them. And as far as hands on help from either of them, forget it, it will never happen. As for my sister, she is too busy blaming my mom for everything that has gone wrong in her life since about 1960 to have time for some TLC. It will never change, sometimes I just need to vent and my WISH friends listen the best. And will never run into any of these people I am complaining about so its sort of a safe form of rant and gossip!

Weigh in was okay, I was down 1.2 pounds. I wish it could have been more but hey, I take any loss on the scale! I went to Curves, I feel like I am already firming up a bit and the machines were easier today. I can feel its a workout, I was sweating and my heart rate was up so thats good.

Food today:
Breakfast: Slim Fast Bar: 3
Snack: Rice cakes: 2
Lunch: Lean Cuisine: 4, blueberries, 1
Snack: 1/4 pkg mini oreas: 1, glass of milk:2
Total so far: 13

We are going out tonight to Cici's Pizza buffet (fundraiser night). Their pizza is pretty low in points and they do have salad. As long as I can steer clear of the breadsticks and brownies, I should be fine. I have a lot of stuff coming up this weekend: Rehearsal dinner at some bbq place, and dd's birthday lunch/movie/ice cream party. I really need to hold it together at those two events. I am also bummed, Curves is closed on Monday. So I'll have to get an extra walk in that day.

Exercise for August: 215/300

I may take a walk after dinner if homework is done. If not, I'll need to do a nice long walk tomorrow, August is almost over!

Wow, Amy, I don't know if I should give you a hug or cheer. I'll do both. :cheer2:  :cheer2:  :cheer2:  :cheer2:

I am so sorry for what you are going through. It is truly sad that we care so little for the wellbeing of our elderly. As an ICU nurse, I saw many people step up to the plate, but I also saw so many that just bailed or let old arguements get in the way of what everyone needs. I really think that your parents are blessed to have you as their daughter. It is very stressful to reverse that caregiver role.

That said, you should be immensely proud of yourself. Congratulations on the loss, especially in this time of stress.

I will be praying for your family,
Beth

Thank you Beth, I really should never complain my mother tells me at least 10 times a week how much she appreciates me. She kept telling the social worker I was her best friend! So sweet, makes me grateful she is here on Earth for me to care for.

I am too exhausted after homework and laundry to workout. Oh, and I cleaned much of the house today, will finish tomorrow. I got a ton done today, amazing how much I can accomplish when I am home to do it! I am going to walk for 60 minutes tomorrow, which would put me at goal just in the knick of time by the time I complete Curves on Friday.

So here is CiCi's Pizza, that place is not easy to do well in. All you can eat = all you gorge = all you can gain!

BBQ chicken pizza: 4
Pepperoni/jalepeno: 4
1/2 sausage: 2
1 cup pasta w/tomato sauce: 5
1/2 breadstick: 2
couple bites of ds' cinnamon roll: 2
2 cups romaine w/ ff dressing: 0
Total: 19

Good God thats a lot for one meal. Clearly I blew it! I had 13 points to work with, so I have used 6 flex points. Guess I can live with that. And I may have figured high, not sure I ate that much pasta and I chose the smallest pieces of pizza so that may have saved me a point or two. But I would rather figure high than low!

Good night all, I am off to collapse.

 Amy,

It sounds like the past couple of days have been a bit rough for you. I hope that you have some time to relax today.

Great job on losing 1.2 pounds! Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

Have a great Thursday!:goodvibes

Amy - WI was ok?? ok??? are you mad woman it went DOWN thats not ok thats great :cool1: :thumbsup2 :yay:  :cheer2:
well done :)
you did great at the pizza place & you picked smaller portions - it all helps :)
Feel free to come & vent any time, i just wish i could come up with a miracle cure to your problems
have a great day :)

Thank you Tracey, Tracy and Beth. I did do my 60 minute walk today. I did well with food until dinner, I had chips and salsa and two Coors Lights! I came in under on points but not the best meal. Still, I had already gotten in all my fruits and veggies for the day and had good breakfast and lunch. Just a strange dinner!

I am beat, I will catch up on journals tomorrow, just finished with homework. I'll swear this is the one bad part of my kids being back at school!

August exercise challenge: 275/300

Tomorrow I am taking my mom to lunch and have a dinner out (dh's cousin's rehearsal dinner). I am really worried about surviving tomorrow. And Satruday is dd's birthday party complete with lunch out, movie and ice cream afterwards. popcorn:: :sad2: , Again, I am scared of my ability to survive that one as well! The rest of the week I should be in the clear for special occasions. I need to really focus on the fact that its not worth the instant gratification to put junk in my mouth. Just gotta keep thinking that!

 Amy,

You have a lot going on this weekend!:cool1: Happy Birthday to your DD!princess:

Remember to eat slowly and in moderation and you'll do just fine.:goodvibes

Great job on getting your exercise in! Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

Have a wonderful weekend!

Just a quick post, I went to Curves today so my August challenge is met:
310/300! NOw I need to think what is a good, doable yet challenging amount of exercise minutes for the month of September. I am off to take my mom to lunch and shopping for dd's birthday. Which is on the 10th but I am having her party this weekend with friends so that next weekend she can have her family party (which I haven't even thought about yet). I'll post my food tonight or tomorrow, hope I can hold it together at lunch and dinner today.

Congrats on meeting your exercise goal!!! That is a wonderful accomplishment. :woohoo:

I know you will do just fine on your lunch out and DD's b-day. Just think of how good it felt to see that 1.2lbs gone at WI. Try to find something to focus on other than the food factor at the party. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
