Amy's Journal: Comments Welcome!

OMG another blizzard today and tomorrow and another one for Saturday into Sunday. I feel like I am in Alaska or upstate New York! Managed to get to the store before the roads got too bad. I bought some lowfat options but also got some cheetos which I proceeded to chow down on! I did better with food today but still need to way, way better. No exercise. Just gotta get back into the swing of things which is not easy to do.

 Amy,

Please be very careful and stay safe and warm!

Welcome back!!! Sounds like you had a great time. I'm glad to hear you got Daisy and she is wreaking havoc already. I was cleaning out some papers and I found all Buckley's pedigree info. Guess what his mom's name is? Yep, it's Daisy!!!

I do not envy you coming back to all that snow! It is good that you got some supplies and can just relax at home. And I heard that shoveling snow burns tons of calories!!!

You will be able to get back into eating right and working out. Try to ease back into it (change one thing at a time) instead of jumping in cold turkey. That might be a little easier to deal with! I think you will have no problem losing 30lbs by your DL trip. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

Thanks Amy and Tracy. I am telling you I cannot believe how much snow we have gotten! I am trying not to remember too much that two weeks ago at this time the kids were splashing at the pool at CBR while Dan and I enjoyed some Malibu and Diet Coke after a fun day at MGM!

Amy, Daisy is the most popular name for dogs apparently. My stepdad read that in some article, so I guess we aren't too original. She is really coming into her own little personality and quite a devil. I can tell Dan is starting to think my idea of a new puppy was not so great! I haven't shoveled thus far, I strained my back at the airport the other day and dh has nicely done it all. Also the neighbor, bless him loaned us his snow blower to get the first 30 inches worth off, the last 8 Dan has done the hard way.

Tracy, thanks for the good thoughts, we are staying in where its warm and safe. The governor declared as state of emergency and asked ppl to please stay off the roads and we are following orders!

Bad news is that there isn't much to do but eat and watch tv. I really need to stop this pigging out. Today has been better and I did watch my portions a bit better. You are right Amy, start slow. Its amazing how quickly my good habits just go by the wayside.

Hope everyone has a great new year!

Mmmmm just read your dining review!
I may try Tonys on our next trip, like you i had heard a few negative comments, but i'm gonna try it if only fot the cheesecake :)

Amy, your trip sounded wonderful, I know you had fun, and I agree with you, let's all make good resolutions for 2007 and stick together to accomplish our goals!!

Happy New Year.

Welcome back! It sure sounds like you had a wonderful time!!! Sorry to hear you missed Soarin', but doing it in California will make it that much more special for you! I hear you on the dining plan. It's great, but WOW, that's a lot of food! Sorry to hear about all the snow you're getting. I wish you could have sent some our way this Christmas. It just doesn't feel right living in Ontario with absolutely zero snow for Christmas!! Stay safe, and Happy New Year to you!! :goodvibes

Amy, I'm so glad you made it back safely. I was definitely thinking about you and your various family members last week. And now you have another storm :scared1: . Take it easy. Your dining report was fun to read. Here's to a Happy and Healthy 2007!

Great dining report! I think I gained 2lbs just from reading it! :confused3 That is so sweet you had some cheesecake for me on my b-day!! We decided to not do the DDP when we go next Dec. We just can't eat that much and we don't want to be tied to reservations. We are staying at CBR, did you love it? I'll PM you, I don't want to hijack your journal... ;)

What are you talking about - nothing to do?!?! You have a treadmill, jump on it! Did you sign up for the Jan Exercise Challenge? Let's do it this month, put ourselves and our health first for a change!!!

Happy New Year WISH sis!:grouphug:

This has been some year for us, hasn't it Amy? How many times have we found ourselves in similar situations this year? I want to thank you so much for all of the love, encouragement, and support you have shown me. Your words of encouragement and prayers have helped me through some tough times this year. Thank you so much, Amy!:grouphug:

I pray that 2007 will be a year filled with abundant blessings for you and your family.:grouphug: Here's to a wonderful 2007!party:

Happy, Healthy New Year, Amy!

If you're running a bit short on snow, I'd be happy to send you some. New Mexico usually gets NONE that lasts past about 10 a.m., and I have over a FOOT still on the ground at my house!! Pretty as it reminds me of the midwest, but cities here aren't equipped to deal with it.

We'll stick together and get this back under control soon! Your dining report made me VERY HUNGRY!!!

Thanks everyone!

Amy, thanks for the thought but my treadmill was broken:sad2: . Thankfully, dh just fixed it tonight! I did do some exercise videos (in between power outagages) but ate more than I moved! At one point we couldn't get out of the house the drifts stuck our front door shut. It was crazy! I doubt I'll be walking outside for a few weeks, there is still two feet of standing snow, my HOA didn't shovel at all and neither did some of my neighbors so I am really thankful to have my treadmill back. In a way, it was good to lay around, after 8 days at WDW, followed by Christmas and out of town company, a few days of sheer downtime was heaven! One day we didn't even get dressed. But I did eat too much! Definitely pm me about CBR, we loved it. DDP: Never again! It was fun but once was enough. But we are counter service kind of folks since we are usually too busy riding!

Julie, I have been thinking about you down in NM. This storm was very freaky and strange. My cousin left Amarillo for Los Angles two days late because of your storm!

CJK: I will gladly send you some snow! How come Canadad was spared while we got slammed? The song White Christmas now makes me cringe!

Tracy: This year definitely had its ups and downs. I just was so happy we didn't get laid off, got back to full pay and hung onto our DVC and still managed to do some travelling on the financial front once things settled down. We shouldn't have but it was always good to get away and thank goodness I didn't cancel the cruise after one of our many crisis in 2005 into early 2006. I hope this year is blessed for us all, it will be for somebody, why not us WISHERS??? ;)

Anna, thanks for thinking of me. My new claim to fame on the WISH is I live in the snow zone! I suppose the weather in Southern Cal is gorgeous you rat!

Food over the weekend: AWFUL. I'd post it but I don't think I have enough time. Seriously, I ate very, very badly. The cabin fever thing just made me eat like some sort of Eskimo waiting out the long winter. We went to a NYE party where I pigged out. Then I went to my mom's all day yesterday, took down all her Christmas stuff and helped her sort thorugh much of her stuff to get rid of. She just has too much clutter. It was hard work, seven solid hours cleaning, packing and taking it to storage or the dumpster. I worked up quite a sweat! It was good to get it done, stepdad was thrilled. I also came home with a few things she gave me which was special and a bit sad. I spent NYE taking my stuff down. I did make exercise challenge but didn't post my final minutes. Too late now I guess but I got it done so thats what counts! I came in at 830/800.

I am weighing in tomorrow. I dread it but need to go. I purged the cabinets again. A good friend sent us one of those huge popcorn buckets so I am sending those leftovers to dh's office tomorrow. My jeans are a bit tight but they still fit. I am just ready to start. Food today was better but not great. And I drank no water, very unusual for me :confused3 .

So, how did weigh-in go? Hopefully it wasn't too bad. Usually you think it is way worse than it actually is! And no matter what the scale says, it sounds like you are ready to get back on the road to success!

Awesome job completing the Dec Challenge!!! :cool1: :cheer2: Have you signed up for the Jan Exercise Challenge yet?

So, which is easier, a girl beagle puppy or a boy beagle puppy?

HI Amy,
hope WI goes ok, try not to worry about the eating, eapecially when its so cold over their! You need the energy :)
Have a good week
Tracey

Hi everyone. Weigh in was interesting. On the way I swerved to avoid hitting a dog and thought my car would flip in the icy ruts. I ended up skidding into a snow bank where I got stuck for a half hour, waiting for dh to come and get me. Some very nice guy pushed me out with some help from my friend Jody I finally called when it was obvious dh wasn't coming anytime too soon! So I missed the first meeting. Got to the second, later meeting to find that like most other parking lots in town most of the spaces are covered in drifts still. So I circled for quite awhile and finally just parked my car in a do-it-myself space like others had done! Missed the meeting but did get to weight in. Weigh in was 224.6, so up 3.6 pounds since last time I weighed. Kind of a bummer but I guess it could have been worse right?

Came home, got some stuff done, found out the puppy has worms, had to deal with that then remembered my nieces' birthday (twins) is next week. So had to go shop, deal with more stupid parking lots, pick up the kids, do homework, make dinner etc. No workout today or at all this month. But tomorrow is only the 4th. I need to sign up and get going. Food today was good until I found some leftover chips. Those cost me 12 lousy points.
Breakfast: Atkins Shake (3)
Lunch: Lean Cuisine (6), ff pudding (1), carrots (0),
Snack: Cereal 4)
Snack #2 chips (12)
Dinner: Soup (4), Salad (4)
Water: 60 oz, Crystal Light: 24 oz.
Total for the day: 34.
Clearly into some flex points. Chips were about to be thrown out but dh rescued them to take to his office. Better his thighs than mine!

I am so ready to begin anew and get this thing done. I just so want to take off 30 pounds by June when we go to California.

Tracey: Thanks for the good thoughts. If it snows like this again I am in trouble! Its only the beginning of winter, I can't pig out like that every time it snows or I may gain 30 pounds by June instead of losing it!

Amy: Well in some ways Daisy is better. But she's got some spunk I must say. She has figured out how to climb the baby gates and she tried to attack a large yellow lab at he vet yesterday! But she is so cute its hard to get mad. I was younger when Ben was a puppy and had no kids so even though he was a total pill it was a lot easier!

I think 3.6lbs is a drop in the bucket for all the pigging out, DDP, etc that you've been through! And I think it is wonderful that you are listing your food AND points. That tells me you are back into serious mode!!! :thumbsup2

I don't think you will have any problem at all losing 30lbs by your trip. Just think - you will be UNDER 200 soon!!!!! :cool1: You are doing awesome and we are gonna succeed this year!

I think beagles are extra cute for a reason - so their owners don't kill them. I was drying my hair this morning and of course I gave Buckley a little fluffing and he just spazzed out, tearing around the room, under the bed, etc, leaving his trademark nail lines in the carpet. Then he cracked us up because he was laying all the way under the bed with just his cute little head poking out. He is 28lbs, right where he should be. The vet said a beagle came in the week before we did and it weighed 50lbs! Does Daisy have the cute little howl yet?

Hi Amy
Glad you are ok after the car skidding! You we're very lucky it was not worse!!
You gained less than me after our wdw trip, i gained 7 lb's plus another 5 over xmas!!!!
If your like me though it was just the motivation i needed to try & get back on track!
I'm sure you will too :)

Hi sweetie,

Please don't worry about the 3.6 pounds..... You had the Disney Dining Plan and the holidays to contend with. I think you did a great job!:thumbsup2

Please be careful in all that snow and ice out there. I feel guilty because that is usually the kind of weather we have at this time of year. Instead, it's been rainy and mild and tomorrow, it's supposed to be 60 degrees!

I meant to tell you sooner, but I loved your dining report! We are doing the dining plan in September and I'm a bit nervous about the amount of food... My DH told me he would help use up my credits and my girls said they would eat the Mickey bars. :rotfl:

Hope you have a great Friday!:goodvibes

Tracey: As you'll soon read, my 3.6 wasn't all it was cracked up to be! But it could have been worse, I was fully expecting to be up over 10.

Tracy: DDP is fun and in some ways it will be easier for you since your kids are under 10. With two "adults" that are still kids and them getting their own appetizers and desserts it was crazy. Although often we didn't order all four but often we did because dh has this "I paid for it, I'm gonna get it" sort of attitude and we wanted to try all the different things.

Amy: Daisy, scoots under the bed just like Ben and Buckley! A 50 pound beagle makes me shudder, thats about 20 pounds too much devil dog to contend with! I am serious with tracking points and food, I think the success ratio of people who journal their food is something like 10 times greater to succeed than people who don't.

Okay, good news and bad news. Bad news first: The lady at WW can't add. I didn't want to look at the scale and finally told her "tell me the damage" . She said 3.6. She can't add, its 5.6! I looked at my book and saw her notation of the weight and where she had marked 3.6 but then realized she was off by two pounds. So I came clean with all of you and put it right in my book! I knew that was too good to be true. So my weight was actually 226.6. Oh well, easy come, easy come back on!

More bad news, I got another 8 inches of snow. Kids are off today and driving me nuts! I may not walk outside until April. Again, oh well!

Good news: I have had two good days in a row with food. And I did get on the treadmill last night and today for a total of 90 minutes between the two. Yesterday's food:
Atkins Shake (3)
1/2 protein bar (2)
Salad with chicken, sunflower seeds and cheese: (9)
Soup (1)
Triscuits (3)
Little Debbie (3)
Lean Cuisine (6)
Apple (1)
Total: 28, right where I should be.
Water: 80 oz., Crystal Light 24 oz.

Stupid Little Debbies! I am within points both days (given flex points since I went over my base on Wednesday) but would like to cut out some of this refined crap I am eating. Oh well, one Little Debbie (Little Devil is more like it) is better than a whole box!

Yuck on the bad news, buy YAY on the good news!!! Those "extra" 2lbs will be gone before your next weigh-in!! :wizard:

Even though you ate the Little Debbie at least you counted it and only ate 1! I say don't buy those anymore. Your kids don't need them either! You could get something a little healthier like Low Sugar granola bars or Fig Newtons. Or get the kids something that you don't like!

You are doing AWESOME!!!

And I thought about the 50lb beagle and realized the owner probably did it because it's the only way to slow the spaz dog down!! :lmao:
