AmyM's Quest for a Better Bikini Body!

Weigh in today was 144!:eek: :scared1: :eek: :scared1: But we went out to eat last night at Carrabas (Italian) and I had manicotti and 2 pieces of bread. I usually gain 2-3lbs overnight after eating out, so I bet my "real" weight is really more like 142. I'm not going to worry about it, I am going to just do what I need to do - eat right today and continue working out!

I am finally past my mental aversion to working out!!!:banana: :cool1: :yay: :cheer2: I went on Wed and again today (we were running around all day yesterday, no time). I am not even going to come close to 1000 minutes this month, but at least I have managed to ditch the bad attitude!:thumbsup2

I am going to start the ND's detox again after the 1st of the year. We have a party to go to tomorrow and I know I will have more success if I start when I am back into my regular work routine. That is not a license to pig out between now and the 3rd, it is just a realistic starting point. I have actually been eating pretty well these past couple days (except last night's dinner) so I am not worried about going overboard. Yay, I finally feel like I can get back on track!! Thanks to everyone for your support, I really thought about quitting WISH but all my buddies kept me coming back!:grouphug:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, now the fun part is trying to find where to store all my good deals...
Marie, we can tackle the scale issues together! You've made it go down before, you can do it again!
Amy, welcome back!!! At least you have a reason for tight pants - you were on vacation!!! THanks for the cheesecake, I bet it was wonderful!
Tracey, as you can see, WI did NOT go well, but I think it is from eating a huge dinner. I bet next week I'll be back to my favorite (NOT) 141...:rolleyes:
Amy, I am right there with you, just trying not to go hog wild until the 2nd when my kids go back to school and I can get back on track once and for all. We too have a party tomorrow night so it seems a bit useless to try to start in earnest today when I know I still have the weekend ahead to get through. 545 minutes of exercise is nothing to sneeze at, good for you! You sound like you are really getting in a good mental place, thats a great start and half the battle! Happy New Year! Thats too funny that Buckley's mom is Daisy! Daisy's mom is "Sugar" which doesn't surprise me since she is so sweet.
Hi Amy,
I've spent a lot of time missing from the boards, time off work, fun time with family, but eating wAy too much and the scale tells it!!
Let's work together on better things for 2007. Thanks for being so encouraging this past year.
Happy New Year!!
This time of year is crazy isn't it?? Good job establishing a plan for the new year and it really sounds like you're determined to succeed! You'll break that 141 barrier in 2007. We're all here routin' for you. Happy New Year!!! :goodvibes
Today is Day #1 for my detox. Nothing with corn syrup or corn starch, only 1-2 complex carbs per day. I want to do this for at least 2 weeks. I am also back to writing everything down, I had stopped doing that and obviously things got out of control... Didn't behave too well at the party last night. WAY too many pomegranate martinis and almonds... :rolleyes1 I am going to only weigh myself on Friday mornings. NO PEEKING! When I do cardio I will just use the previous Friday's weight to put in the machine. I went to TBK and ABT this morning! :cheer2: My friend joined my gym and she went with me. We are going to a Muscle class tomorrow and I might get brave and also take the Step class beforehand. I signed up for 1300 minutes in Jan. I've had 1800 minute months before, I know I can do this!!! I finished my Dec challenge with 635 minutes. Pretty sad... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, I decided to start early. No more parties, no more tempation. We are not even doing anything tonight, just hanging with the kids. Too many wackos on the road NYE anyway! We are going to kick butt in '07!!!!
Kate, it's so nice to have you back! I think most of us have been naughty in the food department this past month, so you aren't alone!
CJK, I can't even believe I got up to 141 let alone 144. I am 10lbs heavier than I was in March. :eek: Why do I feel like I am the only one going UP on WISH?!?!?! I am more determined than ever to break that trend!
Amy - good for you jump starting the new year starting detox today. :worship: It is wonderful that your friend joined your gym. That will definitely help keep you motivated, I'm sure. Your exercise goal is steep, but you can do it. As you said, you have 1800 in the past. I'm thinking I should go back to writing down everything that passes my lips, as well. It is a pain, but I seem to not be able to control myself otherwise. :sad2: You have had a really extraordinary past several months with all of your travel (5 countries in what, 6 weeks?) The fact that you only gained a few pounds is good. Since travel and work are going to be a part of your schedule now, I'm sure you will get a system together that works. You are going to get the scale to turnaround. :)
Here's to a Happy and Healthy (and lighter!) 2007! :banana:
1800 MINUTES!!!!!:scared1:
wow! Actually, that'll be a drop in the bucket for you!! You are amazing when it comes to working out. The pounds will drop off in no time....FOR ALL OF US!!!
Happy New Year!!
I'm just catching up, Amy, and you're doing AWESOME! Especially considering all you've had going on lately!
Have a Happy, Healthy New Year!
Happy New Year, Amy!
I hope 2007 is a wonderful year for you and your family!:grouphug:
That's great that your friend joined the gym with you! :goodvibes
You did a wonderful job in 2006, Amy and I know you'll do a wonderful job in 2007!:cheer2:
I did really good yesterday with my food. Well, except for the 2 Peppermint Patties (small ones)... :rolleyes1 I'm pretty sure those aren't on the approved detox foods list! :rotfl: I did avoid the mashed potatoes at dinner (usually I sneak a couple bites that probably amounts to a serving!). The goal for the day is NO Peppermint Patties or other non-healthy treats. I need to grocery shop today and get some more Soy Whipped Cream and SF Jello for treats.
I went to a Step class this morning. It was Step II but I think they are missing 2 letters. It should be called Step HeII... Let's just put it this way - she had us set up 4 steps in a square formation, A, B, C and D. And she was doing all sorts of turns and switching steps. One woman actually fell, I tripped. And I was the only newbie, but at least I wasn't the only one bumping into others and getting all confused. The same instructor teaches the same class on Saturdays at 8am. One thing I'd like to do this month is to take DS10 to the 9am Dodgeball class at the gym. So on the weekends he is with us, I will go to the 9am Muscle class while he is in Dodgeball, and on the weekends the kids are at their dad's, I will attempt to go to 8am Step HeII and 9am Muscle. This is in addition to TBK on Sundays (they cancelled ABT! :sad1: ) That will get those exercise minutes adding up!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anna, my friend was going to go to the Muscle class (after my Step class) and she wasn't there. I bet you she was sore from yesterday. I know I was and I am in way better shape than she is! We have another friend who is supposed to join, we'll see how that pans out! You are right, I need to come up with a way to stay on track even when travelling. The hotel in the UK that I plan on staying at all the time has a workout room, so that will help!

Marie, I was getting 1800 minutes when I was walking during my lunch break PLUS working out. With my new job I don't have the luxury of walking at lunch, so I doubt I will ever get that high again. I figured 1300 is 60 minutes, 5x a week. It'll be tough, but I wanna succeed!!!

Julie, thanks for stopping by! I don't feel like I am doing awesome, but I am determined to stop the upward trend of the scale!

Tracy, thanks for your constant support. I hope '07 is a little more productive than '06 on the fitness front! I really want to look great in a swimsuit by the time I go visit my family in July!

wow Amy way to go on the exercise :)
I feel tired just reading about it!!!
The step class sounds tough, i have no co-ordination at all, so i would have been in a heap on the floor!!
Good luck with the detox :)

Another good day. I did have some SF dark chocolate, but just 4 small squares, and it is allowed. I am still sore from Sunday's workout and I'm sure yesterday's Step class didn't help! No workout planned for today, I am going to do MWF + the weekends. I need to have at least a couple days off per week!

Yesterday the dog got out. DD just opened the back door to close the garage and he bolted out. And he's gotten out before, but usually wanders around the cul-de-sac sniffing things and we can lure him back with a treat. Not this time! :mad: He took off running down the street and there was no stopping him. DS finally got him to come get a treat, but when he grabbed his collar, Buckley bit him! :furious: Then he took off running the other way and I yelled at DH to go get him. So DH started running after him and I never knew that old man could run so fast! They ran around the corner (DS was chasing them on his bike) so I got in the van to help out. I told DD that DH was probably going to kick the dog's butt and when we turned the corner, we saw that DH had finally caught the naughty boy. I later asked him if he smacked him a good one and he said he would have but there were some neighbors out. Lucky for the dog!

Back to work tomorrow, what a bummer that will be after almost 2 weeks off!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracey, I don't have too much coordination either, but I can usually get by in a Step class. I never knew it could be so difficult!!! Hopefully I can continue to go and get better at it...
Poor Buckley!! He just wanted to visit some friends around the block!!
(When Gunner gets out, he goes to the neighbors yard and pees, then comes running back!! :rotfl: )
Good job on day 2 detox! What else is there to say about that?? :confused3 :rolleyes1
Looks like we're all kickin' butt this week...Keep up the good work!!
marie
I did very good yesterday. I did have a NF Chai Latte (DH surprised me with one, I can't turn it down!) but other than that I avoided all junk. There really isn't anything junky left in the house, which is a good thing. DH had to take DD to tap since my van is still in the shop. Apparently the coolant was leaking into the engine - not a good thing! And it is only 5 years old with 63k miles on it! :mad: I also had to get a couple other things done, brakes, alignment, etc. So $1700 later... :eek: But I figure it has been paid off for over a year and a half and this is what, 4 months of payments? Plus it's the only work I've ever had done on it, so I have to choke it down and get over it! If I can get another 4 years out of it, I will be happy! And I will have also saved up enough $$ to buy a new vehicle with cash!! :thumbsup2
So my friend (the one who newly joined the gym) is picking me up tonight to go to Abs-n-Buns (30min) followed by Cardio Mix (60min). It'll be interesting, I usually don't go to evening classes like this (I'd rather be home with my family) but I think we will plan on doing this once a week. It's nice to have someone relying on me to work out with them!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marie, more like poor US!!! Beagles are notorious for getting a scent and going (and going and going...). They can never be left off a leash, no matter how well-trained they are (and Buckley isn't even that well trained! :rolleyes: ). I still feel really fat and bloated, I thought that would have gone away after a couple days of behaving. Apparently I've done more damage than I thought... :confused3

Hi Amy
Naughty Buckley, but i have to admit it made me giggle reading how he has had you all running around :)
Sorry about the car trouble, the joys of driving eh!
Hope you have a good session at the gym tonight & glad to hear food is going well, those lb's will be melting away :)

Hi Amy, that naughty Buckley! Beagles do love to run. I can already tell Daisy has wandering intentions! I have to take her our front since the backyard is so deep with snow I wouldn't find her until spring,and I see her tugging on the leash and sniffing the air. What have I gotten myself into? YOu are doing incredibly well with your food and exercise. You are really hitting it hard and its gonna pay off! 2007 is our year here on the WISH and I am ready and I know you are too! Keep it up!

I made it through Cardio Mix and Abs-n-Buns!!! The Cardio Mix was TOUGH! But I did every single jumping jack and all the jogging. My friend did most of it, but she hasn't worked out very much in the past... I was beat afterwards, I really got a great 90min workout. :thumbsup2 Next week she said she was going to set up a line of Bosu balls to do something with those. This time it was all floor work (no steps or anything).

I made my new recipe of the week last night and it was good! It was Mini Turkey Loaves. It was ground turkey, apple, onion, Dijon, oatmeal and some spices, baked in a muffin tin! I had 3 "loaves" which was one serving and 210 calories. I had some SF Jello and SF chocolate for dessert. I am hoping for a decent weigh-in tomorrow. As long as it is less than 144 I will be happy! I want to stay on track and lose 1-2lb per week. Knowing how my body loves the pounds, I will be satisfied with 1lb per week... :rolleyes1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracey, keep the pep talks coming, I need it! I can usually do really good for about 2 weeks, then I fall apart... :confused3
Amy, you are right, we are going to show '07 who's boss! Buckley has never seen snow, he'd probably freak out, he is such a little wimp!!
Amy,
You are doing a great job! Sending you some :wizard: for weigh in tomorrow. I hope it goes well for you!:goodvibes
Keep up the good work!:cheer2:
Weigh in this morning was 141. I have gotten rid of all the holiday pounds! :yay: My goal for next Fri is to be 139 or less. I can do it! :cheer2: I did great with eating, basically there was no time to snack. I had to take DS10 to the pediatric dentist for a consultation on getting 4 bottom (baby) teeth pulled. His regular dentist won't do it because the roots are not dissolved yet and are surrounding the permanent teeth. Turns out the roots are so long the poor kid needs to be sedated to pull them! The dentist said he could try it without sedation, but it might be a traumatic experience. I say drug the kid!!! Then I had to take DD7 to the Urgent Care because she fell off her bike on Wed and had a golf ball lump on her knee. She said it was better yesterday morning, but after PE she called me, crying that it hurt so bad. But once she found out there was a 2 hour wait at Urgent Care and that she was going to miss a Chuck E Cheese b-day party, it suddenly got better... :rolleyes: So we left without even seeing the Dr...
Tonight I am going to meet my friend for Abs-n-Buns and then we will do a little cardio. She is really motivating me to go to the gym, I hope she doesn't lose her drive!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, thanks! WI was a little disappointing at first, but that is 3lbs gone in 1 week, so that is a good thing. I am just disgusted that I got into the 140's to begin with, but I'll get over it...

Congrats on losing those holiday lb's :banana: :banana: :banana:

Your doing a fantastic job with food & exercise, so good you've even managed to motivate me!!!
Glad DD was ok. As for the dentist - i agree with you :)
Have a healthy happy weekend
Tracey
