AmyM's Quest for a Better Bikini Body!

Yesterday work was super busy and today is starting off the same. Oh well, it makes the day go by fast and keeps my mind off daydreaming about my cruise! We are getting a car service to take us to the airport on Sat (since we have to be there by 8am). My mom and kids are picking us up when we get back, but that's at a more decent hour! I might have DD skip tap today, we don't get back until 6:45pm and then she'll want to trick-or-treat, and dinner and showers... I'd rather have her trick or treat right at 6pm when it gets dark! We'll see, I know she was wanting to wear her pirate costume to tap. Yesterday I drank 76.9oz water, 8oz green tea, 16.9oz diet green tea:

6:15am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:30am: LF Cottage Cheese; Apple
11:30am: Spinach Salad (w/chicken, cheese, red pepper, LF dressing)
3:00pm: Low Carb Yogurt
6:30pm: Chicken; Broccoli; Goldfish; Mini Almond Joy
8:00pm: LF Cottage Cheese
WORKOUT: Weights (30min); Elliptical (35min)
RESISTED: More Halloween candy

Jane, I got sick THEN passed out (thankfully in that order!). And you should have seen some of the e-mails from my "friends" yesterday. A bunch of comedians! I won't be making that mistake again anytime soon. NOT FUN!!!

Marie, there was nothing I could do about the hangover food. The only thing that sounded good was greasy junk. And even that was pushing it! I did sneak a peek on the scale and I didn't gain (or lose) so I am moving on!!! I did bail on the chip challenge - I had a couple pretzels on Sat and some Goldfish last night. I know, I'm pathetic!!! :confused3

Have fun trick or treating with your kids! I'm glad your feeling better. So sorry that you didn't lose any weight - better luck next time! :drinking:

Boy did I ever blow it! I was trying to behave but failed miserably. I ate WAY too much junk last night! What the heck am I doing right before my cruise?!??!? I tried on all my sundresses last night to make sure they still fit before packing them. One of them is snug but it fits, but I will have to wear it on the first night of the cruise, since it won't fit for long. I can't believe I am in this situation. I am already at my heaviest, I have no wiggle room and I know I will gain at least 5lbs on the cruise. Not the best scenario. :confused3 Oh well, there is not much I can do about it now! I drank 80oz water, 16oz green tea, 16.9oz diet green tea:

6:15am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:30am: LF Cottage Cheese; Pear
11:30am: Spinach Salad (w/chicken, red pepper, cheese, LF dressing)
2:30pm: Low Carb Yogurt; Apple
4:30pm: Frosted Sugar Cookie (courtesy of DS); Cheez-Its :guilty:
6:00pm: Crockpot Pork Roast w/Celery-n-Onion; Mini Kit Kat
8:00pm: Chocolate/Vanilla Bundt Cake (courtesy of neighbor); Mini Almond Joy; Mini Take 5 bar :sad2:
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: More chocolate (as if I hadn't eaten enough!)

Jane, it was DH's turn to take the kids trick-or-treating. I handed out the candy. We didn't get too many trick-or-treaters, I was surprised! It seems like there are less and less every year. I brought in the leftovers to work. I will also skim some off the kids' baskets and bring that in too!

I only counted 3 mini candy bars - that's not bad at all on Halloween! Good job taking the candy into work. DH leaves on a biz trip this morning so I can't use that solution this time.

You are going to be ok on your cruise. You are doing some active excursions. Take the stairs everywhere and maybe even check out the fitness center onboard? Also, after your party last weekend, I'm guessing tequila, rum and amaretto are not going to sound so appealing for awhile :rotfl2: . Chocolate covered pretzels maybe off the list of trigger foods too. Had a similar "incident" in college. To this day, I don't like oreos...

Have a Great trip!!! :sunny:

We don't get very many trick or treaters either. My neighbor & her boyfriend came running over in costumes to see how we were doing. We tried to give them a bunch of candy because they rang the doorbell and yelled "trick or treat" - but they refused to take any. :sad2: They were stuck with a bunch of leftovers too. I always overdo my candy buying!

Have fun on your cruise! :beach:

Hmm, let's see what is on my mind today. :sunny: :beach: :boat: :sail: Yep, that about sums it up! But I have to deal with :hourglass :hourglass :hourglass and it's just not fair! I did great with my eating yesterday, and I got to the gym. The plan is to go today for a cardio-only session. That will fulfill my goal of getting to the gym 3x this week. Tomorrow we have tons of last minute shopping to to, not to mention finish packing and getting the house decent (my mother is staying here with the kids, I'd rather she didn't have to deal with our filth!). I am taking workout gear on the cruise, I have a plan to work out 3x (the 2 sea days and the one where we don't get to port until 12:30pm). NO EXCUSES!!! I am going to try to make this an enjoyable trip that is not all about food. We'll see... Yesterday I drank 76.9oz water, 16oz green tea, 16.9oz diet green tea:

6:20am: Chocolate Oatmeal
9:45am: LF Cottage Cheese; Apple
11:30am: Spinach Salad (w/chicken, red pepper, cheese, LF dressing)
2:45pm: Low Carb Yogurt; Pear
5:30pm: Celery-n-PB
6:45pm: Turkey Cheeseburger (no bun); Zucchini; Mini Baby Ruth; Tootsie Roll (long skinny one)
WORKOUT: Weights (30min); Treadmill (35min)
RESISTED: Candy at work, more candy after dinner :cheer2:

Anna, on the Disney cruise, I took the stairs everywhere and worked out twice and still gained 7lbs... And that was without much drinking! But you are right, the excursions are more active this time and I will be more careful with my food choices (I might just order the "low fat" chicken or salmon every night instead of the fancy stuff - that way I can still have dessert and not feel too guilty!).

Jane, too bad you couldn't get rid of your candy! One of the orthodontist offices here pays $1/lb for candy then they ship it off to the soldiers in Iraq. What a great idea!

Amy you are doing great! Awesome getting a workout in and getting ready for your cruise! You are so good with your eating too. I am very impressed with the lack of halloween candy in your diet! :rotfl2: Enjoy your trip and you will get right back on track when you get back.

That is a great idea. I'm sure most people don't even want the stupid $1. Thats got to be a great morale booster for the troops knowing that people are thinking about them.

Great job on getting in your workouts this week. :cheer2:

You've got a great plan for the cruise. Enjoy yourself, get lots of exercise on those excursions, and have fun!:dancer:

I am SO stressed out right now!!!!! I am not even packed, work is killing me... :scared: :crazy2:  But I am so excited we are leaving tomorrow!!! Weigh in this morning was 139. Not even close to where I wanted to be, but at least I haven't gained anything in the past couple weeks! I will be able to get serious when I get back because the next thing I have to worry about isn't until the Greece trip in Dec... Thanksgiving is not that bad for me, I've been able to behave in the past. I did not get to work out yesterday since I had to work until 5pm (only scheduled until 3:30). And I am so busy I don't know if I will be able to get off early today (I brought my gym bag just in case!). I did come in 1/2 hr late today and got a load of laundry started and one in the washer with the timer on so it will get done and ready to put in the dryer right when I get home. That leaves only 2 loads to do tonight. DH is going to get off a couple minutes early and run a couple errands, which will take a lot of stress off my shoulders! It'll all work out fine, I just need to relax! At least we got all the Halloween decorations taken down last night, that was a big chore! I was not hungry for dinner (it was leftover night) so that's why it looks kinda weird... Yesterday I drank 80oz water, 16oz green tea, 16.9oz diet green tea:

6:15am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:40am: LF Cottage Cheese; NSA Strawberry Applesauce
11:30am: Spinach Salad (w/chicken, cheese, red pepper, LF dressing)
2:30pm: Low Carb Yogurt; Apple
5:30pm: Celery-n-PB
6:45pm: 4 chunks turkey sausage; LF Cottage Cheese; Mini Almond Joy; Mini Snickers
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: More chocolate

Anna, I have been indulging in 1 or 2 mini bars per night. But in the past I would have done way more damage, so this is a good thing! Plus I am so stressed out I don't even feel like eating anything...

Jane, I don't know if I'll be able to get in that third workout of the week, but I'm gonna try! It'll take some stress away, that's for sure! So I hope I can get off work an hour early to at least get some cardio in.

This is my last post before my cruise. Everyone behave and I'll catch up with you when I get back!!!! :wave2:

Have fun Amy! I am so bummed I didn't get a chance to tell you "goodbye" before you left! I ended up having computer problems all week and only got one post to my own journal before it crashed. In any case when you read this, you'll be home. Don't worry about weight you gain, comes on fast, comes off fast too! I'll be thinking about you this week on your tropical getaway!

Amy, have a great trip! Don't worry about getting in your workouts - have fun! This is the time to destress! pixiedust:

Hi Amy

I hope you have a wonderful trip!! I know you are already gone, but still, have a great time :)

The cruise was FANTASTIC!!!!!! We all had a blast, even my friend that stepped on a sea urchin (OUCH!). Now for the bad news - I gained 4lbs. But that is great compared to the last cruise, where I gained 7!!! So I am confident that by eating right this week most of those will be gone by the weekend. Things are super busy at work and home, so I won't be able to get to the gym until Fri (have to go grocery shopping today, plus laundry, and on Wed, DS has an orthodontist appt). But I have to get that stuff taken care of... I did work out once on the ship. I did attempt to work out a second time, but all the treadmills were taken so I left... I managed to scrape together some stuff for my meals today (there is NO food in the house!) and I am determined to get right back on track with my eating. DH called from Costco and said they had a pumpkin cheesecake. I told him if he wanted to see another day, he better not bring one home!

Welcome back!!!!! So glad you had a great trip with minimal weightgain! I find that after gaining weight on a trip, it usually falls off quickly after resuming normal eating again. Sounds like you successfully got your point across to dh NOT to bring home that cheesecake! :rotfl2: Will you post any pics of your cruise? What were your highlights? I went on a 3 day cruise as a teenager to the Bahamas, but nothing since. I must live vicariously through you! Have a great week!

Welcome Home Amy! I am so glad you had fun, I thought about you all week you lucky dog! Did Buckley survive with you gone? Way to go telling dh to NOT bring home the pumpkin cheesecake (OMG I love that stuff but its so fattening)! Four pounds is nothing for that lenght of a trip, you'll have that off in no time. I know you will get right back on track. Again, welcome home, we missed you around here!

I did great with my eating! Didn't get to the gym, but that was expected. I won't be getting there until Friday, but there is not much I can do about it, so I'm not going to stress! The main thing for me is to get my eating back in control, which is going good so far. I am hoping to have those 4 lbs off by weigh-in on Friday. I know that is a stretch goal, but that is what I am shooting for. It's mostly water weight anyway! We are hosting Thanksgiving again and I need to figure out what I am going to make. I don't do too much since people always bring stuff. I'll probably do a turkey, stuffing, rolls, veggie tray, sweet potato-n-banana casserole and cookies. My MIL makes the pumpkin pies and my SIL usually brings cranberry sauce and tamales (DH is 1/2 Mexican) and other people usually bring other stuff. I need to remember to make the stuffing this time, last year I forgot! Remember I didn't have any groceries yesterday, which is why my food looks odd... I drank 76oz water and 16.9oz diet green tea:

6:30am: Egg Beaters w/Cheese
8:30am: Yogurt; NSA Strawberry Applesauce
11:30am: PB Sandwich on 7 Grain; Peanuts (15)
3:15pm: 2 LF Laughing Cow Wedges; Apple
6:15pm: Rotisserie Chicken; Broccoli; Soy Crisps (2 servings); SF Jello w/Soy Whip
8:45pm: Handful of Golden Grahams (~1/3c)
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: Candy; Cheez-Its

CJK, I stepped on the scale this morning and 2lbs were gone already, so I just have 2 to go. Of course I was not at a pleasant weight before I left, but at least I will have gotten rid of all the party pounds! I will probably post some pix, I just don't know when I'll have time. My favorite stop was St. Thomas. We took the ferry over to St. John and hiked to a secluded beach. It was absolutely gorgeous and we are planning a week long trip there sometime (this time with the kids!).

Amy, I think the right question is if my mom survived Buckley! :lmao: Actually, he was fine, my mom thinks he is a riot so I'm sure he got spoiled too. He did manage to eat the battery cover off the DVD player remote while we were gone... My mom said she was so exhausted and she doesn't know how she managed to get all the kid stuff done back when she was raising my brother and me! She said her extra set of arms must have fallen off when we got older...

Hi Amy,
Glad you had a great cruise, you did well to only gain 4lbs :)
Sorry about your bad experience with your ex & DD, i have had a similier problem this weekend, DD's friends had sighned her up for a charity concert that she cant do cos she has to go to her dads! She was a bit upset last night she didnt want to let her friends down but i told her that she's not let them down as they can still go ahead with it & i cheered her up cos shes sleeping over at her cousins on Saturday :)

Greece??? Netherlands???? I want your job!!
What do you do?
Hope you get to go :)

I am so lucky to have such a wonderful DH! He took DD to tap AND took the library books back last night so I could catch up on laundry and unpacking. I usually take her to tap since he takes her to ballet and soccer practice, so it was really a sweet thing for him to offer! And for a change I didn't hang out around the kitchen, snacking on junk I don't need. I did have some PB, but nothing over the top. Still no workout, but I am planning to go tomorrow! I bet I'll be sore... :confused3 Yesterday I drank 80oz water, 16oz green tea, 16.9oz diet green tea:

6:20am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:30am: LF Cottage Cheese, NSA Strawberry Applesauce
11:30am: Spinach Salad (w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing); Soy Crisps
2:30pm: Low Carb Yogurt; Apple
5:00pm: PB (2tbsp)
6:15pm: Crockpot Pork Roast w/Carrots-n-Onion; SF Jello w/Soy Whip
8:30pm: Reese's Stick (oh my, this was heavenly, lucky for me I sent ALL the remaining Halloween candy to work with DH!)
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: More Halloween candy

Tracey, I still haven't heard about the Greece trip and it sounds like the Netherlands won't be until next year, which is fine with me! I can't believe the holidays are already approaching. We try to get all our shopping done by the end of November. It's not going to happen this year... :sad2: I am an engineer and in my position I am the technical voice of reason for all the business-types (have to keep them in line!)

Welcome Back Amy! It sounds like your trip was great and 4 lbs will be a snap for you to take off. Sounds like you are right back on track already. I loved the pumpkin cheesecake story :rotfl2: . You do have a great DH to take DD to dance class. Glad you are getting all caught up. Have a great rest of the week. :sunny:
