AmyM's Quest for a Better Bikini Body!

Amy, I just caught up with you. I am so bummed you are going through this, its not fair at all. You are working hard and want and deserve results. I hope this new dr. can help you, I am betting they can. And I am wondering about the water thing too, ever since I started drinking this much water my weight loss has slowed to a trickle. I weigh way more than you do but still wonder if I drink too much. Hang in there, don't give up but maybe not keeping all of this on your front burner and moving it to the back will be good. Keep doing your best and journaling but until they can figure out your homones you may not be able to pinpoint the cause enough to solve this problem. Your food is great, even though you don't weigh what you want, you are undoubtedly one of the healthiest people I know with your food choices and exercise. You have so many wonderful habits that you must be feeling good about what you put into your body and your level of activity. Keep thinking about that. Think about people you know who live on crap (fast food, junk, regular soda's, too many preservative laden foods). You don't do that and just remember how much ahead of the game you are over people who make those kind of choices. Please hang in there and keep those rants coming, thats what WISH is for. And its better than chowing on a half gallon of ice cream!

Amy,

So sorry you're continuing to have so much trouble, I do hope you can find some answers from the dietician etc. Good luck with that!! :goodvibes

Hope the soreness goes away as well. Sounds like you really overdid it and used some muscles that weren't used to being challenged that way! Have you been back to that class, and maybe working it again over time will help??

Hang in there, you always do great! :sunny:

I didn’t make it to the gym yesterday. I was really tired, plus my mom called and wanted to come over (she had some very disturbing family drama to drop on me). So needless to say, it was not a good day. :sad2: I oversnacked and didn’t work out. And I wonder why I am still in the 140’s… :confused3 I am really bummed about things but hopefully I will snap out of it soon. I called my Dr to get a referral to the ND and she was trying to send me to a different MD. I told the nurse that called that I wanted to see the ND, end of story, give me the referral. And of course I haven't heard back yet. If I don't hear anything today, I will call tomorrow. And if I have to change my Dr and find one who WILL give me a referral, I will do that. It's not like I go to the Dr very much anyway! Yesterday I drank 60oz water, 2 cups green tea, 18oz Diet Fuze and a DC:

6:00am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:30am: FF Cottage Cheese; Cantaloupe
11:30am: Spinach Salad (w/chicken, red & orange peppers, FF Feta, bacon, LF dressing); Baby Carrots
2:30pm: 3 Egg Whites; Blueberries
4:45pm: Trail Mix (~1c)
7:00pm: Wheat Spaghetti (1/2c); Parmesan Cheese (2tbsp); Single Scoop NY Cheesecake ice cream in a cup :cloud9:
WORKOUT: None :guilty:
RESISTED: Garlic Bread; Sauce on spaghetti; 8 more lbs of trail mix

Chris, thanks for stopping by! The new class must have worked different parts of my legs that I obviously don't work on that often. I can finally walk up the stairs without wincing today, so that is a good sign!

Jamie, NDs are supposed to be more understanding and listen to the patient to find the root cause, so I hope I can get somewhere. I am only taking healthy food camping, I should do OK!

Amy, thanks for that pep talk, I really needed it. I like your idea about putting it on the back burner. I think that is what I need to do. Hopefully the insurance BS gets straightened out soon so I can make my appointment with the ND. I don't know why they have to make it so difficult!

Kate, the class is only on Saturdays. I won't be there this Sat since we are camping, but I plan on going the following Sat. It'll be interesting to see if I get sore again.

I hate this busy server! Just lost my post to you. I should remember to post later!

I got worn out just reading about your Boscu ball work out - great job! No wonder why you're sore and tired.

Sorry you're having family drama - thats always a stressor.

Glad your going to see an ND - stick to your guns - don't let that nurse push you around!

I hope this week gets better for your! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Never mind about the bad eating day, you have to treat yourself once in a while, just get back on the 'wagon'
Sorry to hear you've had some disturbing family news.
Hope you get the doc & referral sorted out! Its not nice when they make you feel worse!!!

I actually got a workout in yesterday! :cheer2: I felt really guilty not going to the gym on Monday, so now at least I have made up that time. I won’t be going to the gym on Friday either since we are leaving early, so I might have to go tomorrow and just do cardio or something. I definitely don’t want to fall behind on my exercise challenge, it’s too hard to catch back up! Yesterday I drank 80oz water, 2 cups green tea, a Minute Maid Light and a DC:

6:00am: Kashi Crunch; FF Yogurt; Blueberries
8:30am: FF Cottage Cheese; Cantaloupe
11:30am: Spinach Salad (w/chicken, red & orange peppers, FF Feta, bacon, LF dressing); Baby Carrots; 8 Peanuts
2:30pm: LF String Cheese; Strawberries; 5 Peanuts
7:00pm: Grilled Tequila Lime Turkey Tenderloin; Broccoli; Mashed Potatoes; SF/FF Pudding
WORKOUT: Pilates Sculpt DVD (55min)
RESISTED: Trail Mix, Cereal, Potato Chips

Jane, I finally got my referral! Of course it isn't until mid-Sept, but I guess it's better than nothing. Also, to use my insurance, I have to have student appointments (it's at the SW Naturopathic College Clinic). That means 2 students come talk to me, then they have a roundtable with the Dr, then all 3 come in and talk to me. I guess 3 heads are better than 1, huh? My friend did it and she loved it, so it can't be all that bad...

Tracey, I'd rather treat myself with cheesecake instead of 2lbs of trail mix. I wish DH would stop buying it. I know he's going to take some camping, I will just have to take some different snacks for myself. It's not that trail mix is bad to eat, it's just bad because I eat huge quantities...

Sorry if i sound dumb, but what exactly is trail mix???
I imagine nuts & stuff!!!!

I'm glad you got an appointment. You can use the 4 weeks to better document your symptoms. Maybe you'll be able to detect a pattern. Great job on getting in your workout. Just as I started going to the beach to walk we got red tide and now I can't go! :furious: I hope it doesn't last this time.

Amy, I am really glad you got your referral. I hate it when I need something like that from a doctor since they are not usually all that cooperative in giving it to me! That will indeed give you some time to really document your symptoms etc. Help is on the way, that must feel good! Sounds like your food is good and that you recouped nicely from when your mom came over and you snacked some. Families are so good at dropping bombshells that must be dealt with via food aren't they? I hope you have a great time camping. Take something you really love to eat to avoid the trail mix! Personally one mouthful of trail mix and I am done for so I know how you feel! Keep up the good work. How are you feeling since you reduced your water?

I finally got to the gym. I don’t know why it felt like it’d been forever, I was just there on Sunday! :crazy: I plan on going today after work since I will not be able to go tomorrow. I’ll be doing cardio only. The plan is to get up early tomorrow and do a workout DVD before we leave. DH is still going to work (1/2 day) so it shouldn’t be too hard to get my lazy bones out of bed! The kids are pretty excited about starting school on Monday. I think they just want to use their new backpacks and school supplies… :confused3 Yesterday I drank 80oz water, 2 cups green tea, a Minute Maid Light and a DC:

6:00am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:30am: FF Cottage Cheese; Cantaloupe
11:30am: Spinach Salad (w/Tequila Lime Turkey, red & orange peppers, FF Feta, bacon, LF dressing); Snap Peas-n-Hummus
2:30pm: 3 Egg Whites; Blueberries; 8 Peanuts
6:30pm: Cheeseburger Pie; Carrots; SF/FF Pudding
8:30pm: 1/4c Double Chocolate Cookie Crisp
WORKOUT: Weights (30min); Treadmill (30min)
RESISTED: Trail Mix; Cheez-Its; another piece of Cheeseburger Pie; more cereal
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracey, the trail mix we get is peanuts, cashews, almonds, raisins and M&M's. It is WAY TOO GOOD!
Jane, bummer about the beach! Especially when you are mentally prepared to work out and suddenly you can't. I filled out the gazillion questions on the form the Naturopath sent me yesterday. I can't wait to go! I know I won't get fixed overnight, but I think as long as they listen to me and try SOMETHING, I'll be happy.
Amy, I actually snacked BEFORE my mom gave me the news, so I can't use that as an excuse... :rolleyes1 I am going to input the next 3 days worth of food on FitDay and take the printouts with me when we go camping. NO EXCUSES to stray! I might go up to 1500 calories on one of the days so I can feel like I am getting away with something I shouldn't be...
Ahh now i know what trail mix is!!
MY DF eats something very similer & loves it :)
The spinach salad sounds yummy. :thumbsup2
Amy, I hope you don't have to fly anywhere soon for work. I know you said you're going to be flying more since you got promoted. I couldn't believe the changes that occurred overnight with our airports. I felt so bad for all of the people who were stuck. Dh's nephew is a pilot for JAL, and he says that they don't have sky marshalls on their planes. With all of this craziness going on I really worry about him. Be careful on those international flights!
Great job with the plan of attack for camping! Have a fun trip! :cool1:
Hi Amy, maybe you had that "feeling" your mom was coming over to drop something on you! Sometimes I'll start snacking, then my mom will call with some latest crisis and it will all make sense! Way to go planning in some structured indulgence into your camping trip by bumping up your caloric intake one day. That way you will have something to look forward to without going hog wild. My son is excited to start school too, I think its also his backpack and all those 8th grade girls (he's in 6th) he'll be able to be around! I hope you have a great weekend camping. We'll "see" you next week! Does Buckley get to go too?
We are back from camping. It was quite an adventure. On the way up is started pouring rain and all our stuff got soaked. :umbrella: And to top it all off, the windshield wipers on DH's truck decided to stop working intermittently. So he had to pull over at one point, get out (and drenched) and try to wiggle them into working. They finally started again, but what a total pain! It rained the whole day on Friday, but we spent the time in the trailer, playing cards and games. Saturday was perfect all day, so that made up for it! We took a 70 minute walkabout (I'll count 30min) and then DS and I took Buckley for a 30 minute walk (I thought the dog was going to die from all that exercising, plus elevation - 6000ft). Foodwise I did pretty good. On Sat I ate some Pringles that were not scheduled and also a small handful of trail mix and 3 extra marshmallows... But I still did pretty good, especially compared to some previous trips... Also, I did 35 minutes of Biggest Loser Intense Cardio followed by 25 minutes of Pilates before leaving on Friday! :cheer2:
More insurance drama - on Thursday afternoon I got a call from my insurance, who told me that naturopathic medicine is not covered by my plan. Now, I actually called my insurance BEFORE I called my Dr to get the referral and they said it was covered. Then, the naturopath called and got the OK from my insurance too. I asked the insurance person how that could have happened and she said that whoever we spoke to was mistaken and that even though the insurance company covers naturopaths, my particular plan does not. :furious: :furious: :furious: So I decided that I am too fed up with all my funky body issues and SCREW THE INSURANCE, I am just going to have to pay for it on my own. I did cancel the appointment I made and got another appointment (with my first choice ND) for Tuesday. She specializes in nutrition, women's health and she tests hormones and stuff like that. So Tuesday I will hopefully be on a different, more successful path!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracey, I got a huge tub of spinach from Costco (warehouse store) so I have to eat it all before it goes bad! That's why I've been eating salad every day. Plus it's yummy!

Jane, I don't have to travel until October/November, but there were 3 people in my group that had to leave for the UK this weekend. Needless to say, they were NOT HAPPY about the new restrictions, but what can you do? :confused3

Amy, DS has a teacher that is brand new to the school. It was pretty interesting because we stopped at his gifted class first (there is only 1 gifted teacher, so he has her every year) and she told him that his new teacher has NO IDEA of his bad behavior and that he has a great opportunity to make a good first impression. I could have kissed her on the spot, I always tell him that kind of stuff, but of course he nevers listens because it comes from mom. :rolleyes1 Maybe he'll listen to his gifted teacher! Yes, Buckley goes camping with us. He does pretty good!

Kate, thanks. I like going, but it's good to be back.

Hey Amy...glad the rain stopped for ya!! I remember the one and only time I went camping when I was a kid....it rained the WHOLE time...and we were miserable!!
Good luck w/ the ND....let us know what happens!

marie

Glad the weather cleared up for you, although it sounds fun playing cards & games in the trailer!!
Reading your post makes me appreciate the National Health here in the UK (we get free health care) people are always moaning about the quality of care! We do get the choice to pay & go private, but it is very expensive!
Well done on the healthy eating & all the exercise you got in on your trip :)

I don’t know how I can do perfectly fine camping, only to come home and totally blow it! I had a really bad food day yesterday and there was absolutely no excuse for it. :guilty: I was feeling really bloated and gross, which is probably one of the reasons. I weighed 141 this morning, I’m wondering if it would have been less if I would have behaved… :confused3 Oh well, can’t change the past and today starts a brand new week! :cool1:

I felt awful this morning because it was the kids’ first day of school and they both looked so nice in their new school clothes. I wanted to take a picture and DS10 didn’t want to be in the same picture with DD7. I told him that I wanted to put it on my desktop at work, so he stepped over by her. Of course then he wouldn’t smile and I told him to smile and he snapped at me, saying he didn’t know how to smile. :furious: That REALLY ticked me off and then I did something stupid – I told him he was a brat and asked him why did he have to ruin my memory of their first day of the school year… :sad2: At the time I didn’t realize that I was probably ruining his memory by calling him a brat. :guilty: :guilty: I wish I could take this morning back. I just feel awful about it. I hope he goes on to have a good day at school, but who knows after the send-off he got this morning… He gave me a hug before he left, so it can’t be that bad, right? Yesterday I drank 60oz water, 8oz FF Chai Latte, a Minute Maid Light and ½ a DC:

7:00am: FF Yogurt; Frosted Mini Wheats w/Skim Milk
11:00am: Protein Bar
1:00pm: 3/4c Pumpkin “Pie”; 2 very small, thin crust cheese pizza slices; Toast-n-Jam (1)
4:30pm: Trail Mix (~1c); Teddy Grahams (25) :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:
6:45pm: Pork Chop; 3 Cheese Potatoes (1/2c); Zucchini; Teddy Grahams (1/2 box) :sad2: :sad2:
8:00pm: Peppermint Patties (2) :sad2:
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: Nothing, I ate way too much junk!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marie, I am not a big fan of camping, especially when all my stuff is wet! But I like going to our property, we have a trailer that stays up there, so it is pretty nice.
Tracey, I think people are not happy with whatever they are given! If we had free health care in the US, people would complain about it too. It's not like I am in the poor house, and I can afford to go see the naturopath, it just ticks me off that I had to jump through all these hoops. If they would have just told me it wasn't covered from the get-go, I wouldn't be so angry about it! :rolleyes:
Amy, yesterday's done, today is here and you will get right back on track. And boy can I relate to your experience with the picture taking drama. My son never wants to have his picture taken with his sister, he won't smile and I end up doing just what you did! We all have moments with our kids, its part of the process and they all survive it. I am sure your son will have a great day at school and who knows, maybe next time he'll smile for the camera! I hope today gets better, sending a bit of good cheer your way! And that is so great you did so well camping and got so much exercise in. One day of a few too many teddy grams isn't going to wipe out all your other good days! Also, thats great your son is getting a new teacher and a fresh start. I'll bet this will be a great year for him.
I also forgot to add that its great you went ahead and make the appt. with the naturopathic doctor of your choice. Insurance companies just kill me. But maybe its for the best since you can choose who you go to. Do you have a cafeteria plan at work you can use to help pay the bill? We used to have that and boy do I miss it. Let us know how it goes tomorrow with that and good luck!
