Amy-28, My life partner and life long Disney addict
Chelle-Me, 32, Amy inducted me into the Disney addict club back in 2000 and I've never been the same.
Monday, February 2nd
We woke up at 6:30 a.m., got ready and had a quick breakfast at the food court. Boarded the bus for the Animal Kingdom and we were on our way! We arrived at 7:45 a.m. so we could enjoy the early magic hour. We leisurely strolled through the oasis and discovery island as the mass of people headed to the thrill rides. I love this park. It is actually my favorite park along with the Magic Kingdom. I am a huge animal lover and really enjoy all the lush vegetation and the atmosphere of the park. It felt like we had the park to ourselves because no one else was near discovery island. We watched the otters, flamingos, kangaroos and peacocks for quite awhile. The kangaroos were very active and a joy to watch! We walked around the Tree of Life for a few photos and then decided to do ITTBAB. The show seemed different than what I remembered; perhaps they changed it a little or my memory is going.
We hadn't done this attraction in a couple of years, so maybe it has been changed.
Next was Dinoland! We rode Triceratops Spin and Primevil Whirl. Then we rode Dinosaur two times in a row. We love our thrill rides! After that we decided on a second spin on Primevil Whirl. I really enjoyed this much more than I had on previous trips. Could have had something to do with the fact that I had lost 120 pounds since our last trip, so I wasn't squished into the seat!
Next up was Tarzan Rocks. We had not seen this on previous trips and wanted to make a point and see it; so we did. I enjoyed it much more than I had expected. I had read some not so great reviews, so my expectations were not very high. I thought it was fun. Amy, on the other hand, did not enjoy it much.
We trekked over to Asia. Amy stopped for a pot sticker at the Chicken shack. She loves these! We walked through the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Tigers were mostly sleeping-seems like they always are. I love the bats!! We always spend some time visiting my friendly bats. After our trek through the jungle we headed to Africa. We grabbed a couple of fastpasses for the Kilimanjaro Safari and went to Tusker House for lunch. The rotisserie chicken was yummy. After lunch it was time for our safari. This was the best safari experience we have had yet! Animals were everywhere! Zebras and bongos so close you could almost touch them. The elephants were very active and we had a fun and energetic driver, too! Went straight into the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail to visit the gorillas. Saw a baby and mommy--very sweet.
We then did a little shopping in Africa and Amy had an ice cream. Then we staked out our spot for the afternoon parade and waited for it to come by. This is my favorite of the afternoon parades. It is so colorful and lively--always a good time.
Then we headed back to the resort and decided on a swim before dinner. Pool was nice and warm, but we were chilly after we got out. Once again we had dinner at the food court.
Tomorrow back to the Magic Kingdom!
