"Amuck, amuck, amuck!" A Pre-TR (link to TR in the first post)

DD starts college on Monday. Lots of drama the last few days. My students start Monday, so I went in for a couple of hours today to get some last minute things done.
Now I don't know if I can go to DL in Oct. We just found out DH's cousin is getting married that weekend. I picked that weekend because DH is in meetings all day Sat. and Sun, but the wedding is in the evening, so he would be able to make it to that. I guess it depends on if my friend is still interested in going to DL w/me. I just wanted it to be easy.

Is DD going to college near home? I hope your friend will go with you. I would.

Yes, DD is going to SJSU, about 20 minutes from our house. Good thing, because she forgot to turn in the housing request. One of the things causing drama was that I was trying to show her how to take public transit to school, because parking is CARP there. She was too busy all summer, waited until I was getting ready to get up in front of 80 families at kinder orientation, and then calls and complains that I haven't shown her how to take the light rail, and where is she supposed to get off. :sad2: I was tempted to tell her where to get off.;)
If the trip works out, you're welcome to join us. We don't really have a plan yet, but probably leaving San Jose Friday (10/17) after school, coming back Sunday afternoon.

How nice that she is going to be home still. I think I am going to suffer from empty nest syndrome when my youngest goes to college if they aren't local. Well at least for a few days.:rotfl:

Thank you that is sweet of you. I am trying to figure out a way to convince DH to let me go to the ladys only trip in March.

I take it you teach kindergarten? I used to work in the DS class and I loved it. The teacher and I are still friendly. All three kids had her. If people wouldn't think I was a wierdo I would still volunteer at the elementary school I love the little ones.

You are welcome to volunteer in my class. You are only a couple of hours away.:rotfl: I started out volunteering in DD's class. When my librarian position was cut, I knew kinder was the place for me.

I have mixed feelings about DD living at home. I know I would miss her, but the hormones are still pretty strong, and she's a lot like I was at 18 - a grouchy know-it-all. No wonder my parents "encouraged" me to go away to school.

Sorry for the hijacking, Beth.:flower3:

I am thankful for that though, two girls fighting over the bathroom mirror is enough.:rotfl:
No kidding! I am dreading when the girls are older. Shoot, the hair products and make-up alone are going to send me into bankruptcy. :scared1:

Noooooo! You simply must go! I hope your friend can and will go with you. :wizard:

No worries! :)

Beth--I got some really cute travel sized toiletries at DLH. Some are used a bit, but is the bottle not the shampoo/conditioner that's worth saving.

PM me your address if you want them. Cute little Mickey ear lids that I think you'd just love :cloud9:

Looky what came in the mail today! :rotfl:

Mickey travel bottles from the Disneyland hotel!! They really are cute. Love the Mickey ear lids.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know they arrived safe and sound (didn't even leak or spill!) and to say thank you for not only remembering that I like travel size items, but also for taking the time and effort to send them out to me. That was really sweet of you. :goodvibes (see, I am easily pleased! lol)

I love school supplies! LOL
I used to get so excited when I was a kid. I would get new notebooks, crayons, paste...ah, exciting!:rotfl2:
The Boise Schools start on Monday, too. I am excited! I got my desk all cleaned out and the bulletin boards ready.

Is Noelle in middle school? I saw that she goes to school at a different time than the others. Just curious. You better watch out for the boys calling...she is very pretty!

They better not be calling! She's only 11. She has no interest in boys yet. Thank goodness. Her brother picks on her so much, I'm pretty sure she thinks they are all as annoying as him. :rotfl:

She's in middle school and so is Adam, but she has an early morning elective so she has to be there before him. Then he goes in at the regular time and the twins go in later because they are in elementary.

What desk did you get cleaned out?

I love those disneyland hotel toiletries!! Such cute mickey ear tops on those bottles. When I stayed at Coronado Springs at WDW, they had some nice toiletries too, but they weren't anything like that!!

I also think it was great you were able to get the PS for 18 people! I so wish I could make it out for the dis ladies meets. I hope you guys have fun at your mini meet!

My work desk....the last para in the class left it a mess.

Yeah, when I was 11 I was oblivious to boys. Once I got into 7th grade, that changed.:smokin:

I've stayed at CS in WDW too. It's nice, but I don't remember anything like those either.

I wish you could join us too! :yay: We had a really good group last time and I think it will be just as good this time.

Are you trying to scare me?? :sad2: My son is already on the phone way too much with a girl. I mean for over an hour. Doesn't bother me though. Keeps him from picking on his sisters. :rotfl2:

Ah, your work desk. Ok, got it. :thumbsup2

Your son is talking to a girl on the phone??? I don't think I heard him speak once the entire time I was with you all in June.:rotfl:

Oh yeah, he acts all nice and shy in front of strangers. Then people think I'm nuts when I complain about him. I'm sure it's all part of his evil plan. :rotfl:
But trust me, he has a mouth on him. Gets his sarcasm from his mom unfortunately. ;)

Last night Mary Jo posted some of the best pics from last years Halloween party!!! I love them. And I was surprised how much more is decorated at night then during the day.
Anyway, here is the thread if you want to check them out. The costumes are cool too. (scroll down the page for the pics)

I recall my first pangs of interest were even before I was in KINDERGARTEN! I was sitting on my mom's lap eating popcorn and watching a movie at about 2 am and I saw Elvis Presley and I was like... Hmmm...there's something about him that I like and I don't know why!!!

I believe I was 4.

Not right, I know. :rolleyes1

P.S. THat was so nice of grzz... those Mickey eared portables are FANTASTIC! :goodvibes

Well, not quite, but almost. Monday will be the kid's first day back. Needless to say they are thrilled!!

Oh no wait, that's me. ;)

Actually I thought this long, hot summer would never end, and now that it's almost over, I'm going to miss them being home all day. How weird is that?

Yesterday was a Meet and Greet with the twins teachers. And of course the classroom supply list they gave out was different from the one the school sent out, so last night it was another trip to the stores to get even more items.

Plus some new shoe shopping, and hair cuts for all. Including me! I got about two inches taken off. Just a trim really. Same style, but hopefully being a little shorter will give it the appearance of having more volume. We'll see.

This was the mess in our house getting the back packs and things ready to go. Well, some of the mess. It got worse after I took this pic believe it or not.

Today Noelle wants to go through her closet and pick out her clothes for the first week. Such a girl. I suggested Adam do the same thing and he looked at me blankly and said, "Why??" :rotfl:

Tomorrow I told them I'd make a big breakfast with all their favorites because once school starts it's mainly cereal and other quick things during the week. They all have different start times in the morning which should be fun. Noelle has to be there at 7 a.m.!! Then Adam goes in and lastly the twins.

I've been trying to get them back on a school sleep schedule for awhile now but without much luck. Guess they'll be in for a rude awakening once the alarm goes off in the mornings. Ugh, who am I kidding, I will be too! I am not a morning person. :rolleyes1

Well, the start of school means we are that much closer to September! And once September gets here we are a month away from October!! And that much closer to our trip. :mickeyjum :goofy: :donald:

Your trip is coming up so quick! I'm jealous!!

I remember when I was little I LOVED getting new school supplies....but I never got very excited about school.

I saw Elvis Presley and I was like... Hmmm...there's something about him that I like and I don't know why!!!
Maybe it was the sparkly jumpsuit. Hopefully at age 4 it wasn't the pelvic thrust!! ;) :rotfl:

Yeah, the school supplies are fun. School? Not so much. I'm getting read to go pick them up in a little bit and can't wait to hear all about their first day!! :yay:

Oh, and I just had to post this. Yesterday we went to Sam's Club and they are already getting Halloween treats out. We bought some individually packaged pretzels in a big Halloween tub. So cute. And some fruit snacks in Halloween shapes. (spider, cat, bat, ghost, pumpkin and witches hat)

Told ya I'm a sucker for anything in cute packaging. :rolleyes1
But they will come in handy for the kids lunches and also for snacks on the trip.

My Oct. DL trip is definitely off. My friend is having family problems, and DH and I really should go to the cousin's wedding. If we get an invitation, that is.
We are planning to go to DL for New Year's Day and a couple of days after. So I shouldn't complain. But I will, anyway.

Oh man, that's too bad. :guilty: I know you were eager to see the Fall/Halloween decorations and other items. I'm really sorry.

Well, I hope you'll still continue to read along here. If it doesn't bum you out too much that is. I'll promise to take lots of pics and you can live vicariously through us. :)

And maybe make notes of what you'd like to do next October. ;)

I saw a Halloween vest in the arts and crafts building at the CA State Fair yesterday. It looked SO much like your vest. I wish I would have taken a picture of it! It made me think of you, so I had to let you know.
