"Amuck, amuck, amuck!" A Pre-TR (link to TR in the first post)

We had a similar dilemma w/ LV hotels (I'm going w/ my girlfriends in Oct.) I like Mandalay Bay, but it is pretty far. I would stay that far away though, just because I like the hotel so much.

However, out of the three you have narrowed it down to, I would probably try TI. I stayed at the Mirage on our last trip, and I loved the location. TI is right in front of it. I have never stayed there, but it looks like a fun hotel. I also like to try a new hotel on each trip to LV. My goal is to have stayed at all of the ones on the strip one day lol.

I've never made that cake...but that is disgustingly awesome!!

Isn't that something?? :crazy2:

Imagine that at a kids Halloween party! They'd freak out. :lmao: It doesn't seem that hard to make. And I could probably get a small litter pan and scooper for pretty cheap at Target or maybe even the Dollar Store. :scratchin

Ok, it's going on my list of fun ideas to do for the kids for October. I can't wait to see their expressions! I'll have to take some pics and post them. :rotfl:

Anyway, I found this ummmm cake. It's, well, interesting to say the least. Ok, it's nasty looking, but I'm actually toying with the idea of making it!!

It's called a Kitty Litter Cake (that should be your first clue right there!) and here is a link to the recipe and some pics. A word of warning: if you're in the middle of dinner, you might want to not click on the link.

Who thinks up these things?:scared:
I actually had a friend in college who had once convinced her little brother that a cat poop was a Tootsie Roll, and he took a bite:crazy2:

Hey, another vote for TI! :thumbsup2 It's the location that I like about that place. I really have no clue what the actual rooms are like.

Speaking of hotels, my in-laws are coming from CA for a visit this week-end. My MIL likes to gamble and is always getting free rooms at different hotels on the Strip. This time she has some for Planet Hollywood.

Anyway, she and my FIL always like to visit with the kids when they come out, so what we've done in the past, and we are going to do on Sunday, is they will go to the hotel and check in, but not go to the room.

Then they come here to our place, give us the room key and spend their first night here with the kids, while Ruben and I go to the hotel.
It's a nice way for us to have a break and some alone time (a meal in peace!) while the inlaws get some one on one with the kiddos. Best of all it doesn't cost us anything! Well, other then what we pay for dinner.

The rest of their visit they go back to their room. We've done that three times now, and thanks to them we've stayed for free at Planet Hollywood, the Venetian, and the Palazzo.

Now if we can just find some cheap or even free show tickets for the night, we'll be all set. :rotfl2:

I don't know! Good question!!!

Okay, your friend was evil!!!! :scared1: That made me ill.

Although this IS helping me with my diet. That craving I had a minute ago for something sweet? Yep, it's totally gone now. Thanks!! :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

Speaking of hotel rooms, and since this is supposed to be a pre-trip report, I thought I'd mention we added another night to the trip!!

So instead of leaving Tuesday morning, we'll leave Monday after the kids are done with school. Which will probably put us there just in time to have a quick swim and go to bed, BUT then we'll be there bright and early in the morning.

Hey! Maybe we'll even try for rope drop......
Ok, who am I kidding. But still, it will be nice to get to the parks after being rested all night rather then after a long drive.

I still don't know if we are going to add the tour or not. But either way, Ruben felt it was worth it to add another night.
After all, as he likes to keep reminding me, we won't be going back until 2011. LOL

It won't add that much to the budget either because for breakfast we'll be eating in the room, and we'll do a cheap lunch or maybe even just some snacks that I bring. All it really adds is the cost of the room which we got a good deal on.

I'm not going to tell the kids we are leaving early. We'll just pack the van, pick them up from school and hit the road. :)

Loving your TR. I am a newbie to disneyland, a vet to WDW and the boards. AKA NJ2Boardwalk, but i figured since we are looking into a DL vacation I should make a username more applicable to DL. LOL Can't wait for more. ;)

LUCKY DUCK!!!

I'm still debating if we're going to add a day or not?

Anyway, do you have a Disney Visa Card? If you do I believe you get 20% off of the Disney Tours.

Thanks for reading! And welcome to the Disneyland side of the DIS. :)

I hope you are able to take a Disneyland vacation. I grew up going to DL and it's like a second home to me. I've been to WDW a few times, and I like it there too, but DL will always be special to me.

If you have any questions feel free to ask! Everyone on the Disneyland boards is really nice and helpful.

HOW FUN!!! That will be nice to have a night just the two of you.

I think I'm going to stick with TI .... Just because we've never stayed on that end of the strip before. OHHH, and one more thing I wanted to ask you. Have you done the Titanic Exibit? Wondering if it's worth the money or not?

You should consider just adding it now and then you can always cancel it if things don't work out.

I figured if something happened and as the trip got closer we couldn't swing it after all, as long as I cancel within the required time frame, we'd be ok. But sometimes when you try to add a day later on, it's not always available.

I do have a Disney Visa, thanks. Actually I have a Premium Annual Pass which also gets you a 20% discount, so either way, we're covered. :thumbsup2 Now we just need to see if his parents will watch the kids.

No, I haven't done that but I'd like to! After the kids and I all watched Titanic one night, we talked about going there because they really liked the movie and I thought it would be cool.

Then I saw the prices, times 6 no less, and said forget it! LOL
But, I will say that I've seen that offered many times at the Tickets2Nite stands on the Strip. If you decide to go, check there first and you'll get them much cheaper then if you bought them for full price at the box office.

Congratulations on your extra day! :cool1:

It's so nice to have "lounge about" time lol

Since you're doing a Halloween trip too, thought I would check out your pretr. Sounds like you will have a great time. Even though we haven't been to DL, I'm sure someday we will make it.

I Love all your DL Halloween pictures!!

Love the kids snack lists.

Too funny that Tigger rearranged your kids!:rotfl:

What a cute frame, glad you found it! We’re looking forward to buying some Disney Halloween Decorations on our DW trip.

The pics of your kids when they were little are adorable! You really did have your hands full!

The Disney Halloween Pumpkins look really cool. I just love Jack-o-Lanterns! Think I will pass that link on to my son.

That’s great that you added an extra day!

Thanks for stopping by. :flower3: Not too many solid plans just yet. More of a general excitement. LOL

Hopefully you will make it to DL someday. It's neat to see both places.

I Love all your DL Halloween pictures!!
Thanks. I hope to take many more on this trip. I'm getting better at actually using my camera instead of just carrying it around like an accessory.

Love the kids snack lists.
Oh yeah, my kids know they can only get away with those kind of snacks at DL and they plan to take full advantage of that.

Gotta love Tigger! :tigger:

I hope you find some great ones! Do you buy the pins? I was just telling my DH that I don't know what happened to my MNSSHP pins that I bought the year I went.

Yep, it's all a blur now. :rotfl:

Oh, good idea. I bet he'd enjoy them. Maybe even get some ideas. :thumbsup2

That’s great that you added an extra day!
To be honest, I'm really surprised my DH suggested it. He's not quite the Disney fan I am. ;)

So cute! I don't recall seeing these last October when we were there, but it's entirely possible I just missed them. In any case, if they have them again this year, I guess we'll be buying some popcorn. ;)

I am a huge SUCKER for anything in cute packaging. Have I already mentioned this? :rolleyes1 I think I did, but it's worth saying again because it's so true.

Put just about anything into "cute" themed packaging, I'll buy it.

I'd love to go for Halloween sometime, but October is a tough month for me at work.

Hi there! That's too bad about work. Maybe you can call in sick one day and sneak off. ;) It's really a fun time, and as always with Disney, the decorations are very good.

According to the ticker in my first post, my trip is now exactly TWO months away!! :yay: :woohoo:
Before too long I'll be able to call and make some dining reservations! :thumbsup2
