We're coming down Easter week taking Amtrak down from Maryland, has anyone used a transportation service and how much did they charge for a group of 3 adults, 3 kids and 14 month old to go to the Shades of Green resort?
I have read many post in the past years of those using limo services. Somewhere on these boards is an advertisement for one of these services. I was able to do a price qoute. A towncar for 4 of us was $109 roundtrip. i priced a Limo at $209 roundtrip. This also included a 30 minute stop for grocerys. Imagine stopping at Walmart for grocerys in a Limo. This could be much less than a taxi. when I was in Philladelpia (SP?) in 1999 we paid over $20 per person for one way to the airport.
As far as Amtrak. My son took it several times to Illinois from Dallas. One trip was about 24 hours behind. Regular trains get priority to tracks. If there is any derailments you wait until tracks clear. He had to wait for two derailments on the long trip, one prior to boarding which the train was between Fort Worth Texas and Dallas (30 miles distance), that was a 6 hour wait. Then before they left Texas there was another derailment ahead of them that delayed the train until morning. Food became short so they had to stop to load food onto the train also.
I would have no patients for a train to be late to Orlando. Also transportation arrangements would be difficult to make for when you arrive to Orlando if your train is late.
Hope it works out. It hes been several years since my son rode Amtrak. They may have improved service.
This is going to be my biggest fear is booking a van or some sort of transport to pick us up at the Amtrak and then having our train delayed somewhere along the line. I guess we'll just hope for the best. Many thanks for your input
This is my concern. How do I get to a car rental? I must have to get a town car to pick us up(7). Please help. My dad will be going to orlando air I do not know if he will arrive first. Now he could pick us up...I am nervous because he is 75 and I do not want to strss him out. Help!!!!!!!

We use Amtrak from north east Ohio switching in Washington DC to Kissimmee. We have used a towncar service, they stay in contact with Amtrak to see if their fare is on time or late and how long so they are not waiting. Don't know if all services do that but it would seem feasible that they would. I would call and ask, they know Amtraks record for lateness. The cab line at the Kissimmee depot also keeps tabs on train schedules but the station master will call you a cab if no one is there. We only had to call a cab once from Kissimmee, all other times 3 or 4 cabs were waiting. Cab fare from Kissimmee station to Poly was 35-38 bucks plus tip one way, only about 20-30 minute ride. In over 15 train trips to WDW, we never had any problems getting to WDW from Kissimmee station, for the price, we use cab service.
