Amtrak rail sale has some really good prices

I was just on the Amtrak website to buy a ticket for my ds to use on his way back to college after fall break and noticed there were a couple of really good "rail sale" fares involving trips to Orlando: auto train from Lorton was $37.50 and from LA to Orlando was $60. I think they were through Nov. 21. I thought someone might use this info. to plan an impromptu trip to WDW! There also are other great fares (Chicago-Boston, $30, for example).

I'm paying a whopping $3.20 for my son's 150-mile trip! He took this train back Labor Day weekend (the only time he's been home so far). It originates in Charlotte and stops in a bunch of little towns (for about 3 minutes at each) a long the way. By the time it gets to Raleigh, there are so many N.C. State students on board that the taxi company has a van waiting to take them to campus.

DocRafiki -- It's Los Angeles. These fares are internet only, though, so my $3.20 is not paying the operator. While we were booking the ticket, I kept thinking we would get to the end and have a $20 handling charge . . . didn't happen.

Wow! I wish they would have prices like the one from LA from NY! I wanted to take amtrack for our last trip, but it was so expensive! It was cheaper to fly, but we drove anyway.

I am traveling from Hollywood Fl. To Kissimmee one way for 28.80! I usually pay 38.00 for this!
