Amtrak -never Again!

I agree Ilovegoofy. DH and I lead a fairly busy life. It is so enjoyable to just sit back and do absolutely nothing but relax on the train for that time before we start our vacation. Gives us time to get work out of our minds and readjust to a fun atmosphere. It works the same way for our trip home. After a great vacation, it gives time to relax a little and readjust to our upcoming busy time. It's not all hustle and bustle and travel fast, deal with more crowds and have no adjustment time.

All the time to Kissimmee, but due to delays, and schedule changes, I started to fly Southwest. :thumbsup2 The price is about the same and sometimes cheaper, I get Free Transportation, and I get there in less than 2 hours instead of 5-7hours it used to take me with Amtrak Delays.

Poohbear. SW isn't an option for me. It is great for epople who have that option. To fly have I either have to drive 1.5 hours at SAV then fly to Atlanta, GA changed planes and then fly back to MCO. Or drive 3 hours to Atl and take a 2 hour flight down. Airfare is about 375.00 per person.

Delta use to have a direct flight from SAV but not anymore. DME took us 2 hours from MCO to POP and that was the only resort stop. Not sure I would use it again even though free.

To each his/her own.

We have decided to take the 6:50am train instead of the 4:43 am because it seems to have less delays bacause of it route. Less freight train traffic on the 6:50 route.

i think what it boils down to is people who like the train enjoy a slow pace of life .taking time to enjoy it ,were as most people in todays society are always in a rush. if they would just slow down they would enjoy it .remember that,s what vaction is for to slow down and unwind :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I agree with this. I love taking the train, having been up and down the east coast on Amtrak over 60 times. For me, it's part of my vacation, a part that I so look forward to. I get on the train, settle in, and watch the world go by, with not a care in the world. :cloud9:

For me, riding --relaxed--on a train for a day is so much better than being up in the air for a few hours, teeth clenched, hands gripping the armrest (if I'm lucky enough to get one), in a terrified state.

I think people either love or hate the train. As for me?
