Amtrak from Disneyland

Does anyone know how busy these trains get? We are planning on taking the Amtrak from Anaheim to San Diego on January 1st but we're not sure if we should do the reserved seating business class or the unreserved tickets. We've never taken it during the holiday season so we really aren't sure how busy it gets. Anyone have any experience?

They can get pretty crowded on Holiday weekends, I took the train home from Anaheim on New Years Day about 8 years ago, I seem to remember my DD and her friend having to find other seats as we couldn't all find seats together (although that could have been because they were teens and didn't want to sit with mom or lil' bro).

When my DD was going to school in SD I took the train quite a few times and those holiday weekends when all the students are either going home or returning to school it can get really packed. If you can afford the business class upgrade I think I would do it, although it is only approx 90 min to SD. (I have only done it once but it was nice for the 8 hour ride home).

We also upgraded to the business class (only $10 and you got snacks and a drink..even wine) It was pretty crowded I thought and glad to have the nice reserved seat.
