Getting to the most magical place on earth is ever more expensive and tenuous when depending on airline travel to get to WDW. Is there any thought that passenger rail might be an alternative that Disney could develop to deliver people? Given what the company can do with a cruise ship, imagineers let loose upon passenger rail could result in cool stuff. The logistics to overcome no doubt are monstrous, but a Mickey Express might appeal if fuel costs drive air out of reach for most mortals. The Scrooge movie most recently had a train based promotion, just a wonder if it could be an exploratory excercise for larger things to come?

Completely impossible, DCL is not a transportation company. It's a floating hotel that charges premium prices for the magic. The Imagneers only work on the part of the ship that guests interact with they have nothing to do with the mechanical aspect of running the ship.

Disney rail would have to deal with all the issues that regular passenger rail has to deal with and I doubt they can imagineer their way out. Imagineers create entertainment magic their skill set can't be used to solve all the problems of the world.

Also where would the trains come from? Would you expect a network of trains and connections across the country. If Amtrak has trouble making ends meet with federal, subsidies how would Disney?

Best line about train travel came from the sitcom Big Bang Theory "travel by train means that you pay twice as much and it takes 4 times longer to get there."

While passenger rail is indeed the only civilized way to travel - and clearly a viable solution to congested air and gridlocked road travel - it won't be developed by Disney (this certainly does not preclude cooperation, such as the on-property high-speed rail station). Disney Cruise Line makes money, while there is no passenger railway in the world which exists without an operating subsidy.

There are several proposals for more passenger train service into Florida - don't hold your breath. Within the state there is the Florida high-speed rail project to Tampa. The state seems intent on wasting billions reinventing the wheel rather than using existing infrastructure and technology, but the project is making progress.
