Please excuse me if these questions are a little silly, we don't catch a lot of trains in Australia!!

1. Are there lockers at the Anaheim station where we could store some luggage for 3 nights?

2. If we book the reserved tickets and there is no luggage check in, do we just store our bags near our seats?

3. When we get to San Diego ( and then back to Anaheim 4 days later) are there taxis waiting at the station to take us to our hotel or do we need to ring one?

I am traveling alone with my 3 girls (aged 7, 8 and 11) and i am a little nervous about how we will manage the travel with our luggage (a suitcase each at least!!!)

Thanks so much for your help:hug:

They are not silly questions. :)

I am not sure about the first, but a complete guess would be that there are not lockers at the station since things like that seem to have disappeared in many places post 9/11. HOWEVER, that is a complete guess. Maybe someone else will know.

As for your second question, you could store your bags at your seats OR use baggage check-in (similar to checked baggage on an airline). There are restrictions of course, but they are pretty basic. You can check out amtrak.com and they have all the details. :wizard:

Lastly, taxis will probably be available to you at both stations (depending upon what time you are arriving). If they are not, you certainly could call one.

Hope this helps,
Dreams

I guess it depends on the train, but I usually take long distance AMTRAK trains and store my luggage in the compartment downstairs. No one has ever messed with it. Then I just have a bag with snacks and valuables with me at my seat.
I don't know about the Anaheim station but the Fullerton one was very small..no lockers or anything like that.

To the best of my knowledge lockers are not available. I do not recall seeing any either, when I was there, this past August.

There is good information to be had overall on Amtrak's website.

Amtrak and Amtrak Anaheim Station

When I arrived at the Anaheim Amtrak Station, there was a nice line of taxi's just waiting for me (That was in the late afternoon)Ah, that was nice! :)
I would think that it would be like that for San Diego as well.
I am on the phone at this time, with an Amtrak rep. to ask about lockers.
Stay tuned! :) I am on hold at the moment.

O.K. I just got off of the phone, which by the way, for International callers, the same #800 can be used.

1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245) or TDD/TTY (1-800-523-6590).

Lockers are not available at either the Anaheim Amtrak Station nor the L.A. Station.

Cabs will be waiting at both the Anaheim and San Diego Amtrak stations.
If for whatever reason, one may not find a cab at the Anaheim Station,at the time, here is a phone number for Yellow Cab: (714) 535-2211

Luggage can be stored overhead, or at the back of the train, or downstairs.
Carry on luggage is limited to two per person. This does not include purses, or the like, nor lap tops.

There is a nice on board snack bar too. I made good use of it. :)

I hope this helps you out. If there is anything else that I might be able to assist you with, please do not hesitate to ask. You are more than welcomed to send me a p.m. as well, if you would like to.

I just wanted to add, that your questions are not silly at all. Believe you me, I know a silly question when I read one. You are just fine. :)

I do not know if this will be your first trip to America, if so WELCOME MATE!
If not, then welcome back mate! :) and g'day!

If this is your first trip to Dl. remember to ask for your first time visitor button. There are also buttons for anniversaries as well as birthdays.
And if you should be going on your birthday or one of your children's birthdays, one may receive complimentary admission to one park for one day. If one has a park hopper or annual pass, then one can either receive a fun card (Which has the equivalent of the cost for one day/one park admission) or a special fast pass, or a ticket that is good for a one day one park admission until your next birthday, or until you use it within that time frame.

I hope that you and your family will have a great flight and a most wonderful and magical time visiting Disneyland, San Diego and California in general! :) :flower3:

"What time is the 6:30pm parade?" Would that qualify? :rotfl:

Back to train talk...

That is a good one Disney Dreams! And yes, that would most definitely qualify.

Now you know that isn't a silly question. A parade that starts at 6:30 at the start of main street won't be to the end of the parade route for about 20 minutes, so someone waiting for it to start at exactly 6:30 at the END is going to be really annoyed! :)

Thanks so much Gisele for all your help. You saved me stressing about time differences and making an expensive international phone call...

I have been to your wonderful country before in 1995- I was on a tour with a bunch of teenagers ( I was a very young teacher!!!) We only spent 1 day in Disneyland (although we were there from opening to midnight on a Saturday as I recall) but I have been longing to go back ever since.

Then my daughters were asked to dance at DL and Universal so I jumped at the chance!! We have to leave DH and DS aged 3 behind as we just couldn't afford it at the moment.

Anyway the girls and I are very excited... we cant wait:cloud9:

Thanks again

:) You are most welcome! :flower3:

Amtrak's 800# is toll free for USA. I like to think that it would be for international callers as well. However, I do not know that positively.

Anyway, again, I am very happy and pleased to assist you however I may be able to with information. Do not hesitate to ask.

That just sounds so exciting being able to dance for Disneyland and Universal! I love different styles of dance, myself. My most favorite is ballet, especially classical ballet.

G'day mate! And put a shrimp on the barby (Spelling?) for me. :)

WOW! Very exciting! I hope you all have a great time :)

We just got back the day before yesterday from our DL trip with a 30 hour Amtrak ride each way. There are no lockers at the Anaheim station. You can check your baggage at the Anaheim station depending on where you are going to (they do not provide checked baggage on all trains so you need to double check). There were taxi's at the terminal when we got off the train, however, there were only 3 taxi's and there were about 50+ people getting off the train. I would recommend having a phone number on you for a reliable cab company, not all of them are. We used 1-800-200-2000 to call the cab and they have a 10 minute gurantee they also had mini vans if you needed one. We called for a cab when we saw the situation and it was nice because they pulled in for us when there was still a huge line of people waiting for cabs and we were in and out without having to fight for a cab! Depending on where you are staying, when you are coming in and how much luggage you have, you can also take the ART transportation there is a kiosk right there in the station.

Hope this helps and have a wonderful journey.

When I arrived at the Anaheim Amtrak Station, there were more cabs than people at the time. That was nice, for I could select whichever cab I chose to.
Based upon my knowledge and experience, taking a cab will be so much faster, and far more convenient from waiting for ART.
