I just booked PBH thru the FHR desk at Amex and think I got a pretty good deal. $211.00 p/n with an upgrade (if available) breakfast for 2 adults and kids under 17, lunch for 2 at Trattoria Del porto, guaranteed 4pm checkout and 15%disc off spa services.

It has been my experience that we always get upgraded when booking thru the FHR program.

Hope this helps someone.

Now we will be members of the "3" club:teeth:

What is the FHR desk?? And how do you book this? Any date restrictions? Thanks!

We always book all our vacations thru AmEx Plat travel services...not only do they get you a great rate, upgrades when available and 4:00 check out (and all other kinds of stuff)...but the concierge service is excellent too. They got us in every restaurant last minute for the time we wanted. They also get you the best seats for shows and sporting events as well.
All you pay is the yearly membership fee and all is included
If you have American Express, and pay the services fee (Platinum is $375 per year per card) - well worth it...espically if you travel often. Once you are set up with Amex, they start a profile on you. You have a set person to call that handles EVERYTHING for you...it's like having your own personal travel assistant.

go to www.americanexpress.com for all information

If you click on rewards, you will find a list of all the hotels worldwide and airlines.

Also there are no restrictions and no black out dates. Once you are a member, you are set to go. I have found that AmEx customers get priority with upgrades (over a travel agency). They say upgrades when available...but we have always been upgraded everywhere we go:)

I am sorry I wasn't more clear. It is a service of American Express as gonga stated.

FHR=Fine Hotels and Resorts. My husband travels alot for business and always uses this service. He has always been upgraded. A few months back we stayed at the Ritz Carlton in NYC and were upgraded to a beautiful suite.

It really is a wonderful perk of the AmEx platinum card.

Just to hear the other side of the story. I've stayed at the PBH 4 times through FHR and have never received an upgrade. I'm not about to give up my Amex card but I have found that sometimes the higher rates available through Amex do not justify the perks.

We have always paid the least expensive rate and have gotten an upgrade - not just at Universal Orlando. You get 1 category upgrade--for example you pay for a garden view but get a waterview...that kind of thing. I have never found AmEx rates any higher since they contact the hotel while you are on the phone with them..so they cannot charge you any more than what the hotel allows.

The only thing I found over priced with AmEx is their limo service - it's outrageously overpriced!
