So what did everyone think? Michael Grasso was amazing. A simple, yet elegant trick. Enterprising viewers (with a DVR) could easily see how he did it, but I still thought he was fantastic! Beat Murray by a long shot.

Jackie Evancho? Stunning. Just where does that little girl get that voice from?

I was very proud of Jeremy VanSchoonhoven for getting over his training injury, and continuing his act even when he fell off his bike early in the performance. He finished strong and was clearly thrilled with whathe did. Good job.

And FIGHTING GRAVITY!!! O...M...G...there's your winners folks. Hands down. I am blown away.

The only one's we cared for were Grasso and the bicycle guy. Everyone else was boring, ho hum, or such a complete novelty that there isn't even a show that they could create for them that I would want to watch for an hour.

I still don't understand tha appeal of Defying Gravity. You can see exactly what they're doing, so it's not shocking, or even all that impressive. :confused3

I agree. Yeah it's fun to watch but ya know what trick is so it takes away the wow factor.

I a voting for Grasso tonight. Though Alice and Jeremy gave good performances as well.

The only acts I really enjoyed tonight were Michael Grasso and Fighting Gravity...but overall, it's Prince Poppycock FTW!! :woohoo:

Does anyone else feel the further they get into the competition and the more "help" they get with musical arrangements and choices and costumes the duller it gets?

I liked them all when they came in fresh and on their own terms. Now they get advice on everything and it is too overdone. When they have background singers I have to strugle to hear them. When there is so much glitz and flash on stage it interferes with my figuring out what they are doing. Especially in the dance numbers. I think they need to leave them on their own a bit more. JMHO.

I'm sorry folks but the Grasso act was a joke and I'm extremely upset with the way NBC tried to fool the viewers at home. The cameras zoomed in on the cage in the air while Michael disappeared behind the curtain, the girl came out, then Michael ran around the back and appeared next to Sharon with the rose. Been done a million times!!!!!!!!! And yes, Murray was even worse, he was terrible. I'm tired of his narrations.

Best acts tonight in order of superiority:
1) Jackie Evancho
2) Fighting Gravity
3) Grasso
4) Studio One
5) Haspop/Alice/Jeremy.. I'm not really sure here.

As I said, it was a very simple, yet elegant trick. It's all in the presentation/showmanship and he has that in SPADES. I have no problem with the cutaway. If you were sitting in the audience you probably wouldn't have seen him run backstage anyway (the fireworks popping would have momentarily made it hard to see him dart backstage). The cage, the sheet and the fireworks were all mean to distract your eyes from his "escape". Classic misdirection. We did however go back on the DVR and watch it and saw him turn to run backstage before they cut away.

That is just the most bizarre reasoning. They aren't magicians. It's a performance, not just a gimmick. That's like saying singers and dancers are unimpressive because you know how they do it. It's the same as the Voyage of the Little Mermaid show at DHS (which is always packed when I'm there and is still awesome to me even though it's the same show I've seen a hundred times!). Then again, I'm a bit of a simpleton and easily impressed.

Ah well, can't please everyone!

Grasso also gave himself away when he was breathing so heavily during the post-performance interview with Nick Cannon. Too funny!!! But I do enjoy watching him!!

I'm sorry I don't like that little girl Jackie I think that her name. I don't think many people are into Opera that they would want to go and see her esp in Las Vegas:confused3:confused3

Grasso I don't think he's as good as the magican guy who got the boot last week

I like the bike boy

My favorite act is Fighting Gravity!!! I hope they don't leave tonight.

Jackie and Poppey are the best singers in the competition by far. So if you don't like Jackie, I'm also going to assume you don't like the rest of the mediocre singing group.

LOL, I don't like poppycock. It just your opinion that they are they best. I know many you don;t think they are;)

I was completely underwhelmed by both magicians last night. I did enjoy Fighting Gravity and thought the young dance group was entertaining as well - somehow I hadn't seen them before. I'm sure Jackie's a shoe-in as well as Fighting Gravity. It did seem last night's semi was much stronger than last week's.

It is not my opinion. Poppeycock had the highest vote tally last week and Jackie Evancho has had over 3 million hits on Youtube.. plus she is just the cutest little thing..

Michael Grimm is old and tired and not that talented.. he also has an extremely boring personality. He is not a star.

Alice is mediocre
Taylor is mediocre

Debra and Nathaniel are gawd awful.

Yes the magicians were terrible last night.. what was Murray thinking? Nobody wants to hear you talk dude, just do the magic acts!! When are people going to learn this?

Did Houdini get up before an audience and talk for 5 minutes before his act? NO!!

Michael Grimm is OLD? I've been trying to find age info online but can't. His Facebook page only gives his birthday without year, but if I had to guess I would say he is late 30's early 40's. By NO stretch of the imagination is he "old". Sheesh.

If he were not talented and had a boring personality he wouldn't have made it as far as he has, eh? Apparently (luckily) enough folks disagree with you to have kept him around (and in all likelihood, tonight as well).

Now the singers in the competition? THAT I agree with you on. Mediocre at best aside from little Jackie who is truly amazing for her age. With Idol being what it is I feel that they shouldn't even consider plain old singing anyway.

I love that Howie takes the ability to make the act into a viable Vegas show into consideration during his critiques. Most of the acts have that problem. They're okay but no way would they hold up to a nightly Vegas performance. The two aerial acrobats are good, but couldn't do a solo show. Throw them in Cirque du Solame or something.

This is why I think Fighting Gravity should win.. as much as people think they're act is easy and so simple, it's very cool to watch regardless, and I feel like they could come up with a great act for an hour in Vegas.

I also think Studio One is a fantastic group of dancers and has some potential. Poppeycock as well.

I would have to say my predictions are Anna and Patryck, Alice Tan Ridley (phenomenal voice by far!!!!), Prince Poppycock, and then Fighting Gravity.

I don't mean old in an absolute sense, I mean old for an initial discovery, ESPECIALLY in the singing business. How often do you see a 40 year old out of nowhere, just take the signing business by storm. I can't think of any of the top of my head.. Susan Boyle does not count. It's because the true talent is discovered early.. Michael has been signing for a long time in bars and what not.. if he's so good, someone would have found him. That's just how things work.

Love them all except for Alice.. I thought she was slightly above average last night. But not even close to being a million dollar act.

Anna and Patryk? Really? I think they're cute but no way on Earth are they more interesting to watch than some of the others (like P. Poppycock :cloud9:) nor could they sustain a Vegas show.

Who wouldn't love to see Prince Poppycock headline a crazy over-the-top burlesque show on the strip? Perfection!

Whew! I thought I was considered old now at 34. :rotfl2:...also Michael Grimm isn't a singer. He's a magician. Were you thinking of one of the other guys? Also, Terry Fator WON AGT and was about the same age as Grimm when he was discovered for the show, no?
