So for the USA side of the trip, what’s on your list to see besides the Grand Canyon?

No politics here, just a good, old-fashioned hands-across-the-boarder gripe-fest about something that sucks for all of us.

Did anybody else have a travel horror-story over the holidays? It was so drastic here that all three of Canada's national airlines are in front of a Commons Committee today trying to answer for themselves and their very poor customer service policies. Obviously it was a continent-wide problem and still is; thinking of yesterday's FAA shutdown of all air traffic. Thoughts?

I was lucky. Over a 10 day period, I did Egypt-Europe-US-Canada, Canada-US, US-Europe and though there were slight delays, no major problems. If you ignore the 36hr travel day

Now there is a name I never would have thought of. I haven't heard of him in decades. I also forgot to list Serena Ryder, Tate McCrae, Edward Bear, and Terry Bush...the guy who sang the theme song for Littlest Hobo. There is also Craig Northey who sang "Not A Lot Going On" from Corner Gas.

I spent the weekend in Hanna once visiting some friends. I kept my eye out for Chad but I never did see him. ( Or any of the other guys).

THAT'S the name of the place! I was trying to remember, but too lazy to Google it. I just remember we were leaving Calgary and in the middle of nowhere and then BAM! sign on the road by a small town.

This potential road trip is going to be epic. I fear we are too wild for @ronandannette

Well, somebody has to be the voice of reason. I could have used the term "buzzkill" but I'm afraid it might be taken wrong.

This is an exclusive road trip reserved only for those who have painstakingly participated at some point in these 199 pages of diaglogue. (Can you believe we are almost up to 200 pages of this??? Well, 150 if we remove all of the soccer stuff, but still. ) There seems to be a core group (I'm afraid to list them all because I am terrible remembering stuff, but you all know who you are) and then some who drop in from time to time. Anyone who has posted on this thread up until the time that the road trip was mentioned will be offered a ticket to attend. I don't think that puts us at 50, but maybe it does. It's going to take us months to check off all of the bucket list items. I really hope everyone has a lot of vacation time and cash saved up.

I thought that's what I did when I included "The War of 1812" by Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie? Are these Canadian artist songs? Because I can only accept Canadian artists for my portion of the trip. Go ahead and make a small list of your absolute favourites and if I find them worthy, you may hear a handful of them played along the journey.

I live in the area and I have never been to Fenway (not into baseball at all), though the golden retriever down the street was named Fenway, which suited him perfectly. He was a good boy.

Honestly, I'm just on this trip for the food. Beaver tails, poutine, Saskatoon berry pie, salamon, maple syrup, pierogies, Nanaimo bars. I can't wait to see what Buzz has lined up for us food-wise in the US. It better be more than hotdogs and pizza!!!

Only did a car trip over the holidays so no problems. I did have a 22 hour travel day a few years ago and I did that without leaving the country and their were no flight delays.

Just as a side note, hot dogs, pizza, and burgers are American staples but variety wise they can be different in every region of the country. The secret to great food in the USA are the local restaurants and food trucks. You’ll find healthier and fresh food items you never thought you would try and expand your palate.

There is barbecue, clam chowders, chicken and waffles, Tex Mex, lobster rolls, NY deli sandwiches, just to name a few. The bathroom on the bus will have a line down the aisle if we all go to New York for their hotdog and pizza, and then drive to Chicago for their hot dogs and pizza, and then drive to another city for THEIR HOT DOGS AND PIZZA!!! Time to get some more inspiring food options here!

Again, I live pretty close to Salem and have never bothered to make the trek, but I think that a ghost tour would be an original stop along the way on our road trip. Yeah, we should do the "greats," like the Grand Canyon and DC, but lots of times it is the more obscure or less hyped places that are the most fun. I say you should go ahead and plan ONE. Whichever one you feel is the best.

In regards to my food comment, that’s why I recommend going to local restaurants and food trucks. The variety of all types of local cuisine is amazing.

This part of DC is very walkable with easy access via the Metro, no need for a car in that area.

For some good ideas on local cuisine, mostly in the US, check out the YouTube channel of Adventures of A&K. While much of their time is spent hiking/exploring, this young couple finds all sorts of local eateries while on their travels.

Girl, I just did a five day DC trip and it was NOT ENOUGH DAYS to do all of the best things. We will need longer than two days there.

The current Mega Millions jackpot in the US is $1.35B. No worries. I will pick up a ticket when I run out for groceries later.

This part of DC is very walkable with easy access via the Metro, no need for a car in that area.

While this is true, using a taxi or one of the bikes or Segway's available everywhere, might make it easier for those who can't walk for long distances. We stayed in a hotel that was one block straight up the street from the White House and walked to all of the museums we went to (Holocaust, American History, Art, Natural History, etc.) and it was a half hour walk at the outset, before arriving at the museums, then all of the walking in the museum itself, then another half our walk back. It was exhausting, but a good experience to go and see things. The Washington Monument, the reflecting pool, Lincoln Memorial, war memorials, etc. also LOTS OF STEPS!

There’s also many theme parks to see as well. I think we should plan multiple road trips for the next decade to be honest. Like for the USA, an East coast road trip one year but including Montreal, Toronto, PEI as well. Then a year or two later, parts of central Canada and some border USA states. Then two years after that, some Midwestern and Southern states. And a couple years after that, the West coast of Canada and the USA. That way Disboards can pick with trip they want to plan for in an organized fashion. Thoughts @Frozen Canuck ?
