Yes. They are actually pretty common here in the central part of the province. The last very devestating one was in 2000 and it hit a busy campground on a hot summer day. There were 12 fatalities (8 of which were children sucked up before their parents eyes) and hundreds of injuries.

There was a tornado just outside Toronto last weekend. And I donāt think it was confirmed a tornado in Ottawa but the same storm wrecked havoc in the space of minutes there.
Because it is virtually impossible to build somewhere where there is no risk of some type of natural disaster. Hurricane, tornado, earthquakes, floods, fire, etc.I always wonder why people build where tornadoes are common.
