Americans and Canadians culture Q&A Thread.

It might be expensive to live here but you really cannot beat the weather here in Victoria! 😊

I probably should not post this but I took this pic on February 20th.View attachment 651538
:goodvibes Several years ago I visited Butchart Gardens on May 7and was surprised and disappointed to find I'd missed bulb season entirely. There was still snow on the ground in Calgary when I'd left home a few days earlier.

I'm still angry at Butchart Gardens. We went to Victoria when I was a kid and my dad talked about going to Butchart Gardens.

I thought that he was saying Busch Gardens and was very sad when we got there.

We took a cruise that stopped there on October 14th (2019), one of the last cruise ships of the season. We were worried there might not be much to see but it was still beautiful. No snow, but VERY cold. My wife had never been. My last visit to Butchart Gardens was 53 YEARS earlier, but the pictures from then look very similar to 2019.

Yeah, Spring starts pretty early here, typically people start mowing their lawns in February and I think the first flowers start poking up in late Jan, early Feb. Heck our annual flower count is starting in 2 weeks! (Or as I refer to it, the Annual Brag about our Weather. :D

If you are ever in Victoria around Christmas, definitely check out Butchart Gardens! They have a lovely 12 days of Christmas light display all around the garden that is wonderful to see!

Americans/Canadians, how well do you know your state’s/province’s flag and the symbolism behind it?🤔🇺🇸🇨🇦

The Alberta flag is our provincial Shield (wheatfields against a mountain backdrop under St. George's Cross) on a field of solid blue to represent the endless prairie sky. Our motto is Strong and Free (Fortis et Liber).

Hey Canada, how’s your weather today? It’s pleasant weather today here in the USA. :-)

Just came back from my morning walk . It is freezing out there and really windy. Good day to stay in now for the rest of the day.

Google told me it was -5 C but feels like -12 …..brr with a few snow flakes thrown in .

Yeah last week we were in the double digits, spring is playing with us .

We were heading in the right direction a week ago. I guess we took a detour. Lol.

:teeth: Don't take it so hard; the weather is always like that here. Typical Rocky Mountain foothills "sprinter". Balmy +9C here in Calgary today going to a high of +12. It got up to +18C last Monday and then snowed that night. :beach::cold:

We were in Toronto for a short visit last week and left on Saturday just as it was starting to rain.

Canadians, what would be the American city counter part to your well know places? Would NYC=Toronto, Washington DC=Ottawa, Boston=Montreal, Vancouver=LA? 🇺🇸🤝🇨🇦🤔

Calgary has been compared to Dallas, TX. In my opinion, not living there but having visited both places numerous times, Vancouver vibes way more like San Francisco than it does LA.
