Americans and Canadians culture Q&A Thread.

Chance of precipitation would be higher in Vancouver but the temperatures are pretty similar. Vancouver may even be warmer late January through March.

Still too cold for a year round destination. Where Disney has built parks, Southern California may have been the ideal location. Other places are too hot/sticky (like Florida) in the summer or too cold in the winter. Finding a temperate climate is quite hard. The San Francisco Bay Area or San Diego would be ideal but of course that's too close to Disneyland.

Of course we realize it's not going to happen.

Doesn’t matter where we’d want it built. Most Americans, and some Canadians, only see Vancouver, Banff, Toronto, and Montreal.

It would make the most sense to build it in the middle of Canada, but that would never happen.
Banff would be perfect if it wasn't for those pesky regulations about development in National Parks. I guess we'll just have to build it in Calgary. ;)

Seriously though, given our climate, there's just nowhere in the entire country an attraction could operate a full 12-months of the year. Even Vancouver Island is fairly miserable from December through February.

Again, the temps are pretty much the same as Paris, which is a year-round park. Still would never happen though.

USA and Canada both looking to make history tonight and I’m hyped for the games. Good luck to both countries. Non-soccer fans can follow my WCQ thread for updates. That’s my USA/Canada sports plug on this thread for the day. Prairie_girl are you any bit hyped for the game since it’s a national team game? 🤔🇺🇸🤝🇨🇦⚽:jumping1:
You'll be happy to know this was mentioned on the supper-hour news here tonight. In the context of "it's crazy to be doing this in Edmonton at this time of year". By dumb luck there's no snow at the moment but the temperature there is -2 right now. The news clip showed the players working out this afternoon in wooly toques and gloves. Gotta hand it to Costa Rica; there's no way they're accustomed to these conditions. :cold:

Good luck to Canada tonight. Will you be watching? Check out the WCQ thread for updates if your interested. If Canada can win both games, the USA and Canada should solidify their World Cup spots by January.

Doesn't it snow there pretty much every year? I mean - Disney was researching building an indoor park in St Louis, but just getting people there in the winter was going to take a lot of persuasion.

The average yearly snowfall for the last ten years has been about 10 inches.

⚽ 🇺🇸 🤝🇨🇦👏😁 Just wanted to say congratulations to both teams victories last night. Do you think Canada gained anymore fans last night or are most Canadians like who cares? 🤔

I can’t speak for all Canadians, but on my own behalf... :o

Honestly, I’m happy to hear we won. I like it when we win. But wild horses couldn’t drag me to watch soccer. Seriously, 1-0 after 90 minutes?!? Total snooze fest.

Understandable. If you check out the WCQ thread, you can see highlights and analysis on the matches. To me both games were exciting but that’s just my opinion. :-)

Far from a snooze fest. People need to realize that this isn't hockey and it is harder to score than you think.

Hoping for a CANMNT win against El Tri. That should realistically ensure the USA and Canada both qualified for Qatar 2022. Then our match against you in January can be a warm up for the World Cup.

I did once see a poll several years ago that said fans hockey were most likely to also become fans of soccer. So I do wonder when the World Cup comes to North America in 2026, how many in the USA and Canada will become permanent fans of the sport after seeing a game in person or if that is just a dream scenario? 🤔 Anyway, every game Canada wins helps the USA in WCQ.:-)

That's the whole problem - it's too hard to score. Let's make the field half the size, or double the number of players...just spit-balling. :confused3
I’m curious and I’m not saying this to be critical, have you been to a pro game live before?
