I haven't had moose before but I've had deer jerky...it was not really to my liking. I guess I'm more used to beef jerky. We've also tried turkey bacon...nope not for us but sister-in-law has taken to not eating pork since she started dating her current boyfriend who is Muslim.

I am not accusing anyone of being fake Canadians. Just repeating the observations of my Canadian cousins when I send them links from the DIS. The real controversy was over whether traditional wedding cakes in Canada are fruit cakes. This was years ago. That was referenced by someone else up this thread, but my cousin sent me links at the time to some of the major wedding cake bakeries in Ottawa whose offerings include "Traditional Canadian Wedding Fruitcake". Doesn't mean every wedding has fruit cake, but it is much Canadian as poutine.

Well one is French food and the other is English food. There is a contrast there. My FIL was born in London, but even they didn't have beans on toast. Back when I was married and we lived in Northern Vermont it was 60 miles from Montreal. Many a Saturday late morning we would decide to go up to Saint Catherine Street in Montreal just to get a smoked meat sandwich at Dunn's. I forget were we parked but it was in some parking garage just to the east, I believe, of Ste. Catherine. I haven't been back there in almost 20 years now. It's a long drive from Raleigh, NC.My step mother is French Canadian and is from Montreal. There's some BLEEP good food in Montreal. We did one day of just poutine from different places. Not those beans on toast though. Yuck. no.

Ruth's Chris, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Applebee's, Perkins, Denny's, IHOP, Five Guys, Fatburger, Carl's Jr., Taco Bell, KFC, Popeye's, Arby's as well as the garden-variety McDonald's, Wendy's, A&W, Dairy Queen, Burger King, Pizza Hut and Domino's Pizza. There may be more (like the cinnamon bun and pretzel places) in the mall food courts but I never go there so I'm not sure.
