Americans and Canadians culture Q&A Thread.

Do Canadians take offense to Weird Al’s Canadian Idiot song or just laugh it off? Green Day’s American Idiot song mostly gets laughs from Americans.
I suspect any nation that can provide the world with Jim Carrey, Mike Myers, Norm Macdonald, Phil Hartman, John Candy, Dave Foley, Leslie Nielsen, and Will Arnett just to name a few not to mention The Kids in the Hall has a pretty good sense of humor and can enjoy such things.

What about Perkins and Red Lobster?
We're down to only a few Perkins left. Two Perkins within about a 15min drive were owned by the same person and they both went under several years back. Now the closest one is 20mins but kinda a hassle to get to and the next closest 30mins. When I was in college though the Perkins in the college town (which is the one 30mins from me) was a great place to study.

We used to go with the in-laws all the time for pie and coffee after 8pm (or was it 9pm can't remember when the special started). I love their no sugar added wildberry pie.

I saw Weird Al live at Bluesfest in Ottawa a number of years ago and trust me, the crowd went NUTS when he played Canadian Idiot! Nuts in a good way, everyone was singing along!

Just because it’s a quiet family restaurant, doesn’t make it bad. The food is good and reasonably priced.
That's cool, I just don't care for them. I would rather save a couple bucks and go fast food or spend more and go quality food, to me restaurants like Denny's and Perkin's hit that sweet spot and achieve neither but nothing wrong with that. Different strokes for different folks. :confused3

I do like Buffalo Wild Wings better personally and Red Robin’s as well.

If you have never lived somewhere you don't know the culture like the residents do. Visiting the USA doesn't make me an expert on the the USA. That was my point.

That's not what you stated.

I’m actually surprised Canadians seem to have less questions for Americans in this thread than the Americans do for Canadians. Interesting. 🤔🙂🇺🇸🤝🇨🇦
