Americans and Canadians culture Q&A Thread.

Spanish is not offered here, either. And really, why would it be? I took French up until Grade 12, because my parents thought I should. I definitely couldn’t hold a conversation in French but could probably pick up enough words to get the jist of it.
Well Spanish and English are the most spoken languages in the Americas 🌎 , so I would think Canadians would normally have the option available to them.

I am in BC and our high school offers Spanish and Punjabi and as of last year Japanese. I believe this is only Grade 10-12.

I grew up in Quebec and I didn’t have any other languages in high school in the 80s besides obviously French but my dad was a high school French teacher in an English high school and also taught Spanish in the 70s but it was phased out by the 80s.

I think some if you are misunderstanding me. I'm not saying Canada has a huge population that speaks the language, just that I find it interesting that it's not regularly offered.

We got it, but it’s still the same question. We don’t have a large portion of our population from South America and Mexico, as the US does.

They may change as Canada takes in more refugees from our southern border. 🤷‍♂️

Given these stats, probably not.

Is that a recent statistic? Immigrants are classified statisticaly differently compared to refugees in the USA
