A question to French Canadians. Do most places in Montreal/Quebec speak English or is French a requirement to fully enjoy the area for a vacation?

It's much easier to get by in English while visiting Montreal rather than Quebec City but you don't need to speak French to visit either. Personally, I would highly recommend a visit to Old Quebec. Spending time inside the old city walls is very cool.

Probably one of the best thing to happen to the colony as that action solidified the populations desire to form the country of Canada.

The war of 1812 solidified the U.S. as a nation as well (Britain didn’t respect our sovereignty yet). Glad it all worked out.

Thanks for the advice. I’m thinking of going maybe in 2024 (when the pandemic is done hopefully). Where in the USA do you want to visit where you haven’t before?

There are many places but right now I just want to get back to WDW. Vermont and Hew Hampshire through the mountains would be nice as well.

hmm. Good question, maybe Texas. I have done a lot of travelling in the US, but not there.

My top 2 are New York City as I am a huge musical theatre fan and Sedona Arizona as it looks so beautiful there.

It's a hole in the ground. Really. But it was certainly spectacular once I went in. It's kind of boring staying at the rim of the canyon.

As far as place in Canada I want to visit (but haven't done so yet), it would be Banff and Lake Louise.

Banff is pretty nice but Jasper is much better IMHO. Both are definitely worth the visit!

I’m biased but I think that the fall foliage in the Adirondacks is equal to or even better than in VT, NH, and ME. And I love those states too! This pic is from a week ago in the central Adirondacks.

In the 1770’s the Winter weather and smallpox were the main reason we didn’t hang onto Montreal and Quebec. Had those factors not happened, there’s a good chance we would have held onto to them. Many Canadian French wanted to help gain independence from the British and looked into joining the union from a societal perspective. The war of 1812 attack was just stupid since most up there were loyalists and we were outmatched.

Been to Florida in July, Hawaii, Mexico, Europe in the Summer, Bali and survived. Not to mention the record breaking heat wave we had this summer in Vancouver.
