Americans and Canadians culture Q&A Thread.

Ok, so, @ronandannette and @Frozen Canuck i think we need to do a road trip! We’ll start in Alberta, continue to Saskatchewan (sorry, frozen, but as a Manitoban I’m obligated to not like Saskatchewan lol), continue to Manitoba, and end up in Niagara Falls. It sounds a little pricy so let’s say 2025!
If you guys ever visit stateside, I hope you have an awesome time. Either way, I hope your future trip is one to remember. :-)

Don't you want to start on the Left Coast? Lots to see and do there, too.

If you guys are serious about a possible road trip, both our countries will be doing vacation special packages during the 2026 WC. So you might be able to get discounts then.

Would the discount include having to watch soccer? 'Cause that's a deal-breaker for me. ;) Let's change our itinerary and go to the 2023 World Curling Championships in Ottawa instead!

No soccer required at all. I meant this as a real thing. Both of our countries are doing a major tourism initiative that year across the states/provinces. Just suggesting a way you all can have an affordable get together. :-)

Screw veggies - the real outrage is that they didn't showcase tree-ripened Okanagan cherries, peaches and pears. :lovestruc They are truly sublime and make similar fruit from anywhere else taste like dogfood. You also got hosed (there's a solid bit of Canadian slang, eh) on the wine - it should have been from BC's wine regions, not Niagara.
The cherries from Okanagan are spectacular! Found these canadian cherries at the Publix closest to WDW! 🍒

Did you happen to notice the price and if they were actually from BC? It's a long way from there to Florida. They also do grow some fruit in the Niagara region of Ontario and in Nova Scotia but I don't think either area is renowned for cherries.

It wasn't a great year for BC cherries; they were late ripening and the harvest was smaller than usual (so they tell me). They didn't arrive here in Calgary until the third week of July and at that, they were $8.99/lb. Over the season I got them as low as $4.99/lb one week on sale but mostly they were very, very expensive this year. So far, the peach season seems to be similar. :( Is there anybody here from the Okanagan that can tell us exactly what the problems were this spring?

I was going to razz you for this, but since you said no soccer required, I’ll allow it LOL

We could totally do a cross Canada trip! We can wave at @Buzz Rules at the Falls.

Canadians, if I were to vacation in your province, what would you recommend as can't-miss sites or experiences? (Pretend that any distance between them is no obstacle.)

There are lots of places in NB but my choice would the to camp at Fundy National Park. Plenty of hiking in the park, visit the Hopewell Rocks about 30 miles away, rappel at Cape Enrage and spend some time checking out the views along the Fundy Parkway.

Wait...Buzz wants us to put off this trip until 2026??? And why does he stay on the American side of the falls? This is his golden opportunity to experience the country through our eyes.

My next question...we have BC to Manitoba fairly well covered, but who is going to step in and guide us the rest of the way?

Oh yeah, and one other thing...SHOTGUN!!! :drive:
