American Idol... Who will be voted off next?

I thought that Josh was horrid last night. If anyone goes based on last night's performance alone it will be him.

I also agree that Kim C. is not stretching the limits of her voice like the other contestants. It's time for her to show what she's capable of or move on.

Carmen was actually a pleasant surprise IMO. She should probably slide this week based on last night's performance.

Kimberly Locke was not "brilliant" IMO. While I enjoyed the song once she got started, her problems with the lower register were a big distraction. I agree with the assessment of her wardrobe.

Ricky was okay, not great. He did have fun with the song, so I give him that.

Ruben was dead on as usual.

Clay needs to learn to sing to the entire audience, and not just the back row, if you know what I mean. Move a little, engage the front row for crying out loud. He clearly has the best voice, but really needs to work on that broadway style. It just doesn't fly for pop music.

Trenyce didn't do it for me, but she wasn't bad.

Bottom three.........hmmmm. It's hard to say. Josh's performance was by far the worst last night, but I think he'll stick around because he has such a big fan following based on past performances. I think Ricky is a genuinely nice guy, but he doesn't seem to have much of a fan base. I've never liked Carmen's voice, but I must admit she seems to be getting better. I guess my bottom 3 would be Ricky, Carmen and Kim C. It's getting harder to decide with every passing week!

The bottem three should be Rickey,Kimberly and Josh..Josh was brutal last night. But Kimbery C will go..

I really did not enjoy last nights show. :( I had a feeling when this whole disco thing was put out there that it could be BAD.

Rickey - He had fun with it but not his best performance. I don't think he has the fan base of others and will probably be in the bottom 3.

Josh - :( I really like him but last night was not very good. They said he had a cold but I didn't hear a 'cold' in his voice. I think he just picked a bad song and it did not work well for him. I will be suprised if he is in the bottom 3. I think he gets a 'patriotic' vote since he is a Marine. I think he will get enough votes to stick around.

Kimberly L. - The first part of her song was not good but as she kept going it got better. I really like her voice but she has not been overly consistent. She will stay for another week but she is going to have to improve if she wants to stay around much longer.

Kimberly C. - I have always enjoyed her performances but while watching last night I finally started to agree with those of you who say she always sounds the same. I am getting bored with her monotone voice plus her attitude has always driven me batty. Definitely bottom 3 and most likely the one to go home tonight.

Ruben - This is the second week in a row that I have really liked his voice but the wardrobe really needs to change. Everyone else dresses the part except for him. I  everytime I see him in another one of those 205 shirts.

Trenyce - I was not overly impressed by her performance but it was better than some of the others. I think she will probably be in the bottom 3 this week but will get to stay.

Carmen - She is not the best but she is improving every week IMHO. I actually didn't think she did that bad last night. She may be in the bottom 3 instead of Trenyce.

Clay - I love Clay's voice but he needs to work on performance. As much as it pains me to say this I think he needs to work on singing up tempo songs. I am afraid all he can do is ballads. :( I still would like to see him win it all.

Bottom 3: Kim C., Rickey and Trenyce
Goin' Home: Kim C.

What is up with Simon--usually I agree with him (how sad is that?) except where Clay and Ruben are concerned. His comment about Carmen being the "most commercial" of the "girls" just cracks me up--I realize he is the one that must promote the new AI, but c'mon--give the public some credit. I wouldn't buy a Carmen cd and my nearly 13 y/o daughter doesn't find her at all interesting. Now, the 15 y/o boy thinks she's "hot" but he wouldn't buy her cd either. Don't we really have enough blond, young, "hot" looking things to choose from? Her voice really isn't that great--although to her credit, I thought she did better last night.

Then the comment about Clay being nothing special. I agree that last week he was good, but I didn't get the goose bumps from his song. This week, I really "felt" his song. Ruben is good, but "brilliant"--I don't think Barry White was famous for his terrific singing voice--he was more of a sexy, silky speaker with music in the background. Don't get me wrong, I liked Ruben's performance--I just didn't find it "brilliant". I am beginning to believe that Simon is trying to sway public opinion toward the more "commercial" of the bunch. Clay's voice isn't what I would call commercial it's as everyone has said--more geared toward performance Broadway style.

Josh was awful last night--agreed. I still like his voice though and hopefully the voting public won't overlook his prior performances but who can forget poor Tamyra last year! What was the country thinking!

Kim Locke was shaky at the beginning, but seemed to hit stride midway through and I liked it. Trenyce is the same week after week as is Kim C--does Kim C have another note in her repertoire? ;) Ricky was okay, I thought it was fun.

Does anyone else seem to feel that all of the contestants sing the same week after week? It doesn't seem to me that any of them are taking many chance when it comes to their singing. The genre may change, but the songs sound the same--for all of the performers not just one or two. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing, but there's not one of them that blows you away--they are all just very consistent.

Tough choice this week for the bottom 3--my picks: Josh (say it ain't so), Kim C., and Ricky--with Ricky getting the boot. It wouldn't be my choice (I already said I don't like Kim C. and she'd be my choice to go)--but I'm trying to 2nd guess the world I guess. ;)

What a terrible, terrible night. Disco is bound to sound like kareoke (sp?), due to the nature of it.

Unfortunately, I agreed with Simon almost all night. I just didn't think it was a very good show.

I think the bottom three will be Rickey, Carmen and Josh:(. I think Rickey will be the one to go.

Ruben was the best, but he's starting to sound the same every week to me. I hope Simon's comment about him being the one who should win doesn't hurt the competition.

I think Simon is making up for saying that Clay was the "one to beat in this competition" by beating up on him every week now. I thought he did a GREAT job!

I thought that Kimberley L. did a great job too. That was a tough song and she has a strong voice.

I agree that Trenyce is trying too hard, but think she'll be the last female standing.

Kimberly C. didn't seem quite as confident last night (after being in the bottom 2 last week), but I didn't think she did as badly as Paula seemed to think.

I thought Carmen did a GREAT job and was shocked when they talked her down. I do not like her voice and have not been impressed with her, but she seems to be getting better instead of worse. (I didn't think she'd be able to pull off disco.)

I felt so sorry for Josh that I voted for him about 6 times (and this is the FIRST TIME I've actually called in and voted for anyone in the past two seasons)! The song was a bad choice. He has a country-style voice to start with and disco was going to be tough for him.

I think this is Rickey's week to go. I really like him, but just think he's the weakest link at this point.

I think the bottom 3 will be Rickey, Josh, and Kim C. Based only on last night's performances, I think Josh should go, but I hope that he gets another chance, and Rickey goes instead. I thought it was pretty interesting that Paula asked Josh if he had a cold -- talk about a "gimme." If Josh isn't eliminated, he'll OWE Paula big time for giving him an excuse for that terrible performance!! (I don't buy for a minute that he had a cold -- I just think it was a bad genre and a bad song for him.)

Wonder what the theme will be next week....any guesses?

My pick for the bottom three are Rickey, Josh and Treynece. I don't like Rickey and Josh's voices, and Trenyce seems to be the same week after week.

I think this season is pretty much a disaster. Besides all the scandals, I don’t think any of these kids deserve to be the American Idol. I mean, they’re all “good” but that sure isn’t enough IMO. I find it hard to believe that out of the thousands of people who tried out, these are the best. I like Ruben and Clay, but they always sound the same and it’s getting a little boring. And they’re not very good performers.

As far as talent on this year's Idol, did any of you see the night that Kelley Clarkson came back to sing as the "original" AI??

My DD and I thought she was TERRIBLE ! when compared with this year's group. I don't think she'd even have made it to the top 12 this year. The song stunk, the arrangement stunk, and she looked really uncomfortable and nervous during each of her segments with Ryan. Not at all what I would've expected after a year of living as an Idol.

Say what you will--this years' talent pool is way deeper than last years.
Tamyra Gray seems to be the biggest winner from last year. Her stint on Boston Public was excellent, showcased not only her singing ability, but acting as well. I look to see her stock rise with that first foray into prime time.

My DH and I actually felt that Carmen was the only one who made you feel like dancing, which was the whole purpose of Disco. (Maybe it's because we were old enough to be clubbing then). I thought Kimberly L. destroyed one of my favorite songs, Clay was good, not great and Ruben, although good, was definitely no Barry White. Ricky and Josh were simply terrible and Trenyce and Kimberly C were average. It was an extremely disappointing episode, no one really stepped up to the plate and hit a home run. These songs were supposed to be high energy songs and they weren't performed that way.

IMHO, I think bottom 3 will be Ricky, Kimberly C & Kimberly L and Ricky will be the one to go. (Too many people like Josh to let him go this early although his was the worst performance.

nobody's commented on poor Clay responding to Paula about not knowing how to dance! Poor kid, can't *someone* show him a few moves? I truly wonder if this is why he doesn't sing more uptempo songs, because he doesn't know how to move?

My bottom three:Ricky, Kim C, and Josh, with Ricky going.

Please, let's have a better theme next week!

I agree with a couple of posters that Carmen seems to be improving each week. Now, I don't care for her voice but her confidence and ability seem to be getting better.

And I, too, was disappointed in last nights show. But unlike most of you, I enjoyed Rickey's performance. It was nice to see him change and sing in the upper register. Most of the others just seem to be singing basically the same style of song over and over. It was nice to see Rueben smile though while he sang for a change.

I whole heartedly agreed with Simon this week. I can see why he is disgusted. As a previous poster said that no one seems to have the guts to take a chance and try a different song. The American Idol is the one who can sing all types of music not just a few. I believe that is why Kelly won last year. Maybe she doesn't have the talent that this group has. But each week she got better and better and pushed her limits. And her looks are marketable.

Glad someone else wonders how this gal has made it. She has never overly impressed me either.

I am also in the minority, but I like Carman and think she tries very hard to go with the genre for the evening. Poor Josh, I saw that train wreck coming, when they said disco, country is his forte. I also do not get this adulation for Clay, he sounds the same in every song every week and his stage presence to me is nil. More of a big stage production type voice than pop singer.

Simon usually is right on in his assessments. Randy and Simon even agreed on one of them last night. Paula is just a flake and she gets on my nerves. I sometimes wonder how she gets to judge others talent, she had her 15 minutes of fame, and a lot of her singing was covered with slick background music, dancing and others making her look good. JMHO of course;)

I don't remember anything that Clay said to Paula about not knowing how to dance?

I know Paula said something about him not dancing or moving, but I didn't hear him respond in any way...

Yeah. He mumbled something like, "I still need to work on that."

Poor Josh! What a horrible night for him! I can't stand disco - isn't it just music to work-out to? And as much as I like Clay, he really sounded like a Broadway performer - just not "hip" enough to be AI. I think Ruben will be the last standing - but somebody help him with his wardrobe. Nobody outside of Alabama appreciates his "205" shirts!

Wow, great posts!

I think, as usual, Simon was the only "right" one last night (besides that remark about Clay being "terrible" and Carmen being the best female singer...) and Verdine was like the other celebrity judges, just trying to be nice.

I think the bottom 3 will be Josh, Kimberly C and Rickey. I like Rickey, but he's just so-so. I had to take your remarks about Kim C and Josh because I turned to HGTV when they were on. I'm shocked that Josh got bad reviews. What song did he sing? I agree with Simon, there would have been NO WAY he would've gone this far on that voice. I'm still disappointed in how he "changed".

Kim C is to me what everyone else was to Julia, I cannot stand her. Goodbye already!

It's between Reuben and Clay. Clay was not "terrible" last night and he sang one of my favorite songs and did it well, but it was like a repeat performance. Reuben did Barry White better than Barry White! But I do agree that he needs to shock us and show up in a suit!

Tonight's show should be a shocker. We'll see!

Robin, Josh sang "Celebrate". They asked if he had a cold or something but to me it appeared he was just wrong for that song. It was pretty awful unfortunately.
