Good morning all! Since the demise of my laptop a few days ago, I was unable to post my show thoughts while watching last night...I know, I know...HOW could I disappoint you all by not tossing out my allimportant two cents? Will you ever forgive me?

I guess I can try and forgive you  I waited up till past 1 am (as you can tell from my previous post at 1:46 AM) because I always like reading your summary, but I finally gave up and went to bed. :thumbsup2

As usual, if it weren't for Adam (and to some extent Allison), I wouldn't be watching this show because this crop of finalists is about as exciting as watching Wonder Bread go moldy.

Danny is, IMO, Wonder Bread Boy. Bland, boring and oh so white bread. He's never done a thing for me and that hasn't changed. And by all that's holy, can he stop doing the praise band dancing? Stop. Just. Stop.

Kris: I can see why he's technically good, but he leaves me utterly cold. For me, he has no spark, no charisma, no emotion. He's technically 'on', but emotionally, there is no connection. It's like he's being forced to get up there and sing and he does a good job, but he'd rather be doing something else.

Anoop: I think Anoop needs some seasoning, along the lines of Adam's experience out there as a working singer connecting with the audience and finding his best path. He has a wonderful voice, truly, but he needs more experience and this show isn't guiding him along that way.

Matt: Just don't get the appeal and I never have.

Lil: Please. Go home. You are nothing more than a karaoke singer, a GOOD karaoke singer, but that's it.

Just have to say that you summed up perfectly what I was thinking! Great critiques. ;)

Where can you read his brother's blog?

Alison was just OK. She is still mumbling her way through a lot of the lyrics.

Neil Lambert's blog: http://negativeneil.com/ In one post - before Adam got onto AI - Adam and Neil get into a fight and Adam used some not so nice language, LOL.

Totally agree about Alison's mumbling. I kept thinking she was singing about wanting hot sauce - which may actually be more appropriate for a 16-year-old.

We hear the judges say all of the time to make the song their own and let us know what kind of an artist they will be. To me, Adam is not doing that. He's changing the song but that's about it. Does anyone think that Adam would ever perform a song like last night or even dress like that when he's in concert?

Compare him to Daughtry or DC. To me, they stayed true to who they are. They didn't change their look or act to fit the song/theme but they adapted the song to be their style instead.

Don't get me wrong, I think that Adam is very talented but his performances haven't told me what type of artist he is.

Adam is 100% true to what he is & that becomes very clear when you hear his weekly confessionals. One week, when they talked about the auditions, he said that his Mother was worried he wouldn't be accepted if he came out wearing nail polish and eyeshadow and begged him to tone it down. He thought about it, and told her that he couldn't do that because he has to be true to who he is on stage. If people didn't like it, that was fine - but he couldn't pretend to be something he wasn't.

Confessional where Adam addresses the critique that he is "too theatrical": http://vodpod.com/watch/1548630-adam-lambert-top-7-redux-confessional

Confessional where Adam talks about what kind of artist he is, his career from now on and what an "Adam lambert" album will be like: http://vodpod.com/watch/1533069-adam-lambert-top-7-confessional

He says jokingly that his album would be kind of "schizophrenic" or "chameleon-like". He goes on to say that he likes many different styles of music which is why he changes it up week to week from the show and he would like to do an album like that. He would have tracks with an electro-feel, then a pop sound, then rock etc. Anyway, it's all in the interview.

For those people who don't get what kind of artist he is, it's probably because we like to label musicians and stick them in a certain genre. I think what makes Adam such an exceptional performer is that he'll be good in many genres and his show would reflect that (as do all the videos on YouTube).

When he was first approached by the owners of the Upright Cabaret to perform there, he wasn't that interested because he was used to performing to large audiences in a theater and thought the cabaret space wouldn't work for his type of performance. However, performing there was the best preparation he could have had for American Idol because he learned how to tone things down and connect with a more immediate and intimate audience.

When he did the New Year's show there (before the Hollywood auditions), the audience paid him the ultimate compliment. When they like a singer they throw their shoes at him and by the end of the evening the entire audience was in socks.

BTW, from MJS blog:

John Jay and Rich, the morning DJs at KISS Phoenix reported on their radio show this morning that something “big” is going to happen on tonight’s results show–something that’s never happened before.

The DJs are in Los Angeles–broadcasting from Ryan Seacrest’s studios–to attend this week’s Idol shows.

Last night, John Jay sent off a few overheated tweets hinting at something major going on in Paula’s dressing.

This morning they elaborated a bit.

While hanging out in Paula Abdul’s dressing room with her lawyer and agent, the DJs overheard discussions that spoke of Paula’s future as if leaving Idol next year was a done deal.

“They were talking as if she were done with American Idol,” said John Jay.

According to reports, Paula’s contract is up this year, and she still has not negotiated a new one. Paula told Cynthia McFadden in a Nightline interview set to air Thursday, “It’s not about replacing anybody. It’s about possibly moving on.”

They also had the opportunity to hang out with the Idols on set. There, they learned the details of what will go down tonight. They were told NOT to discuss it on radio this morning.

Vote for the Worst has thrown their support behind her. I usually don't think they make much of a difference, but maybe this time....

I'd like to see the powers that be at Idol remove a percentage of the points received by the contestant being supported by Vote for the Worst.

Good promo, heck something big happened last week, too, they WASTED the save!

I'm sure whoever's leaving tonight would like it, and probably would deserve it more..:confused3

How do they know these things?? I don't know what to expect, but I sure hope Allison & Lil leave tonight...any one else means one less talented and interesting winner, imho. ;)

I want to know who is voting for Lil. She's just awful!!!!
I don't think she's awful, but I certainly don't think she's in the same league as some of the other performers.

I think it is the Vote For The Worst crowd & I also am wondering if some people don't feel bad because of all the bashing she gets week after week from the judges. She just can't seem to do anything right. :confused3

I hope Dialidol is completely wrong, because I certainly hope the bottom 2 don't go home, especially the 2nd from the bottom. I wish they would have sent Matt packing last week instead of saving him. He is just not a favorite of mine at all.

As far as the others,
I liked Anoop but it sounds like I may be the only one.

No, you are not the only one, I liked him! I like him more and more every week...

I don't think it will happen but I would like Lil and Danny to leave.

Nope...Can't send Danny home.
It's Lil and Anoop or Matt.

They were backstage for over 1 1/2 hours last night and witnessed some the incident in Paula's dressing room regarding her contract and something else they're not allow to reveal. You can hear the entire podcast at http://mjsbigblog.com/ (it's in the middle of the page by now as there's so many new updates - like Jennifer Hudson might be pregnant). The AI stuff is at the beginning and end of the podcast.

I think he has done exactly what he needs to do to show what kind of artist he is going to be. He is going to be one that is going to have a broad range of songs and put on a show that isn't boring. He is going to perform and entertain. That is what you want in a concert right? I know I want more than someone to stand in the center of the stage in some ratty jeans and t-shirt. I also like a singer/band that can do more than one type of song (I mean even rock bands have ballads.) because it would be boring if they all sound the same and have the same tempo.

If he was female, no one would say anything about the "look" changes and wardrobe changes. Why can't he do the same thing? :confused3 All of the hair/clothes combinations he has chosen are actually fitting to the type of song he was singing at the time. It would be different if he had the "Clark Kent" look going on while singing Black and White or Born To Be Wild.

Every year there is always a "surprise" that is shocking :scared1:. With the exception of when Chris Daughtery and Michael Johns got voted off, there hasn't been to much that wasn't predictable.
