Dial Idol was wrong last week. There is no way #2 is #2.

I picture Anoop, Lil and Matt in bottom three.

Lil leaving.

I really, really hope so. The only ones up there who could have successful careers after this are Adam and Kris. They're the only two relevant ones. I can guarantee if Danny wins he'll be another Taylor Hicks. His voice isn't bad, but he ALWAYS sounds like he's struggling and he has no stage presence whatsoever. I don't understand why AI is pushing for him so much. If Lil won... I can't even see that happening  But again, I have no idea why they're pushing her through! Honestly, the only reason why I can see them pushing for her for so long is that she's one of only two girls left, and she's the only black contestant and American Idol has always been about politics. She's just nowhere near as good as anyone left, and when they try to push her into the "diva" category it just becomes more obvious that she's nowhere near as good as the girls of past seasons. She needs to GO!

I don't reallly think there has been another year where I am so bored by the crop of contestants.

This year, if Adam weren't on the show, I would have stopped watching. If there is ever a night where he is the first singer, I'll turn it off immediately afterwards.

Luckily, Adam is so amazing that he's worth waiting thru the rest of the snoozefest for his performance.

I haven't gone to a concert in decades, but I'd go to his show.

ITA. I have been perplexed by their pimping of him from the very beginning. I am sorry, but he's nothing more than a glorified praise band lead singer and one without ANY stage presence whatsoever. I honestly think he's probably just fine in front of a congregation, but on a big stage in front of a big audience, his voice and his presence simply do not fill the space or engage me in the slightest.

I wish Lil would have actually LISTENED to what Simon was trying to say.
She sings the SAME sort of song every week. The Rose was really no different.
I told DH before the show that she was either going to sing something from the Bodygaurd or a Bette Midler song.... :goodvibes
And the "Gospel" "twist" she put on it made it sound MORE like the songs she has always sung rather than like something new and current.
She can go home.

My thoughts on last nights show:

My favorite was Adam, everyone else but Kris just put me to sleep. I agree with Simon that songs like last weeks (Mad World) will get him more votes. I absolutely loved the string section during the first part of Born to Be Wild. I don't know if everyone caught it but they were up waving their bows above their heads. A lot of America may not get him but I think the musicians in the band definitely do.

.

I have to highlight this because I totally agree with what you are saying here.

I love Adam Lambert..he is a out of this world showman and knows how to take control of the stage and make it his!

I don't get all the complaining about his sheirking though. Tons of very well known musicians sheik, Steven Tyler, is a big shierker and look at his popularity. :confused3

I said it in the very beginning and I will say it again Adam reminds me of a very young Freddie Mercury, the looks, the voice, the mannerism....he has it all and whether he wins AI or not Adam Lambert will go far!!!

As far as tonight I am hoping Matt or Lil goes, I haven't liked them since the beginning and each week I dislike them more and more.
I am also OK with Anoop going home although he seems like a really cool guy.

I have read through this entire thread and have found some funny things. I would just like to say that I have been a fan of Allison and Adam from the minute I saw them- they are my #1 and #2 regardless of who is which. Although, Adam has slipped away from my liking these past few weeks- not because of his singing, but his overall presence. I don't know about of you, but I get a very stuck up and "diva" attitude from him. Maybe it's from his previous theater work and he is using it, but I don't like it.

Now to what I thought was funny. Adam has a musical theater background and has already performed in shows, but according to an interview it was just something to make money. I am not sure where his motives are with this competition, but being on Broadway is a dream for many people, but to him it was merely "a way to pay the bills". He has mentioned that he doesn't want to have that 'Broadway sound' so I wouldn't get your hopes up about seeing him in a theater production anytime soon- unless he doesn't win and needs "a way to pay the bills b/c everyone needs a job, right?" I want someone that is going to live and breathe their music from the beginning and become that artist. I just don't see it from him for some reason.

After I read that interview I was kind of curious about what his motives are in this competition and what he would like to gain from it? Right now the only thing I see him wanting to gain is attention- I probably would never buy his album. I like to compare him to David Cook, but have found it's not possible. David Cook get use that rockstar voice- win over America and not have to scream in every song like a banshee.

These are my opinions for now.. well maybe a rant? I am open to any thoughts on what you all think. I will check back after work.

All valid points, but if you don't like him why is he one of your favorites :confused3

Actually, I think he would probably LOVE Broadway...his musical theater background isn't in NYC on Broadway! Way different than a local or even big city production. And maybe he just wants to be a rock & roll star! I don't think there's anything wrong with it. The fact that a contestant like Danny is a music teacher...does that mean he doesn't want to be a rock star too?

And I don't get the diva vibe from him at all. I think he has been very gracious. Always polite and respectful. As my DH said, I didn't want to like him 'cause he seemed like he was going to be so over the top. But I just can't help liking him. His music is great and he seems like a nice person.

Remember that Adam wasn't on Broadway. He was doing musical theatre in LA. HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!

Adam is the only one that, to me, can sing any kind of music. Search around a little bit and you'll see what I mean. He's the only one out of this bunch that I can see being able to hold an audience for an entire concert. I see no stuck up and no diva. Personally, I like the screaming. I don't think we are going to hear it in every song he puts out though.

OMG LMAO this reminds me of Napolean Dynamite!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG LOL!!!!!!

That's it!!! That's who he is.... a glorious voice in a rock star package.

Sigh...now if he just gets his hands on some good original music he'll be set. That seems the toughest obstacle for an Idol winner. They always seem to rush out a CD and, great musician or not, the songs are crap.

So true.... As much as I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE  David Cook, his CD is not my favorite.

I hate that! The Idol's second albums are always better than the first, which is why I still have hope for David Cook's second CD ;)

I see nothing diva-ish or obnoxious in him at ALL.... :confused3 Maybe you're seeing confidence and getting that confused???? I find confidence a major turn on and cockiness a major turn off....

He mentioned earlier in the season that he's in this for the money, heck most people ARE. He's not found that up till now, that's why he's there. He could be a working actor till he dies... American Idol can make him a STAR.

For me this season just seems like a battle for second place.!

I agree. I'm not a huge Adam fan but let's face it, everyone else is boring boring boring and it's crystal clear he will win. There's not really any reason to even have these shows every week anymore (and that became apparent several weeks ago). A big shocker would be if he didn't win - as if that's going to happen:rotfl:.

Didn't a few of them say they are doing this for their families - i.e. to make money to live better. I'm sure they are also doing it because they love to sing & entertain. I don't think anyone is doing it without the thought of the money that may come with it.

Will the show put one of the fav's (Danny/Adam) in the bottom 2 for drama and so that the judges will decide to use their save?

I don't know. I thought Clay was a sure win but...(not because he was my favorite but he seem to get the loudest cheers & I don't think he was in the bottom 2 too often).

Even though Adam may be a working actor in Los Angeles, AI has give him national, if not international, exposure. I think he knew exactly how to guide his career.

As for Broadway, heck, even Constantine Maroulis (sp?) is in a show right now. So was Clay Aiken, Taylor Hicks, Ace Young, Fantasia and Diana DeGarmo (to name a few). I'm sure there will be a place for Adam if he decides to come this way. I can't wait!!!
