Dialidol results right now are funny. The bottom contestant has no score. A few of the rankings I can't figure out but generally I agree.

The top three are who I think will be the final top three. Just not in that order.

It's probably way too early for it to tell anything useful.

I just want to know how Megan made it on the show???? She really needs to go home! I thought Chris and Danny were the best tonight. Allison is one of my favorites but I did not think she sounded good tonight at all. I just hope that Megan is the one to go home. The way this show goes I think that won't be the case.

That was the first time I have really liked Kris. Much better this week.

Oh, finally, Kara knows how to count!!

LOL!

I saw her notes and next week she plans to say:
I have four syllables, two punctuation marks and one palidorne
"Too hot, to Hoot!"

Oh my I missed that Danny was at his Grandfather's funeral this past weekend.

It's probably way too early for it to tell anything useful.

Interesting thing about dialidol. The results after about 15 minutes of voting are very, very close to the final results. The positions may jockey by a place or two but not much.

I always check right away and it is a very good indication of their final results. Not always the same as on the show, of course, but generally the same early as later.

This week's show ranks in the "totally forgettable" category for me. Things only came to life when Adam took the stage, followed by a very good performance from Kris.
In a week where contestants COULD have performed current songs - ie. from 2001 to now - too many of the tunes were "blasts from the past."

My Top o' the heap
Adam - I was one of the fans hoping he would do "Crazy" but they obviously can't clear the rights to some of these songs. I don't like "Play that Funky Music" and quickly turn the radio dial if it comes on but once again, Adam put on an attention-grabbing performance. I woke up and was laughing out loud by the end of it. He demonstrated that he has a strong lower vocal range and his dance moves and hair were so cute. I loved his shout-out to the band. Totally professional.

Kris - this was the first time he's impressed me.

Middle o' the road
Allison - still very strong vocals, though I'm wondering if she shouldn't have waited a few years before entering this competition.

Danny - this was the first time I found Danny bearable - though only the opening of the song. When he went into the fortissimo "glory notes" near the end, he was wildly off pitch and the tone was appalling. There is no album I could ever imagine buying from him and I wouldn't pay to see him in concert. Obviously, he has a lot of people voting for him but so did Taylor Hicks and Fantasia (2 other singers I couldn't stomache), and neither of them has ever had much of a career.

Bottom o' the barrel
Lil - every season we have the powerhouse Diva's, and Lil doesn't hold a candle to the ones in the past. And don't trot out the 3 kiddies for sympathy votes. This is a competition to give somebody a shot at a career in a brutally tough business and I don't want to know about your personal life. I don't care if you're blind, have a dead wife, are gay, or had too many kids you can't support. That is not going to make me buy your recordings.
Matt
Anoop
Scott
Megan

Real hope Megan goes home.

The judges are the lamest part of the show. I haven't heard an original or interesting critique from them in years - esp. Randy. What a waste of space! It's become so cliché I can pretty well predict what each of them will say by now   And they probably get paid ridiculous amounts of money for it too.

Top 9 – Top Downloads

Since I missed out on tonight (darn work!), the reviews may be a little longer. I kinda missed hanging out with all you ladies (and my sole fellow male cohort Obi Wan – are there any others of us here?) tonight.

Anoop Desai – Caught Up – Not a song that I enjoy at all, and at the beginning it sounded like he had marbles in his mouth, but I think he was vocally alright. I agree with Simon that, at this point, Anoop is very much coming across as a wannabe R&B artist. He’s definitely a smart guy and I appreciated the little post-chat with Ryan, but at this stage, I’m not going to be upset when he goes.

Megan Joy – Turn Your Lights Down Low – That was Adam Lambert-caliber awful there. Absolutely one of the worst of the season.

Danny Gokey – What Hurts the Most – Probably Danny’s best performance since making the Top 13 (and I swear I typed that prior to Simon saying that), but there’s something about him that I don’t like, but I’m not sure what that is yet. I kinda like the gravely voice, he certainly seems like he connects to songs like this, but I’m missing something with him.

Allison Iraheta – Don’t Speak – I thought it was pretty good. I liked the “acoustic” beginning, but I felt like the arrangement didn’t do her any favors. The last 30 seconds was only “la la la’s”. I realize that’s the original song, but when you only get 90 seconds, it shouldn’t be filled with trivial stuff. On a side note, I kinda liked the way she looked tonight.

Scott MacIntyre – Just the Way You Are – I’m a huge Billy Joel fan, and the same cannot be said for Scott. It was fine…probably his best performance (once again, I swear I typed that before Simon said it), but I don’t like his voice and I probably never will. He goes for some weird notes that I just don’t care for at all.

Matt Giraud – You Found Me – Really liked the set-up in the audience for some reason. This was fine. Nothing really special, but I think the judges gave him a much tougher time than he deserved. I do feel like Matt (like Danny) is very full of himself and it’s sort of turning me off of him.

Lil Rounds – I Surrender – Okay, this song takes vocal chops. And Lil does not have those chops. There were lots of bad notes in this one and I didn’t think the belting at the end was any good. She simply yells and hits some high notes and thinks we’re supposed to applaud. Sorry, Lil…it’s time for you to go home (well, okay…Megan and Scott can go first, but you should be right after them). The judges were way too nice to her…they keep raving about her and I’ve yet to see the voice shine through.

Adam Lambert – Play That Funky Music – Much to my surprise, I had Adam in my “Top of the Heap,” but this week he was back to his horrendous (although on key) screeching. Adam, enjoy the trip to the “Bottom of the Barrel.” I really hated the arrangement…it was way too much all over the place. I don’t get him. That being said, he wasn’t the worst of the night (I’m talking to you, Megan and Lil)

Kris Allen – Ain’t No Sunshine – Love the song and Kris was, by far, the best of the night. I said it last week, but I want him to win this thing. I would buy Kris’s music without a doubt. Great arrangement – I’m a sucker for any songs that utilize strong string arrangements (I don’t know why, since I play the piano…probably because I’ve always wanted to learn to play the violin). Best of the night by a mile!

Side Note: Since I recorded Idol, I also had the Osbournes thing recorded after. Seriously, after 5 minutes, there was enough bleeping that I was utterly shocked it was on network tv. Fingers crossed the show'll tank.

Why is Megan on this show???? EVERYTHING she's sung has been just plain awful. I really hope she goes tonight.

Thank you.

I can't stand how she pronounces words and just stands there doing weird hand/arm movements. Ugh, she needs to get out of there now.

It's on like Donkey Kong folks! Tonights theme is a fascinating one since we finally get to see/hear some stuff that is recent and relevant. Let's get it on!

Anoop Desai: Well he looks fantastic. His stage presence is definitely good, but this song is just terrible. Is it me or is it completely a-melodic? Usher did this? Blarf... Only partially Anoop's fault since the song sucked eggs to begin with.

Megan Joy: "Turn Your Lights Down Low"...hmmm...I don't love the choice, but she COULD make it into something ok. Here is the problem; aside from her wooden/awkward stage presence, her voice is monotone. It never changes. It always has the same sound! How does she make every note sound like the same thing? I thought for sure she'd do Katy Perry's I Kissed A Girl or something. This was just a waste of airtime. :confused3

Danny Gokey: "What Hurts The Most"...I don't "do" country, but we'll see if he can make me sit up and take notice. He's got SUCH a nice tone to his voice, but something about this performance is leaving me a bit cold. The note he's hitting on the word "most" is totally nasally? And his last note was weak and flat. I think it's an unmemorable performance. :rolleyes1

Allison Iraheta: "Don't Speak" could be RIGHT up her alley. How will she make it "hers"? First off, WHAT the heck-fire is she wearing and what did they do to her hair???? She seems to be rushing through and "chewing" on the song. Again, I am not feeling it tonight. Maybe it's me? :sad2:

****SIDE NOTE****
WHY are the commercial breaks so freaking long tonight?? Seriously!

Scott McIntyre: "Just The Way You Are"...oh come on! If THIS is the music Scott wants to do then he needs the boot now. He sounds like a lounge singer. Bottom line, old, been-there-done-that, and not good enough. Hmph.:snooty:

Matt Giraud: "You Found Me", well at least it's current. Ryan stepped all over the intro...thanks a lot. This is Goddawful. I have a problem with singers who pronounce "me" like "mehhhh" and this grates right along that nerve. The performance was so bad I can't even begin to describe it. :scared:

Lil Rounds: "I Surrender" Oh dear. She is singing COMPLETELY through her nose. This is another painful performance. Really..I surrender...jeeesh!

Adam Lambert: "Play That Funky Music"...aha...ahaha...Yes...just yes. HELL YES. The boy can SANG and work a stage like a professional. He makes me laugh and go to my happy place...THAT is how you entertain a crowd dangit! :worship:

***Side Note***
DH doesn't like Adam's Eddie Munster hair.:lmao:

Kris Allen: "Ain't No Sunshine"...I don't care too much for the song in general, but we'll see. Not a fan of his "dirt-lip"...shave or grow a real 'stache dude! But on the rizzle? This is smokin' hotness. He stepped it UP. Another artist who knows who he is. Me likey! :lovestruc

Only a partial train wreck tonight! My final thoughts:

Top o' the heap
Adam
Kris

Middle o' the road
Danny
Scott
Lil

Bottom o' the barrel
Megan
Anoop
Allison
Matt

Going home? Megan...I hope.

I went back and read my thoughts on the night again after having a while to chew it over. I think I'm going to change my top choices again. All along we've been pretty assured of an Adam/Danny finale, but it's becoming quite apparent that Kris is fighting for his place at the table. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the top 3 will be Adam, Danny, and Kris (replacing Allison, IF she turns in another weak performance like last night).

Somebody mentioned how "predictable" and pointless the judges commentary has been. I disagree. I have not only agreed with them 9 out of 10 times, but almost every time, MY thoughts have mirrored their verbatim before they ever open their mouths. The problem isn't the judges (they're calling it like they see it), it's the contestants providing us/them with the same old same old.

Is it May already? I'm getting tired of this season.

How about a massive auf'ing (sorry- slipped into Project Runway for a bit) and have 2 or 3 battle it out for the rest of the season.

Do you watch Hell's Kitchen? Mucho bleeping!!!
