American Idol Top 4 Idol Chatter and Idle Chatter

I
Or rather, I'm fine with it as long as he doesn't lose because homophobic bigots voted for "Anyone but Adam". That just makes me sick. Having read some horrible rants against him last night, I had nightmares about a sniper shooting him on stage and I only hope his parents are not aware of the murderous talk out there. I'm still pretty shaken by some of the stuff I read and given a couple of comments he's made, I think he's aware of it too. I do think that he is the bravest performer ever on that stage.

wow - I had no idea that there were really ugly haters out there.

I've enjoyed some of his performances, but his screeching and yelling just isn't my "thing". I agree that he is the most theatrical - he is quite the performer.

I'm far from being a teenager, I passed that age three years ago. I'm in my 20's. :snooty:

I just hope my friend know he's owes me at fan fair as much as I voted last night.

This is the last night I'll be watching live, I'll be gone as of 2 am to Florida. :woohoo:

Have fun in Florida!!!! Wish I was there.... especially with Star Wars Weekends coming up......

I will, I think I got sick from Saturday so I'm off to the doctors in a bit. Last year i hurt my hand, this year I'm sick and in a splint.

The ugly splint:

Feel better!!!

I've loved Adam the entire season, but I have noticed his tongue more in the last couple of weeks. It's starting to bug me a little. Still, he's my favorite by miles. I just wish he could sing without that tongue poking out so far. :scared: BUT -He is very hansome and extremely talented, so I guess I can overlook his one fault. :lmao:

Looks like the closest to me is Carrboro, NC...
Me too, but my kids have their church play that night.
Do you think they will notice if I don't show up? :confused3 (The Cat's Cradle is pretty small. I'd love to be that close to DC!!!!!)

The splint sadly only comes in one color and the straps are in one color. When I wear I can't do palm up or palm down.

Thanks I'm excited for vacation, we're trying a new hotel staying at Beach Club.

Maybe you can paint it to your color favs..... :)

You call it screech...I dont' see it that way at all...that is my favorite part of his songs...when he goes for the high notes...I love it..to each his own.

Funny, everybody who doesn't like Adam talks about his screatching in his songs, yet the judges never make mention of it:confused3

I am an Adam fan:thumbsup2

Simon was on Ellen and Oprah and they both asked him who they think should win and he said "Adam"

Ryan Seacrest was on Ellen, and she asked him the same question, he also picked Adam

Here's why.

Believe me, as an event planner, I've listened to countless hours of musicians' demo reels and.... I know from screeching. The judges do too (although they barely called Danny on that howler from Dream On). Here's the deal:

Adam does not screech.

He has a "rock wail" or "rock scream" which as Danny Gokey so ably demonstrated last week, is freaking hard to do. You have to be in key, on pitch, able to sustain it for a lonnnng time at high intensity-- yup, it's hard to do and Adam does it impeccably. In fact, I'd say he's one of the best in the world right now in terms of a rock voice.

And you're either gonna like that or not. I'm an old school rock chick and I LOVE it.

A listener might not like the rock wail, but Adam does it right, just like Danny Gokey may do praise band music right but I just don't like that music or Kanye West does his stuff right but I don't like it either. I'm not saying those artists are not good at what they do, I just don't like what they do and that's an important difference.

The amazing thing with Adam, for me, is that he's able to do so much more than just an amazing rock voice.

I do wish last night that he'd showcased more of his ballad work, but I think he was going for his comfort zone -- he's said that as much as he got the accolades for TOMT and MW, he feels extremely vulnerable when he sings like that. It's not uncommon for an artist of his caliber and intensity at this age to be more comfortable showcasing musical skill, anger, sex, or humor than vulnerability. I think as time goes on and he matures and achieves more success, he'll become more comfortable showing the vulnerability.

I look forward to that and I'm looking forward to watching his development as an artist, because that's what he is -- an artist.

Thus ends my "Loving Adam Lambert" hour. You may resume your regularly-scheduled events. LOL

I agree!!! Anyone who listens to rock knows the difference between screeching and the "rock wail" (love that term! :thumbsup2) I'm a huge fan of Guns N Roses, Aerosmith, Zeppelin, The Who... they all had the rock wail down, and Adam's right up there with the best of them. If you consider Adam's singing to be screeching then you're just not into rock (or at least that type of rock) because there's no denying that the guy's got an awesome voice. If you're not into that style of music then you're just not into it... nothing wrong with that. But Adam's not technically screeching... he's on key and sounds awesome. It's RIDICULOUSLY hard to be able to hit the notes he does! And you're right, he's not just a singer who blandly reproduces what others have already done... he's an artist. He has an ear for music like no one else up there and is able to do things with the songs none of the other contestants have been able to think of. He's going to put on an amazing show once he's out there on his own!

If you want screeching...

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: Oh lord, I still can't get over the fact that he can scream entire songs, do nothing original, dance horrendously and hit a note like THAT and still make it so far :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: Oh American Idol, how you entertain me ;)

Whoa, that's a pretty broad and false assumption. DH and I are HUGE rock fans (Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd, GNR, STP, ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, etc...). We both think that Adam screeches and his version of "rock" just doesn't appeal to us. We both think he has too much of a theater sound in his voice. Personally, I laugh when people compare him to all these great rock legends. I think he needs to do a little more than appear on AI to prove himself. So far, he hasn't to me. Until then, I don't think the comparison is fair. Just b/c we don't think he can sing doesn't mean we're less of a rock fan. It just means we don't care for his screechiness.

Ok first I grew up in the 80's--the decade of awesome rock--I LOVE ROCK!!

Aerosmith,GNR,Metallica,Manowar(want a rock wail check out their song Thor!) From hair metal to heavy metal I rocked my way thru them all and passed on my love to my kids.

Adam can sing,I'm not saying he can't but hell even Steven Tyler knows you don't do an entire album of "rock wail" songs--It does nothing to keep people interested or to attract new fans which is what every singer/band needs to grow and become/stay important in an industry where one hit wonders abound.

Adam has chose to screech every song because the judges fall over themselves every week to tell him how wickedly awesome he is and how he can do no wrong and don't give him an actual critique--What they should tell him is that a singer of his caliber can do a song justice without screeching it or wagging his tongue at us (dirty thought :rolleyes1 )

Wow, do we all have to pull out the I KNOW MUSIC cards?????

It's not expertise, it's PREFERENCE, folks. It's not a matter of wrong or right, it's what you like personally.

I miss the old fun thread. This year it seems to be so polarized. The fact of the matter is all THREE of these men deserve to be there and that's something that hasn't happened on AI in YEARS. No matter what you like or don't like, these guys will be bigger and better than they were a few months ago.

Now can we all just get along???? :grouphug:

:lmao::lmao: I do agree. I think he changes it up more than anyone else there (Tracks of My Tears was awesome, and I actually LOOOVEDDDD Ring of Fire which was also "screech"less ) but I hated Cryin' last night. I even mentioned to my friends as we watched it that he picked one of the few Aerosmith songs where Steven Tyler doesn't do the wailing thing and it just didn't fit. However, there's no denying that he has an awesome voice. If you just don't like him or that type of music then it's obviously fine, but there's no denying that the guy can SAAAAANNGGGGG

He's definitely not up there with the greats yet. I meant his voice is right up there with a lot of theirs. Most of the biggest rock stars of all time didn't even technically have great voices. None of the Beatles had great voices... neither does Robert Plant or Roger Daltry and I love them all. It's about charisma, writing great songs and being able to put on a hell of show, which they all did in droves. Adam has years and years of proving himself before he can get close to any of the greats (the guy hasn't even released an album yet!) but based on his voice alone, he's ridiculously talented.

As for the "rock fan" thing, his "screech" sounds just like Axl Rose and Steven Tyler. I'm just saying that he's not screeching, he stays in tune and knows exactly what he's doing. Unlike someone else on the show who I truly can't stand ;)

:laughing::rotfl2: :thumbsup2

After all the Adam/Danny debates, watch Kris win! I've loved him from the beginning so I hope it comes down to him and Adam, that would be an awesome finale and I wouldn't care who won :thumbsup2 Danny has a big fan base but Kris is ahead on Dial Idol. Plus he appeals to teen girls who text votes like crazy, whereas I can't see Danny's fan base doing so. Go Kris!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
