I'm happy that Allison is gone. I was really sure Kris was going last night so I'm thrilled he still there. I would love to have a Danny and Kris as fine two. I'm sorry Adam is two broadway for me. This show is about music not theatre.

ITA! I was nervous after Allison's duet w/ Adam. I really thought that might've saved her. I'm relieved that Kris made it to the final three instead! I wouldn't mind if Danny and Kris were the final too, either. There's just something about Adam's voice that I don't like, and I think it's probably the whole Broadway thing.

Yep! Even my DH (who is a HUGE classic rock fan) came in and said, "Ew, who is the theater dude ruining Zeppelin?" I LOVE that song, and I really didn't think Adam did it much justice.

The problem with the music business right now is that album sales are the pits. To make the big bucks, you need to be able to perform and sell out arenas by putting on a great show. I cannot see Danny selling out any arenas. He's not going to be able to make his label any money and will get dropped very quickly. Adam on the other hand, knows how to entertain. His concerts are going to be fantastic and his label will be loving him!

I can't see Adam selling many records, but hey, I could be wrong. His future is singing and dancing under the bright lights.

More to the point, though, what will happen if Adam does win? In the past AI has shied away from folks who excel at musical THEATRE, in favor of singers, period. The contest will probably have to evolve into more of a talent show in future years. It would be impossible to have Adam win and lot allow other talented musical theatre folks to have their chance, too.

(I expect they will look for the cream of the crop of musical theatre, they will still avoid the cruise ship singers/dancers.)

Musical theatre, is, at it's heart, is theatre. It's pretty hard to compare the two. Musical theatre trains it's performers in a very different style. It's all about the show and projection.
Ask any very good vocal coach.

I gladly stand corrected. May I add, though, that Jennifer Hudson has never had that over theatrical, over projected vocalization that is usually associated with some folks on ships/dinner theatres.
There is always an exception.

Well I am not a vocal coach but I have to jump in here with a comment about country music. I have lived in Nashville for over 30 years and know several people in the country music business. While country music executives want you to think its all about the song and the artist, I think it has become something very different. This town is routinely criticized for trying to create artists into a package that they think will sell. The labels have stylists and managers that put out what many see as cookie cutter images. Those of you who followed his career will remember the tremendous struggle that even the great Johnny Cash had with country music establishment near the end of his life. It may have started as being all about the song but I don't think it is that way now.

As far as all of the anti-Adam comments, I want to counter those with my vote for Adam being the best singer left. I think that Adam is getting all of this attention because he is simply the best and that threatens some people. What some of you see as theatrical, I see as a great command of the stage. He has an amazing voice and is confident in his ability. I think that Danny showed us on Tuesday night how hard it is to do what Adam is able to do. If Adam is just screaming like some of you like to complain then Danny's epic failure on Tuesday wouldn't be nearly as funny. That was a scream vs. the ability to hit and hold a high note.

Adam will probably win, and that will be the last we'll hear of him--until his first (of many) Broadway openings. He's a very talented singer/dancer/actor, and that's his genre. (Emphasis on the ACTING...most universities with a musical theatre program have an Adam-esque student every few years.)

Me? I tend to smile a little when he performs. I swear he's Elvis's reincarnation.

Or he'll fit right into the alt rock scene, like My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy or Framing Hanley. All those bands have the same love for guyliner, black leather and black fingernails.

You probably got a bit of a skewed view of my view of music. Post #626 specifically compared country, so that's why I mentioned it. I like pop, rock, jazz, blues, big band, some country, you name it.
And Adam has loyal fans. That's a good thing.

My take on Adam..yes I think his every move is totally rehearsed. I think that is why I don't like him. To me he seems like the type that stands in front of the mirror and practices his moves and facial expressions over and over till he has it down pat. Then other than Motown week every song he sings starts out nice and he's just singing...then he gears up for his glory ending..he speeds it up, voice gets loader, mouth opens wider, tongue comes out and the screeching begins. Everyone complains that Danny sounds the same and does the same every week...so does Adam he just changes his look and his performance every week..but his style of singing is the same. Again...just my humble little opinion. I do think he will win or I'd be very surprised if he didn't but I am not going to like the fact that he won.

And me...I'd be more apt to go see someone who just sings in concert rather than someone who has to do a show with all the bells and whistles to make it interesting. I go to listen to the songs...everything else is show and that is why I stay away from concerts unless they are in small venues.

yes it was...and I totally agree on the view of country music from the long post. It is now more about the "cookie cutter country star" than the anything else. I wonder if George Strait was trying to get into country now if they would even give him a second look? And Reba? It all seems to be skinny girls without much talent (except for Carrie)coming out now. I still like country but I like my old country so much better.

As much as I hate to say it, as an Adam fan, I think Adam's best shot to win is against Danny. If Kris goes next week, his fans if they continue to vote will at least partially go to Adam. If Danny gets voted off next week I think any of his fans that continue to vote will go to Kris.

And may I say again how much I hate having fewer songs this season.
