American Idol Season 9 Thread

While so far supremely unimpressed, I have not given up hope...YET. If everyone will recall, David Cook was as lackluster and unimpressive as all get out during his first Top 24 night. It was his SECOND week where he laid the smack down with "Hello."

So far the BEST seasons, IMO have been:

Taylor Hicks season. For giving us Chris daughtry and Sooooouuuul Patrooooooooool!.

David Cook's season. For reminding me what having a crush feels like!

Kelly Clarkson's season. For giving us a bonafide superstar.

Rueben Studdard's season. For giving us Clay Aiken and a "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and reminding all of us to never judge a book by it's cover.

All the other seasons were a bust AFAIC. I can name a"moment" or two from the remaining seasons that stuck with me, but otherwise couldn't give a dang about them.

And ...

Constantine -- Reminding us what SLIMY sounds like :scared:

Bo Bice - For his rendition of "Vehicle" which I play EVERYDAY

Chekezie, George Huff and Anwar Robinson - Reminding us that all Black men do NOT necessarily rap or have soul :sad2:

Jasmine Trias, Sanjaya, Diane DeGarmo, David Archuleta - Reminding us that pre teens have dialing fingers and KNOW HOW TO USE THEM :scared1:

Antonella - Reminding us that sleazy has a place on AI, as well... popcorn::

Michael Johns -- For reminding ME that I'm a bonified COUGAR!

Oooh! that gives me an idea...while we are killing time waiting for tonight, let's name our favoite Idol moments. For me, in no particular order:

David Cook says "Hello" world.

Chris Daughtry does "Wanted Dead or Alive". :thumbsup2

Clay Aiken's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" with the choir backing him up. :goodvibes

Bo Bice's accapella song "In A Dream". :)

Blake Lewis beat boxes "Shot through The heart." Nobody saw that coming. :cool2:

Adam Lambert sings with KISS. Natch! :woohoo:

Constantine Maroulis sings "Boehmian Rhapsody." Ooh I hated HIM, but had to give props for the song.

Elliot Yamin does "A Song for You." Hated snaggle-tooth too, but everytime I hear this song, I think of Elliot and smile.:flower3:

Kelly Clarkson sings her coronation song "A Moment Like This" and cries. Yeah...it's emotional. :upsidedow

Honorable mention to: EVERYTHING David Cook and Adam Lambert ever sang on stage, as well as Chris Daughtry.

Favorite Idol moments:

Jason Castro singing Hallelujah and Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Adam Lambert singing Tracks of My Tears and Mad World

second the mention of Clay Aiken singing Bridge Over Troubled Waters

I think this year's pickings are slim and none. One or two guys stand out....most of the girls.....meh. The one that slays me the most is Haeley. First, what were her parents thinking when they spelled her name that way? :rotfl2: Second, I cannot look at her without thinking, "There goes Buckwheat's love child." :scared1: Not the "real" Buckwheat, mind you, but rather Buckwheat as done by Eddie Murphy. That big old goofy grin, the indecipherable lyrics as she sways from side to side....It's truly Eddie Murphy imitating Buckwheat, only in a dress with a guitar. What a train wreck! And her mom clearly thinks she's Barbra Streisand. :lmao:

How did I forget these!!! Wow!!! :worship:

Guys tonight girls tomorrow. Something medically wrong with crystal preventing her from performing

Favorite Idol moments...there are just so many....I agree with some posted here.

David Cook...Had me from Hello (up till that point I was just :confused3 about him)

Kelly Clarkson winning and tearing up and me tearing up right along with her.

Carrie Underwood winning...I really like Carrie.

Clay Aiken...not one particular song but way back to his audition. Geeky looking thing walks in and everyone is thinking "here we go again" and then he sang....

Jordin Sparks singing "I (Who Have Nothing). That was the first time I thought that she had "it".

Ace Young...everything...really. OK. My favorite Ace moment "Father Figure". Yes, Ace is the one that I had my cougar moment with. That boy just make me smile (and is why I have my twitterpatted tag)

Funny moment: crying girl in the audience crying over Sanjaya. :rolleyes1

Katelyn - Some potential... still not sure...
Totally OT but I adore her hair. I always wanted those big curls.

Yes! That whole skit was a gut buster!

Some of my faves:

#1 by far is Adam and KISS!

Ace doing Father Figure.

Blake Lewis doing Shot Through The Heart

Clay doing Bridge Over Troubled Water

DC singing Hello

Daughtry doing Walk The Line

(Wait, are there women on this show??)

As much as I couldn't stand her, gotta give props to Fantasia doing Summertime. I'll forgive the tears.

ask around on this thread, some of them will tell you. i think Robin remembers me liking David Cook right away, when everyone else was still making fun of his hair....

(Wait, are there women on this show??)

you know what? i was actually thinking while i was typing in my favorite parts "were there no women that i remember?" and sadly...there aren't. but i have mentioned before that i tend to like male singers better anyway, their voices are easier to tell apart than women's voices.
