American Idol Season 9 Thread

The back stories didn't bug me till this year. A man who loses his wife at such a young age... that is rare and sad . A man whose wife is having a baby.... ... what the?

You cannot blame them at all, the writers for the show like the stories and they shove them in our faces.

yeah it seems like they're REALLY pushing the whole "i have a kid" thing

Crystal, Andrew, and Michael all have kids and that's all we keep hearing about(Altho we don't hear quite as much about Crystal's situation than the two guys).

i just don't really care for much of the "packages" they put on before the contestant sings, anyway. i just want to hear them sing, that's all.

Aww, that was a low blow. NKOTB has absolutely nothing to do with American Idol. I couldn't care less if you like Gokey. I don't. I love, love, love Lambert. Many others don't. Doesn't make me like him any less.

And doesn't make one like or dislike another poster any less for who they like. There was ALOT of disagreement about Adam Lambert last year. Part, I think, was his sexual orientation and the other about his screaming the lyrics.

Twas fun.

Actually, this year's so bad I thought he'd run out of ammunition before the top 12!!

He's got unlimited ammo just like the good guys have in all the action flicks (Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, etc).

I still have hopes for this season. I am hoping this week was just a case of nerves for everyone and that they all learned a lesson on song choice.

Of course this could be like the Fantasia year and that will not be a good thing. I want to be able to vote for someone this year.

If it wasn't for Fantasia, I wouldn't be watching. She got hyped up here moreso than Chris Daughtry did later on.

While this season looks bad at this point, I'm not willing to pass final judgement yet. It is kind of disturbing to think that people can be so easily swayed but I think AI is able to polish up contestants in some cases and convince the viewing public to see talent where it might not really exist. They are masters at PR and manipulating people. It will be interesting to see who begins to get notice out of this group. That is except for Casey - he already has our attention.
