American Idol Season 9 Thread

I finally finished watching last night's episode and just starting watching tonight's episode. The girls were so unimpressive. No one was amazing or stood out. Of course there were some that were better than others, but no one wowed me. I was definitely disappointed.

Maybe everyone realized you can't be amazing the first night otherwise you have no room to improve??

I'm a little behind...remember, I use a DVR. Here are my thoughts about the guys (PS, all my comments are typed as they sing...BEFORE the judges comment):

Todrick Hall...."Since You been Gone". An odd choice. I don't like this arrangement at ALL, but I'll give him an A for originality and effort. The vocals are weak, but the "performance" was (as Randy would say) a'ight.

Aaron Kelly...."Here Comes Goodbye". Okay, what is with the southern accent thrown in?? Ugh. He sounds strained, and his performance is wooden. Also, I see he got dressed up for the occassion. Is he going to Math class or performing on Idol??

Jermaine Sellers...."Get Here". This song couldn't BE more boring, and he's practically whispering. There are some notes in there that don't exist in nature. It hurts mommy...make it stop.

Tim Urban...."Apologize". This song has been done to death and he's popping the mic. I hate to say it, but he's no "David Archuletta" (who rocked this two years ago). This is out of tune and he can't hit the high notes. Poor Chris GoLightly is probably mad as hell right now, watching Tim BLOW the chance that should've been his.

Joe Munoz...."You and I". Wasn't he Jose last week? Is he trying to make himself a bit less ethnic? But so far he has the best vocals of the night. Good on him. He needs an eyebrow waxing. But Finally my ears didn't hurt!

Tyler Grady...."American Woman." WTH??? I just don't get this performance. The vocals are super weak and I really think he's taking this "Jim Morrison" thing too much to heart. I'm not sure there was a single note in tune.

Lee Dewyze...."Chasing Cars". He's got a good "band voice". Ya know...drowned out by guitars and drums. Ugh. So many missed notes, so many grumbled lyrics. Also he is singing through his nose...like he's singing while trying to take a dump.

John Park...."God Bless The Child". I hate this song too. SO BORING. ZZzzzzzzzzzz....huh? Wha? Still going? Umm...he can sing. Please somebody tell him to pick something from the last 50 years next time.

Mike Lynche...."This Love". At least this is upbeat. He's got something about his voice and presence that just makes me smile. I think he could make an album...pop..hip-hop. I'd like to see him SING a bit more. This song is a bit monotone, but he was the best of the night so far. PS...I thought everyone said he got the boot??? Looks like the rumors were all wrong.

Alex Lambert...."A Wonderful World". He's got a fun tone to his voice, like Jason Mraz (or Elliot Yamin according to DH). His stage presence is SO STIFF. I assume he's nervous, but he looks like a mannaquin. The voice was super duper...the performance needs work.

Casey James...."Heaven". Smart...a guitar and a stool. I think my underwear just fell off. Holy hot! Even Dh said "better than Bryan Adams". This guy knows who he is as a musician and can deliver. I'd listen to him all day. Sounds like a young Bob Segar. HAWT!!

Andrew Garcia...."Sugar We're Goin' Down". What a nice tone he has to his voice. He'll lay down some seriously good tunes someday. He is easily the best singer/performer of the group.

And that's all I have to say about that!

i think i might have to start doing that from now on lol

well it's February now...if he DID make it far, the show ends at the end of May...plus then there's the tour after that.

if the wife and the child were allowed on the road or to actually stay with him while he was on the show, then i don't think it would bother me. but he really isn't going to see them at all.
what about this last kid - a stay at home dad.....he's not seeing his "family", a newborn is a different creature.

i actually saw the youngest one at this Cirque Du Soleli show i went to a few months ago in Toronto....drinking at the VIP bar no less.....and he definatly isn't 19(legal age in Canada). i'm KICKING myself for not taking a pic of that, either! my DH kept telling me to, but i didn't think it was an ACTUAL JoBro until the kid pratically bumped into me and i saw his face...and then a bunch of little girls following him lol
I am surprised at that. was it obvious he was drinking liquor?
I am with Simon, I was SO disappointed. I was looking forward to this last guy.

I thought Andrew's song sounded too high pitched. Overall...disappointing.

Sorry beside the color of the hair there is NO COMPARISON!

Oh I totally agree there. I was just saying that he has that same kind of hair. I personally couldn't stand Bucky but I like Casey. He can actually sing.

This wrap-up segment is making me cringe and wanna curl up into a fetal position on the floor and chant "momma" over and over and over....

i just think that the whole using the "i have a baby at home" story is so overused and annoying now. i don't care about their home lives, i vote because i like the songs and personalities.

he waited until his father(whom i only figured out who he was after i explained what the guy looked like to a friend) left the VIP area for a few minutes and he went up to the bar, grabbed a drink and downed it really quick. the only reason i even noticed is because my table was the only one facing the bar.

If that isn't tag-worthy I don't know what is!! :lmao:

Since I just started watching, I got to see Casey and Andrew. I thought they were the top contenders for the guys and even they were so so. I'm afraid to watch the rest after all the comments I've seen! It seems like it was just as bad if not worse than last night.

After Adam last season, there's just no one that can live up to him. It seems like this is gonna be another crappy season like season 3.

good night all, I really have no front runners to leave for either gals or guys....there was no real stand outs.....
