American Idol Season 6: The Official Thread

I'm actually expecting this year's winner to be better than any from the past few years.

Fellow Taylor fans, or Carrie fans, or other winners' fans would probably disagree. popcorn::

I am excited. I think it is time for a change of pace in American Idol. I really hope someone who is good as in Fantasia makes it all the way. Anyway, I am stoked.

And, as likely as not, it'll end up being a self-fulfilling prophesy either way: People who go in expecting to not like this coming year's winner probably won't, and people who go in expecting to be very well entertained probably will. I suppose it all comes down to the reason folks are watching: To ratify your previous fandom? or to enjoy yourself? :rotfl:

Just bumping...a little over a week!

On a related note, but not really...
We went out and bought the American Idol Playstation game today...my husband beat me! It actually is really cool though. I got a perfect score singing Heart's "Alone."

If you're an Idol junkie, and like to sing, its a really fun game. I recommend it!

Sign me up folks! I'm a HUGE American Idol Fan! Can't wait for the new season to start.

Gotta say: How fabulous that Jennifer Hudson ROCKS in Dreamgirls! When I saw it, the people clapped and cheered during her perfomances AND during the credits when her name appeared. Now I hope that LaToya London gets some attention next!

Just re-bumping!

5 more days!

I was just reading somewhere that there is supposed to be a "major twist" in the show this year, somewhere around midseason.

And has anyone else heard about the songwriting competition they are having to find the song to use for the finale?

They've got an article in "Entertainment Weekly" this week too. :)

We (wife and I both) were a little let down last year. There was a lot of talent in the Carrie year with Bo and all, so we're hoping for a repeat of that level! Can't wait for it to start. Week # 2 we'll be in WDW, so I need to make sure I set the Tivo!!!!

Monte Cristo - your child is ADORABLE!!!!! I almost forgot to read your post from looking at the pictures.

I can't believe it's almost time for the show! Can't wait to see all the bad singers in the beginning! :happytv:

Woohoo so excited for the new season. I found a little article relating to AI through my RF fan club.

January 8, 2007 — When "American Idol" returns to television on January 16, viewers will more than likely be treated to renditions of at least one Rascal Flatts song. The show, which has given country music such talent as Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler and Josh Gracin, has also given Rascal Flatts some added exposure, as their songs have been sung by contestants since the first season.

Gary Levox tells X Radio that one of the trio's songs, "Broken Road" has now become a staple of the show: "When Josh Gracin would sing it on the show, it was like 'Well, who's Rascal Flatts?'" he says. "I asked Carrie about it. That's actually a part of the show now, where they play it during the beginning stages. After they pick who is going to Hollywood, they have to sing 'Broken Road.' It's really, really cool."

Bandmate Joe Don Rooney agrees. "It's a sweet compliment anytime you get your music sung by a lot of people like that trying to win a contest," he says. "That's amazing. That's huge."

So that may be one of the new twists to the show.

i wish they'd bring back an 80's music night. i don't think they've done it since the first season, but that's my favorite theme!
would love to see a david bowie night. how cool would that be? :cool2:

I definitely plan on watching it. Not sure how long though, because by the time they get down to the final 12 is when I start getting bored with it.

It's almost time!! :happytv: I guess some people don't like seeing the bad singers or something, but I like the whole process, especially watching your favorites go through all of it. And of course the bad ones make for good TV too. Can't wait! :thumbsup2
