ok my rant is over...as one person said earlier in this thread....guys are great cause they can forgive and forget...well thats what I am doing now...its over...I said my peace and will speak no more of it unless I am questioned on it again....and for the record i will not comment on Elliott or Fantasia in that way anymore but I wont hesitate to partake in any conversations about each...I will refrain form saying they stink...lets move on to season 6....

Yep--they were teh one with the beat box.

I was mildly scared for beat box guy. I do think he needs to be careful with how much he does that....but other than that it sounded AWESOME!!!!

I don't know if anyone has talked about this further (I'm getting caught up on the thread) but " the beat box guy" (Blake Lewis) is a friend of mine.

He's really, really talented, and has been beat-boxing/singing for as long as I've known him.

So, yeah, barring anyone else really wowing me, I guess we know who I'll be voting for.

ETA: I also know Rudy, one of the other guys in the "How Deep Is Your Love" group

So does he actually sing really well? I don't think we've heard him sing much yet. I like that he's different from the other contestants and seems to be confident in a good kind of way.

I am still confused about this whole crdibility thing....what makes any of us really credible judging someones voice....its not like its scientific evidence....its a voice...you either like it or you dont....maybe some in betweens....but nothing makes one more credible than the next...I dont like Fantasia's or Elliott's voices...thats my opinion...I think they stunk...thats my opinion....for those who like them fine....I could say you are not credible right...I dont get....I dont think credibility is an issue....this is an opinon discussion boards its not like we are expert judges or witnesses....does that make any sense....I cant really explain it but it just dont seem right to say I am not credible cause I dont like a persons voice....I mean I would rather listen to Wiliam Hung over Elliott and Fantasia....but thats a matter of opnion not credibility right

Even the judges will often (though not always) give the contestants more information than that.

"you were pitchy"
"you were off key"
"you were unoriginal"
"you are too loud"
"you have funny facial expressions that are too distracting"
"You butchered that song"



I can say Chris Daughtry sucks--but I do know why he sucks to "me". It isn't him..it is the songs he sings. I don't like the songs. His voice though--I do like. Won't ever buy an album or listen to his music though as it is a genre that I don't care for personally.

Now if Fantasia sounds like nails on a chalkboard to someone whenever they hear her sing...well then that supports the "I think they suck" argument.

Chatting about the contestants really is no fun if all you can say is he's good or he sucks. Much more fun conversation to know how one formulated that opinion.

yeah and Disney board and i am in the middle of planning a friends trip and my families trip....plus trying to keep up with 3 college classes, 2 kids playing basketball and me coaching both, a wife, the Apprentice, Survivor, Rob and Amber, College Basketball, oh and Lost....what more can we add....oh yeah Amazing race all stars about to start....not to mention a 40 hour a week job....i am tired....

He is pretty smooth with the ladies. I knew he was going to make it into the top 24, but the way they set it up was totally cruel.

If he had vibrato..that could be why. I like smooth voices better than vibrato. The vibrato to me is quite distracting depending on how bad it is. If it is mild, I can hear past it. But if it is much beyond that..it reminds me of my dad who *thinks* he can sing..but he is terrible...and a throat singer...and I think he forces the vibrato that comes out. Awful!

maybe your right it must be that...Vibrato...not sure what other singers have a vibrato that I can decide if thats what it is or not....name singers with Vibrato....Elvis?....if so I didnt like him....cant really think of any singers I really just dont like....

Just a random thought. As Idol continues, I really believe a more mature viewing group is beginning to get a handle on the voting. Even with the exact same group that formed last year's season, I don't believe Taylor could have won it all 4 or 5 years ago because the bulk of the voting was coming from a younger crowd.

This year I think we'll see that mature group again. The old fogies want substance, not fluff and we don't care if it looks unidol like.

I'd like to see some kind of voting system put in place like they do on Dancing with the Stars (I believe that's the show) where you only get so many votes per phone line and each week it gets less and less. Like the first week, 12 votes would be accepted per phone line, then the next week 11, etc.
