American Idol Season 6: The Official Thread Part 3

I think Jordin's last song last night was probably one of the worst performances of the season.

That's because she was sobbing throught it!!

What happened to Reuben? I don't think he's aging gracefully!! He looks about ten years older, JMO, but it was hard to recognize him..... He was in good voice though & I wish he would put out songs like the duet he had last night....

Bette? OMG, she was so god awful I couldn't believe it, I had to leave the room.... oh god was it awful....

I didn't like nor dislike Taylor's new song... it was just sort of 'eh to me.....

Now what is this talk about Kelly feuding with Clive? She looked and sounded great last night....

Too bad about Green Day not performing live, that would have been so much better...

I honestly thought Blake did a better job than Doug E. Fresh :) Go Blake!

Congrats to Jordin...

Well, for sure, this years finale fell flat in comparison to last year's. Here's my high points, low points, who cares points and WTH points.

Low Points:
Kelley singing. I have never and will never understand the mass appeal of this girl's voice. :confused3
Blake and who ever the heck that guy was doing the number they did. I hit mute in record time.
Green Day. That was just plain boring.

Who Cares Points:
Tony Bennett. I like him but his performance last night just made me feel sad for him.
Clive Davis. I want the time I spent listening to his speech back. What an annoying man!
Love Taylor but found his first performance more frantic than energetic. This still isn't what I want to see and hear from him. :(
The Golden Idol Awards. That was funny once. It should have been left out this year.
The crying girl. :headache:

WTH Points:
That Yellow alien being at the beginning of the show. Beam her out of here!
The former Idol winners singing all the LSD Beatle songs. Talk about a bad trip! :rotfl:
The fact that the top 12 got very little air time in comparison to last year. Guess that speaks volumes on the talent, or lack of, that we had.
Doing the Beatles songs and then not having Paul McCartney be the big star of the evening. :sad2:

High Points:
Smoky Robinson. Hard to believe he's 67.
Chris Sligh getting more voice time than some of the guys that finished ahead of him.
Gladys Knight singing with Melinda and LaKisha. That's one of the few times LaKisha actually looked like she was having fun.
Sanjaya and Joe Perry. I actually enjoyed this. :confused3 OK, I enjoyed Joe's guitar work more but Hair Boy was rockin! :rotfl:
Carrie's version of She's Leaving Home. She ought to record that.
The African Children's Choir. They were just too cute! :)
Blake's classy reaction to losing.

Interesting Sightings:
Ace got several camera moments. :thumbsup2
Constantine was also there in all his grunginess.
David Hasselhoff. Phooey, he didn't cry this year.

Worst of the night:Bette Midler. Actually this could go under most disappointing of the night. She ought to rest her voice.

Best of the night: Ruben and Jordin singing together. Record that ASAP!!!

I'm apathetic about Jordin winning and would have been the same if it was Blake. What I do hope is that next year is a whole lot better than this year was. ::yes::

Yeah and plenty of other winners managed to pull their final song off. So?

But they didn't have the crappiest song ever to try and pull off. ;) Kelly Clarkson actually sounded horrible through her final song. Between her crying and her voice being shot it did not sound good at all.

Blake and who ever the heck that guy was doing the number they did. I hit mute in record time. me too
Green Day. That was just plain boring. I wasn't impressed either

Who Cares Points:
Tony Bennett. I like him but his performance last night just made me feel sad for him. I'm going to disagree with this. I loved him. BUT my DD asked "is he famous or something?"
Clive Davis. I want the time I spent listening to his speech back. What an annoying man! I thought his whole speech was self indulgent...and a major dig at kelly, when he commented on the right producer and stuff making the difference....and on and on.
Love Taylor but found his first performance more frantic than energetic. This still isn't what I want to see and hear from him. :(
The Golden Idol Awards. That was funny once. It should have been left out this year. They should be ashamed of themselves over this.
The crying girl. :headache: She needs to get over it already!

WTH Points:
That Yellow alien being at the beginning of the show. Beam her out of here! We were trying to decide if she was a real she or a female impersonator.
The former Idol winners singing all the LSD Beatle songs. Talk about a bad trip! :rotfl:

I haven't figured out what was up with all that. :confused3

High Points:
Smoky Robinson. Hard to believe he's 67.
Chris Sligh getting more voice time than some of the guys that finished ahead of him. That is what I thought, they were really showcasing him. Maybe he has a deal with Clive already?
Gladys Knight singing with Melinda and LaKisha. That's one of the few times LaKisha actually looked like she was having fun. I loved that segment.
Sanjaya and Joe Perry. I actually enjoyed this. :confused3 OK, I enjoyed Joe's guitar work more but Hair Boy was rockin! :rotfl: Hair boy rocked out a bit too hard, he lost his stamina half way through.
Carrie's version of She's Leaving Home. She ought to record that.
The African Children's Choir. They were just too cute! :)
Blake's classy reaction to losing.

Carrie's song was beautiful, the kids were just too cute and Blake was a class act all the way through.

Interesting Sightings:
Ace got several camera moments. :thumbsup2 And I missed them! I am going to have to go and rewatch the whole thing to catch my glimpses.

I so agree with this, they were so good together!

Yeah and plenty of other winners managed to pull their final song off. So?

She pulled it off, didn't sound good, but it barely sounded good when she wasn't crying, that song stunk... Give the girl a break for goodness sake....

Anyone know what shows she and or Blake will be on in the coming future?

Blessed is the tivo. I recorded the show and fast forwarded through about 90% of the whole loser-fest, to the final judgement...pausing ONLY to watch Blake duet with Doug E. Fresh.

She's Leaving is a terrible terrible song for them to pick. It's about a woman sneaking out of her house to go have an abortion for heaven's sake!

The night blew...chunks...HARD.

As America's newest AND YOUNGEST American Idol, I expected a better performance than that to end the show last night. I am not a huge Melinda fan but I have no doubt that she would have delivered a much better performance.

I am also pretty sure that we will never agree......

Since my all time favorite Idol is Ruben, I just LOVED the song with Jordin! That made my night! I'd sit through the whole painful show again just to hear that one song. I LOVE Ruben

Last night was awful! Says a whole lot when the best performance of the night, most professional sounding, looking and delivery was done by your 3rd place finalist. To me letting her sing that song with those great singers was almost an insult to the winners. Neither one of them could have stood their ground with those 2. And to all the nay sayers I thought Melinda looked nicer than Jordin. And then to let Melinda and Lakisha stand and interact with Gladys-wow they were great. Also shows how good this group could have been if they had let them sing better songs than the crap they forced them to sing. I was disappointed that the final 12 didn't get to sing more, why give the past winners so much time, aren't they supposed to have been launched by now? Give this years guys a break and let us see them, if you want to see the old ones go to one of their shows.

My DH keeps reminding me that AI is and has been a popularity contest and nothing more.

Sadly it reminds me of High school, but just like high school let's see where miss most popular is 10 yrs from now compared to the actually talented and the "geeks" so to speak.

My thoughts on last night:

They did a very good job of hiding the strings that were supporting Smokey Robinson and Tony Bennett. Man-I thought they were going to collapse on stage.

I predict Taylor's new song will be on the charts for about one second. Boring. I in no way get all the Taylor love. :scared:

I thought Jordin and Reubun were really cute together. I used to really like that song when I was younger.

Green Day was awesome. Love the remake. :hippie:

The African Children's choir was beautiful. What sweet children-it put a tear in my eye.

The boy/girl medleys were nothing compared to last seasons. I was surprised not to hear the audience cheering when certain kicked off contestants did their solos. I remember last year's finale, the crowd going wild when Ace, Bucky, Elliott and Chris (even Chicken Little) would sing their solo parts. This years audience was pretty quiet.

The BEST part of the evening was Clive Davis praising of Daughtry's success!! I love the little jab about Taylor and Katherine's new songs "maybe" having a chance to be hit too. :lmao:
The way Clive was going on about Chris made me believe he was about to come out and perform again. Bummer he didnt.

Well, another season over. Cant believe we have to wait all the way to January to this again.

Which song is about an abortion? Midnight train to Georgia?

I didn't waste my time...I mean I didn't watch last night. But I hear that Jordin won. How old is she?

I guess I'm in the minority here as I liked the show last night.

Thought Green Day was AWESOME!!!

Loved Sanjaya and Joe Perry - cool!!

I even loved Kelly Clarkson' new song and thought she sounded very good. Carrie too was very good - congrats on selling 6 million CD's - WOW!!

Thought Blake was so much better than Doug E. Fresh. :)

Loved seeing all the past IDOL winners on stage.

No surprise at the end - CONGRATS to JORDIN!! She really deserved to win.

See ya'll next year!!

I think they meant the Beatles song, "She's Leaving Home".

Ah, okay. That makes more sense. I think those are just speculative meanings though. The Beatles have been interpreted in many, many ways.
