American Idol Season 6: The Official Thread Part 3

That dress looked way too old for a 17yo IMO.

I'm just glad it's over.... I agree with the collective *yawn*....

I really like Blake, I think he is a real gentleman. The way he kissed her hand while they were waiting and his response when she won. He did the same thing when he was in the bottom 2 with Lakesha, he had his arm around her and was just holding her. He seems like a nice guy, he should be happy he lost and won't have to sing that horrible song again. That last dress Jordan wore has to go too, it looked like a tent on her! Well at least its all over and now I can have my Tuesday and Wednesday nights back!

As always, it is only 7:15 pm here on west coast. I cheated myself on finding out the easy way who won. Jordin eh? and the winning song stunk eh? hummmm show running over by 10 + min.? gosh. Awww, I could tell Blake was just so cool with where he was at in the first place. He will do well I hope and believe. I love him, but I suppose Jordin is the proper fit as the winner.

Melinda was fantastic.

I can't think of much else that was. Not Bette Midler, I felt bad for that. Sanjaya was fun, I don't like those weird awards nor the Beatles songs. I'd like to have less celebrity and more of the idols who had been voted off.

When Bette Midler was announced I made a big deal about it, because I've seen her live a few times and she really is good. Well, she wasn't tonight! :sad2:

Taylor Hicks on the other hand, was awesome! So was Green Day. I do agree though - it was fun seeing those that had been on past shows, and I could have done with a little less of the celebrities.

And where was Katherine McPhee? :confused3

The highlight of the night for me was the Jordin/Ruben duet - fantastic!

Bette sounded terrible....wonder if her Las Vegas show will be successful?

I really liked Taylor's new song...I hope it does well.

I thought Kelly sounded like she was screaming through her songs.:confused3

I've never been a fan of Carrie but I love her rendition of "I'll stand by you".

The African choir is a joy to watch - I'd love to see them in concert.

All in all I agree this season was just ho-hum. Melinda was amazing and I think she'll be very successful in her career.

Bring on So You Think You Can Dance!!!!!!!!

When they show the New York auditions watch for a dancer with the first name of Neil. (he has blonde hair).

He danced at the same studio as my DD's and was on the senior compition team when my kids were on the lower level team. It seems funny to say we know someone that will be on a TV show. He is an amazing dancer.

I have to work until 11:30 tomorrow night so my kids will be taping it for me.

Can't believe she is taking over for Celine at Ceasars Palace. You would have to pay me to go to listen Midler in Vegas. And people will pay $200+ a seat to hear her?????:sad2:

Some quick thoughts on the finale --

Why the #@^% did Sanjaya get to sing? LaKisha, Chris, and Phil all do better than him and yet Idol brings out the joker and has him sing an awful song? Does Idol realize that he makes the show a joke? I guess they don't care -- which is obvious since they filled the night with the awful auditioners.

I can't believe that I liked Taylor's song "Heaven Knows"...but then he sang in that Beatles medley and I realized why he's not my favorite.

I was a little irritated that we couldn't see all the Idols crowd around the winner and congratulate her. They went overtime, but we can't see the excitement these seemingly genuine friends (this season more than ever) feel towards Jordin?

Also, I wanted the gospel choir to come out at the end! The gospel choir is the Idol season finale for me! That along with the fire/sparks (how appropriate for Jordin ;)) during the final song.

Oh, well. The finale was boring. Really, not a thing was exciting tonight. No big surprise guests. I was waiting for Paul McCartney to come out at the end of the Beatles medley -- what was the point of that medley if Paul -- or at the very least Ringo ;) -- wasn't going to come out and sing? Who cared about that? What a time waster!

Yeah Jordin.....proud of you girl...

loved seeing Rubeun and Taylor my 2 favorte Idol winners with Carrie right behind them. Just missed Kellie Pickler....oh well

As I said early the Blake/ Doug E Fresh duo was great I really like Blake doing that. He wasnt trying to sing a did what he did best. good job AI and Blake for doing that. that right there changed my 10 year old opinion. When he got home from school he said Jordin needs to win cause she can sing and Blake cant. I let him stay up and watch that and he said maybe Blake needs to win. I also told him I have some Doug E Fresh Cds in my room that he can listen too. He loves Rap which is cool so do I. I have him hooked on LL cool J right now. but Bravo to Blake for that.

Happy Jordin won and this season ended alot better than it started. Here is hoping season 7 can top season 5.

Our local Fox news channel guy was in the audience tonight. He reported that the Green Day segment was taped yesterday because at the last minute they couldn't be there tonight. They wanted a big finale so just yesterday they came up with the Sgt. Pepper thing.

All I can say is.....

That was so totally BORING!! Sunjaya singing....can't believe that one! Come on! Yes, Phil should have sang.

Can't believe I wasted my time!!

Wow, that was the worst finale EVER! I fastforwarded through every single performance except Carrie and Bette. The only reason I didn't FF Bette, was because my mouth was hung open in shock. I love Bette and couldn't believe how horrible she sounded!

The "awards" part was a disgrace. They hit an all time low with that one. I was again horrified and sat gape mouthed as they gave that guy his own "bush baby". I felt that was incredibly cruel and uncalled for. The lady in yellow did a good job of making a fool of herself. AI didn't have to do it. The second guy seemed a little put off but played along. I hope they catch hell for doing that and won't do that again next year.

I had to giggle to myself when Clive was praising Daughtery. I knew there were a few here that had to be fuming and ready to throw things at the TV.

Oh yeah, what was with that little jump/skip thing Kelly was doing during St. Pepper?????? Yipes!

Sounds like I did the right thing by only watching the last 15 minutes.:thumbsup2 ;)

Sanjaya sang? Well, just for comedy's sake, I might have to roll the DVR and check that out.

Jordin looked beautiful during the results - I'm very proud of her.:)

And Blake? He's got a career ahead of him - I don't doubt that for a minute. Good for him.:cool1:

Well count me in with anyone who missed it because of TIVO!

I watched Lost (and it was goooooooood - so worth it), but when I went to watch just the end to see who won on American Idol, I saw that it cut off at 2 hours and, oh well.

I think Jordin's last song last night was probably one of the worst performances of the season.

As I said early the Blake/ Doug E Fresh duo was great I really like Blake doing that. He wasnt trying to sing a did what he did best.

I agree, I thought this was an awesome performance. I like Blake much more than I like Jordan just because I find him much more entertaining and unique, but Tuesday night's final song made it clear that the treacly tunes that will be on the idol winner's first album would not be appropriate for him. look how much better off Daughtry is doing his own thing - can you imagine him singing that song either? I look forward to Blake's record for sure.
I like Sanjaya fine, but that song with Joe Perry was a mess. I mean Joe Perry, come on! What were you thinking? Maybe his kid is a Sanjaya fan or something.
Melinda's duet was great also, and I loved seeing all the former idols (sans Fantasia) on stage. Neato!
