American Idol Season 6: The Official Thread Part 3

I haven't tried yet..I usually wait till later in the night.

A little OT...did you guys see the commercial for "So You Think You Can Dance"? I actually know one of the dancers! He was in the commercial..towards the end..blondish hair doing a leap type move. He danced at the same studio as my daughters. They were on a lower level competition team and he was on the top team. He is an amazing dancer.

i can't wait until that show starts. it's so much better than Idol.

How many times can we vote per phone line?? I can't find it on the Idol website.

He wouldn't have looked half bad if he left the line a little thinner. I know a 5 year old that could have put it on better!

:rotfl: We all know someone applied that for him. I'm just trying to figure out how you sell a man on eyeshadow and eyeliner. "No, really, Chris, really...this will look awesome. Really, it will. I promise." :lmao:

I loved Daughtry last year and I still love him even though he is on my XM every 2 mins.
I can't wait to hear some Taylor Hicks on there. Is that AI contract about over? :rolleyes1

And that last song? Ugh. What a horrid song. BUT, I probably would not have realized it was the same song if DD hadn't told me it was. Blake did a terrible job with it. At least Jordin could make it sound like something. And again, she is absolutely one of the most beautiful girls I have ever seen. And a voice that is incredible (for a 17 year old ;) )

:rotfl: To be a fly on that wall!

What I should have said was "The makeup artist should have left that line a little thinner".

I got through about 8 times for Blake and then got a perpetual busy signal. I'll try again later.

To Chris' make-up artist: Step away from the eyeliner!
Okay compared to past idol singles this is one of the better ones.
Isn't that a sad statement about the quality of these songs. I was hoping that because they had made a contest out of it, we would get something better this year. Not so much.
i bet they had much better songs, but they gave Blake that one because they figured "Well, he'll do crap with it" because i don't think they want Blake to win. i mean, look at Taylor's song last year compared to Katherine's. same thing.
Last year, didn't Katherine and Taylor each sing a different song? That seemed to make more sense.
And can I just say that the crying at the end only served to annoy me??
It didn't sit well with me either. It seemed affected to me.
yeah yeah...keep talkin' Simon. you also said Taylor would never make it past the Hollywood round, and that Melinda would be in the final. see how many times you're right.
Well, he also said Sundance Head would be a finalist.

Tonight was a disappointment all around, IMO. The only performance I enjoyed was You Give Love A Bad Name.

How many times can we vote per phone line?? I can't find it on the Idol website.

As many as you feel like. That is my big gripe with this is that there should be a limited number of votes per line, but they won't do that becuase then they could say "54 million votes"- it would be like "5 million votes"!

I got in 10 calls just before 9:00p for Jordin before the lines got bogged down. Now nothing. I'll wait and try again later.

She was hands down the better singer tonight. I had a bet with my DD about Blake's and Jordin's original songs; I thought they were different, DD said they were the same. I lost the bet. I couldn't believe they were the same song.

It was a crappy song (I don't think there's been a good one since Kelly's "A Moment like This") but at least Jordin made it sound half way decent.

Go Jordin! :woohoo:

wait....they didn't sing the same song tonight. they both sang different songs.

yeah i remember when he said Sundance was "Amazing" and i had this look on my face :scared1: and i really think my hair did stand on end.

seriously!? i thought it was a completley different song! how awful. Blake's version was a little more my speed i guess because i was bored with Jordin's.

I don't really understand the jokes about Jordin crying :confused3

I can't imagine the simple relief that Jordin must be feeling that she made it to that incredible stage and to be in that position.

I think you are all being way too hard on her for that. Yeah the song stunk but the words I'm sure meant quite a bit. Hell I'd have thought the same thing about Blake if he'd been emotional and I've never been one of his fans.

Pixie Dust :wizard: and votes for Jordin!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

As much as I don't like the beat boxing in the "singing" competition.... You Give Love A Bad Name was the only memorable song this evening. Other than Jordin's tears....

ho hum.... BORING....

And the only other memorable thing was learning for the first time that Jordin was 17! Who knew?:)

They were the same song. I think it is right that they sing the same song. They should be able to put their own twist and arrangement to the song but I think it should be the same.

As many times as you can get through.

Go Jordin! :woohoo:

I just listened to both versions again..cause we taped it for DD #2. Blake was better than I thought...the background singers should have shut up when he was singing...their voices do not compliment his voice at all.

Hard to believe but it was actually the same awful song, This Is My Now.

oh my god that's just wrong....so horribly wrong.

i still liked Blake's version better, as it is.

i can't believe it was the same song! see....that's why i didn't know...because DH2B turned it halfway thru Jordin's song and i didn't really listen to the lyrics.

I like the song - and was suprised that they said Scott Krippayne was one of the co-writers (he's been a very popular CCM singer for years).

Me either. When I saw her start to get emotional my first thought was she probably looked at her parents and got a bit overwhelmed with emotion. Between the words having meaning (after all they have been told repeatedly to "feel" the words) and just relief that the night is over and what it could mean for her if she wins..heck I'm almost 50 and it would reduce me to tears.

Great! Well I've voted 3 times so far :rotfl:

Yeah, I think if the background singers were quieter he would have been better off.
