I love the original version of "Wishing on a Star" & I have never heard Beyonces version. Like Simon, I liked the song, just not that jazz arrangement behind it. Putting the music aside, I thought vocally, she was great.

Blake - I never liked Roxanne, but I thought he was awful doing it! He made the song even more worse & much less tolerable to listen to!!

Melinda I thought she did great with this song.

now...Randy of all people....picks a Whitney Houston song!? isn't he always the one saying "yo, you ain't no Whitney, dawg!"!?!?!?


and Randy...really.....enough with the name-dropping. we've heard it for like 6 seasons now......it's old.

and this song is one of Whitney's not-so-great songs...IMO. there's so many other Whitney songs that are better than this.

Thisi is a favorite song of mine. I really love the Four Tops version. I'm glad Melinda did not over sing it.

For this round, I thought all three contestants did fine, but I give the edge to Melinda. Her performance was the most consistent thus far. Blake had some trouble spots in his song, and I adore Jordidn but I thought Wishing on a Star was quite good but not fantastic.

I just don't know how anyone can beat Melinda strictly from a vocal standpoint.

I like the other two better but I think Melinda is by far the most talented. By leaps and bounds. As much as I would like to see Blake win the whole thing, I think I might feel undeserved simply because Melinda has that knock out voice. She just sort of bores me tho....is it because she is always so flawless? I can't figure out what it is that I don't quite like about her - its not her personality, because she seems like such a nice person. Maybe its song choice - I hate Whitney Houston and those pop diva songs. Melinda does a lot of those type of songs, so maybe thats it. Either way, while Melinda can sing circles around Blake, I was captivated by Blake's performance. I got on the DIS as soon as Melinda started singing.

there was one high note that she didn't even hit and they didn't call her on it, i was kind of surprised.

really now.....this is the top 3......and all the judges could come up with were these 3 songs? i mean, yeah like i said, i love Roxanne.....but there's better songs that could have been picked.

I like a few things by the Police & by Sting - this one song, to me, is just nails on a chalkboard. I could never get passed the lead vocals to even listen to the music. I am one who even though I may not like a song, can still appreciate the artists abilities (ex: Jimmy Hendrix: I don't care for the singing, but I can listen to his guitar playing & I really appreciate what he has done for music). Roxanne is one of the few songs I just can't "do" or find a way to appreciate!

Ewww, I hate that song. Good performance by Jordin tho. I hated that song when it was new, I sure don't want to hear it 20/30 years later. They really need to give these young people more contemporary songs to sing.
