Brian Dunkleman: co-host first year of Idol along with Seacrest.
Thank you. I only started watching in Season 4 so there's no way I'd know that one!

Has anyone else heard that both Taylor and Katherine will be given recording contracts (automatically, this year, whereas in previous years they've offered recording contracts to the second-place singer, only when they wanted to)?

Yea I heard that too. Which is the reason that I'm just happy with final 2. Although since last week I'm feeling a little more greedy and competitive like I want the dude to take it all. But either way, they're both on equal ground now, professionally. They will release entirely different kinds of music for completely different audiences, so there is room for them both out there. This week should just be plain old fun.

Elton John??? I can see the other big names just being video clips from their performances but since Elton John wasn't on the show this season...????

I did hear a rumour a while ago about Taylor singing with Elton John. Wouldn't that be something?!?!?!!?
Interestingly enough, on the AI Extra when Chris was eliminated they asked Chris what artist he'd like to record with and he chose Elton John. I know they've intimated that Chris would be singing with Live but maybe Elton John will sing with Chris?? :confused3 Taylor would be the more logical choice though.

To be clear: I didn't hear that they'd be PAID the same. :) I suspect that the second-place singer will be under contract for a lot less, maybe less than half...

I heard that about Chris too. That if he could choose any "star" to work with, he would choose Elton John.

Wednesday is looking more and more interesting all the time!

Ok, but that matters to me....not at all. I just want my grubby little hands on some CDs and concert tickets. Eventually even.

Perhaps "equal" was the wrong word to use. Maybe..."similar." Who cares - we needed some rockin new music and we got Chris-Kat-Taylor, at least. I'm happy.

Great group, I laughed out loud when I saw Daniel Powter's name, wonder if he'll sing "Bad Day" personally to the one voted off the island??? :rotfl2:

As for Brian Dunkleman, what is WORSE than NOT being the host of the biggest talent competition in the world after being on the first year? Somehow I keep thinking that the over exposed Mr. Seacrest had something to do with that... :rolleyes1

Oh, and I MUST add, my 13yo son LOVES TAYLOR! And hates American Idol! :lmao:

Taylor: The new single he'll be performing is "Do I Make You Proud" written by Tracy Ackerman, Andrew John Watkins and Paul David Wilson.
Kat: The new single she'll perform is called, "My Destiny" written by Hanne Sorvaag.

Thank goodness they finally realized that two artists who sing two different styles of music shouldn't sing the same song! :)

Just in case you missed his performance on the Ellen DeGenerous Show...

Chris Daughtry

I don't think there's any question that this 4th Place Finisher will become a star. :thumbsup2

I think Clay and Ruben sang two different songs but I could be mistaken.

Did anyone see the A&E Biography on Randy Jackson last night? OMG...check out his hair and "fashion sense" from his days as the bass player for Journey. Woah, dog...like Flock of Seagulls much? DH was a little miffed though. He wondered what Randy did in Journey and was disappointed that he was the bassist, because as HE puts it "The bass isn't a REAL guitar". SIGH...sometimes DH can be so difficult. Hey, Randy sang too. Does that count?

I have heard a lot of rumours that Taylor is going to sing Georgia on my Mind. I have also heard that Kat is doing the Black Horse and Cherry Tree.

I think those are excellent choices! Can't wait until tonight :thumbsup2

hehehe..Randy, you so crazy!

I thought I had posted it before but I couldn't find the post (computer must've eaten it). My birthday is in August but DH gave me my gift early. On Saturday on our way to see Poseidon, I was lamenting that I was never going to get to see AI in concert. then DH opened his glovebox and whipped out his receipt for two tix to the August 2 show in Charlotte, NC!!!!!! How I love that man! He HAD to tell me now otherwise I tend to fill up my schedule with things for work. I am so ecstatic. Plus lots of cool restaurants near the Bobcats Arena to eat at before hand. Seats are great too! Now I can scream I LOVE YOU CHRIS along with 30,000 other people, and my hubbie will think it's for him!

Check out the "Cast List" that TV Guide publishes for the May 24 American Idol Finale. Does anything stand out to you? One name really got my attention:

Ace Young
Andrea Bocelli
Barry Manilow
Bo Bice
Brian Dunkleman
Bucky Covington
Carrie Underwood
Chris Daughtry
Clive Davis
Daniel Powter
Elliott Yamin
Elton John
Katharine McPhee
Kellie Pickler
Kenny Rogers
Kevin Covais
Kristin Holt
Lisa Marie Presley
Lisa Tucker
Mandisa
Paris Bennett
Priscilla Presley
Rod Stewart
Ryan Seacrest
Shakira
Stevie Wonder
Tamika
Tamyra Gray
Taylor Hicks
Tommy Mottola
Wyclef Jean

Are all these people going to be there or will some of them just be shown in recaps of previous performances/meetings with celebs? I just can't imagine that all those famous singers are going to be on the same show.

I am listening to the new AI CD now. Boy do I miss Mandisa! She went home way too early.
