American Idol Season 13 Official Thread

I was just watching something on one of the music channels where they were saying that females just aren't being played on country radio right now. It's all "ball cap and beer drinking" that is popular now and that is what the listeners want. I wonder how Carrie Underwood would have done if she came out NOW. I actually don't miss the fact that I do not have a radio in my car because I don't think I would like what they play right now. When I drive my husbands car I put it on. In a 5 1/2 drive to Columbus I hear the same 20 songs over and over again on multiple stations. A lot of them sound exactly the same and don't impress me at all.

It honestly is that, the term for the popular music on country right now out of this area is "bro-country" and it's getting insane. I don't think she would of done well, I truly don't. There are only two strong females even now left in country, Carrie and Miranda. Taylor is struggling on country charts with this past album. I'm stuck listening to the radio now since my ipod video finally died. We have one station that's not to bad and plays newer artists thankfully.

Gave up on Idol several seasons ago and only tuned in this year because I love Harry Connick Jr. I was really excited during the audition rounds but have been underwhelmed since we went to the live shows.

I know he sang out of tune every week, but I really loved CJ. LOL He would have been a lousy Idol winner though and I knew he didn't have a chance, but I would go see his show, in tune or not. I always felt a connection to his performance.

Of the gang that is left, I hope Jena, Alex or Sam wins. Caleb is fabulous at what he does but it is just not my style. I started FF through his performances every week about 4 weeks ago as I just don't care for him.

Jessica has a great voice but grates on my last nerve. She always seems annoyed or displeased or something? And she is uncomfortable to watch on stage.

I think Alex is super talented but he is a little sleepy. Same with Sam. I actually like Sam better when I just listen to him sing and don't watch his baby face. LOL I really like the sound of his voice.

Jena has such a unique voice that I think I am rooting for her. I don't always like her performances or her song choices but I can't deny her talent.

Also, I LOVE the judges this season. Love. Randy's role is useless and I suspect he will be gone if the show survives for another season.

I just watched this weeks show today, and after reading all your comments needed to ask Does Alex remind anyone else of Bob Dylan, without the being fried on drugs and sounding like Bullwinkle?

Anyway, I love Alex for his Artistry. I think he has a ton of potential in the industry. I also think he is a good writer and arranger.

I love Jessica if I close my eyes and just listen. I think he judges have been right on with that issue these last two weeks. If she can figure out how to connect and not look so fake (for lack of a better word) when performing, she could do well.

While I enjoy Caleb, it is solely due to him being the best performer of the bunch. He really knows how to connect and let go on stage. As for his signing and arraigning, it is just okay. I think he is shining this year due to being so much better on stage then the rest, And I love that he just has so much fun.

Jena is also full of potential, and has grown on me throughout the season. I also think she has shown the most growth. With the right songs, I think she can go far.

Sam, while cute, is just okay. He can be next to go in my opinion. Poor kid is so uncomfortable with the role of heart throb that has been tossed his way, I actually feel bad for him. I think he needed a few years of seasoning and experience before being a real contender.

...while Caleb is my absolute FAVE, I think that Gena/Jena is more 'pop', and therefore, more 'marketable'. For that, I think she may pull it off...
