You'd think someone who has made such a big deal about how hard she has worked as a "struggling singer-songwriter" would know not to act happy while singing a song about a friend's death.

And weren't they actually coached on feeling the song they were singing and NOT smiling during inappropriate moments?

After DW caught up, we both felt Emily was pretty good - really the only one worth keeping if this had been the first time we'd seen any of these girls.

On MK, our TV speakers must be out of sync with everyone else's. in a night of bad performances, she stood out as easily the worst - one sour note after another. Thought her solo performance in Hollywood week was a dud, too - though better than last night. Everyone else seemed to love it though

Majesty - Not exactly happy with her. She sounded a bit shrill.

Kristen - Bit flat. And no one but Adele should sing Adele songs.

Brianna - I liked her during the audition rounds. But that song she sang….YIKES!

Gina (not Jena) - S-C-R-E-A-M. Probably not a good song for her.

Bria - Did not like her tonight at all.

Marielle - She made me look up tonight. Not necessarily in a good way. She was flat! I was only comparing her to Katy P and that’s not a good thing.

Jessica - Her voice sounded okay; but her performance left a lot to be desired.

Emily - Ooh La La indeed.

MK - Probably the pick of the night for me.

Malaya - Inconsistent pitch. Perfect choice to round out a pretty ordinary night from the girls.


Yeah. Here’s hoping for a better set of boy singers tomorrow.

I have come up with a theory to explain last night. I understand that the five singers that we did not get to hear instead of some of the real stinkers on stage were selected based on Randy Jackson's boot camp. I think that Randy is mad at being cut from the judging panel and has decided to sabotage the show. If we have more of the same tonight with the guys, I will think he is totally out of touch with what America wants to hear or he really is trying to kill the show. Maybe it is both.

He IS my favorite, I hope he doesn't disappoint me like the girls did..

Lots of what they were coached on was lost on that run thru the hallway to the stage. How they could have them literally peeing in their pants hoping to hear their name called and then put on a great performance is beyond me...???

Okay, if "I" were in charge, it'd go like this:

Top 5 girls and top 5 guys from this week advance straight to the first week of March.
Bottom 5 of each square off against the leftovers next week.
Top 5 of each from that group moves on to first week of March.
Bottom 5 of each from next week go home.
Judges can grab wildcards from the losers at this point if they wish, but they'd be bottom dwellers right from the start.

Man, oh man, what a hot mess that was last night. Such a bunch of cookie cutter singers. Not one of them wowed me. So disappointed with the ones they cut.

I don't tend to love the female singers anyways but usually there is at least one who has some star power.

That is my thought...8 of the 10 were interchangeable. MK..different voice, Malaya..just bad.
