someone on MJ's blog wrote up the quotes from the three boys:

When Ryan asks what went wrong, Burnell says, “I did what I was supposed to do. I ain’t throwing anybody under the bus, but this is a competition. owns up to screwing up. Devin says “I learned my parts. I tried saving a couple of people. I knew MY part. I tried to save a couple of people.” Lazaro, once again, is full of excuses. “I didn’t know the words that well.”

Lazaro also said "Sorry Dad" to Ryan's dad for ruining one of his favorite songs

I think Amber or Lazaro were the worst tonight. I have a bad feeling the judges would use the save on either of them

I would hope they would keep their save for someone like Candice or Angie. I think they've realized Lazaro sucks, but don't want to appear mean enough to admit it. I really wish Simon would drop in now.

I was excited to see Smokey Robinson was the mentor tonight. He seems to take time with the contestants and his feedback was something specific that could be used. I actually got to hear Smokey Robinson perform with the Nashville Symphony a few weeks ago. It was a real treat to hear him perform in the symphony hall with all of those strings to accompany him. Great concert.

Candice was very good but I did not care for the arrangement. Smokey said that the powers that ran Motown overruled a bluesy version of this song in favor of Marvin Gaye's version so why would you go against the genius of Motown and sing a bluesy version? I don't get it.

Lazaro was better than last week but still not good.

Janelle was very good. Different arrangement but it really worked with her style.

Devin was not good and I didn't think he was with the music at all. Adam Lambert's version of this song was one of my very favorite AI performances ever and Devin was so bad compared to him.

Burnell was just OK but at least he was better than the other guys. He at least didn't sing in that strange low voice tonight.

I have never been a fan of Angie's and tonight was just bad.

I didn't care for Amber at all. I don't know what the judges are hearing.

Kree was good as usual but I wasn't overwhelmed.

I am seriously distracted by those extreme high heals those girls are wearing. I keep worrying that one of them is going to fall and twist an ankle.

:thumbsup2 I agree, except that I didn't hear Angie sing last night (had to take a phone call).

My top three were Candice, Kree and Janelle.

Bottom three were Lazaro, Devin and Burnelle. While I thought Devin was the best out of the three boys left, he still wasn't anywhere near as strong as the girls.

Wow, that show was so nasty I had to take a bath afterwards...

The obvious disdain the judges have for Nicki :rolleyes2:bride::rolleyes1:rolleyes2
the fake responses to the singers,
the nastiness between the "boys" and Burnell throwing "someone under the bus" :car:
Nicki asking a 73yo man of distinction to be her "sugar daddy",
Angie forgetting her words and saying "shop" over and over to a mechanical dance, :cool1:
Amber being told she was the BEST of the night :lmao:and finally Nicki's nice/nasty "compliment" to Kree... :headache:

ya THINK this show has completely...

JUMPED the SHARK???? :smokin:

I don't often agree with Nicki, but she was right about the boy trio. It was like a bad hollywood week performance.

I can't figure Angie out. I certainly think she has talent, but I keep thinking she'd do better in musical theater. Maybe she's broadway bound, someday.

I'm not sure about Amber, either, future wise.

Janelle will probably do well, and I enjoy her music.

I love Candice and Cree. They are just amazing! Those two, I could so see them touring and having great careers as solo artists! :thumbsup2

Totally agree. Amber, I guess, has the "look" they think is marketable, but she has a very immature tone and sounds like a high school play actress. Angie... well, she peeked on the piano before the top 10 was announced. Someone PLEASE tell her to sit down or stand still, it worked for Carrie whatshername.

Candice and Cree, though not having the "look" are true singers. Close your eyes while listening to them and you can hear them on the radio or on a cd. Kelly Clarkson didn't have that marketable pop look either but she made it on her mad talent... and I think these two can do it, too.

lol. Yes

Rumored theme for next week is rock but there's a catch...no ballads

That should be interesting. I can't imagine most of this group singing rock. It will probably all sound like slowed down, bluesy or jazzy versions of rock songs. AI hand picks a group of ballad singers who have sang very rarely anything uptempo and then expects them to sing rock. We can only hope someone breaks out of the boring ballad mold.

The show would be good I think if they got rid of the rude one. I think Mariah would be better if it wasn't for her.

Devin might get lucky and have a career in Spanish music.

Burnell/Lazarro not sure I see them having a career afterwards.

Candice could do very well in maybe R&B type music.

Kree and Janelle in country/blues type music.

Amber I'm unsure.

Angie maybe Christian music, but she's theatrical too so maybe even Broadway.

And the boys spoke about the trainwreck they called a performance: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/idol-worship/american-idol-group-number-was-431510

It should be interesting, I'm wondering if they mean no ballads meaning no even slowing down.

My question is who do they consider rock for the contestants choosing?

I agree!

I seem to remember maybe Mariah? mentioning Devin might have a future internationally. Makes sense.

I think tonight may be interesting. If Lazaro stays and someone who can really sing (and remember lyrics) goes, will the judges save? Seems like it may be too early to use it, but who knows?
For the record, I think Lazaro is very likable, I just believe he's way out of his class, talent wise.

I think it would depend on who it was...if it's one of the girls I can see them hands down using it. One of the guys not a chance in pooey! The boys and Amber are no where near the same league vocally as the others.
