Howdy y'all. Have to say, the discussions here are always entertaining.

Just caught up with last week and noticed one thing that maybe you've discussed and I just missed. But is it just me, or does Hollie seem to lack any sense of musicality to her movement? Her dance/movement has always seemed awkward, but in that group number it just seemed worse than usual.

Poor girl was cursed with white girl rhythm :p That is her main problem. Her voice is beautiful, as good if not better than Jessica's, but she can't move. I think she connects better to the song from an emotional standpoint, but she just can't move her body. One of the most stiff competitors to date, which is a shame since there are many many singers who don't dance. If I were listening to her on the radio I would think she is terrific. She could take some lessons from Skylar, who knows how to move her body to the music and connect with both the camera and the audience, but her voice is nowhere near as powerful as Hollie's, imo.

I have been clueless about the background of this years performers so I was surprised to learn that Jessica Sanchez had competed on Americas Got Talent. I know it was five years ago but it just don't seem like AI would want their winner to be someone who competed and lost on another show, especially one that doesn't have the position or popularity that AI holds. It cheapens the brand that AI has built. Also doesn't AI have rules that prevent someone that appears on their own show from competing again? Why then someone from a competing show?

Cheapens the brand?

Sorry, they can't get much cheaper than the fakeness they portrayed last week and those judges.

I did know she was on AGT and it turned me off of her from the start. This is why I keep calling her a Plant.

AI has had people on who had record contracts with people on the show (Carly Smithson), people who were already friends of the producers and people who are truly established. So much for their finding new stars amongst the many people who come to the auditions.

I watch for the entertainment now. If I believed in their process, which I do not, I'd be insulted. I choose to believe it's pure entertainment so I can watch without throwing a shoe at the TV. :cool2:

You are right about all of the plants and contestants with prior connections. I am used to that. But having a contestant who lost on a much less popular show just seems like a new low.

It is probably hard to think of AI getting cheaper than it is but it just doesn't seem like a good idea to go from the top rated show on TV to using contestants who were cut from a summer replacement talent show.

I didn't know she was an AGT reject - figures.

She's a good singer, I'll give her that. But the "diva-tude" she has going on turns me OFF - as well as many of my friends/family back in our hometown of SD. My cousin works with an immediate family member who asks (more like demands) everyone point blank every-Thurs-morn if they voted for her. They can't staaaaaand her. Not surprised to see her in the bottom.

frankly, she is one of the ones i think would do terribly with Queen. i could see her trying "Somebody to Love," but i still think it would be terrible.

I think so too, which is why I think the whole *save* farce had to take place when it did, so now the judge are off the hook having to save her in a week where she is gonna tank (if they do Queen)
I'm sure we look exactly alike too. :crazy2::crazy2:

Hey! I resemble that remark!

Boy do I know what you mean.. had the same situation here last season as Haley Rheinhart was shoved down our throats :rolleyes2 thing is her 'tude preceeded her around here, not too many were bummed when she was voted off.

I think the idea that Idol is a chance for the unknowns to get their big chance at stardom no longer applies, though they try to make it seem that way. I like how the Voice is open about giving people who have worked very hard in the industry a chance at their big break. Idol tries to hide that fact so we think the winner was just like one of us. Well, I'm not fooled.

Theme alert!!!!

The Top 7 will perform two songs each. One , a Billboard #1 hit from 2000 to 2012. The other a “soul” song from a previous decade.

I have long gotten used to the fact that the contestants on AI are not unknowns. But it seems to me to be an entirely different thing when their favorite to win competed and lost on another networks talent show. And that show is nowhere as popular as AI. I mean, come on, Howard Stern is one of their judges. And I think the winner of the year that Jessica lost was a ventriloquist. That just isn't very impressive.

I know that if I were doing ads for Americas Got Talent that I would start highlighting that that 'other singer realty show' is using people who couldn't cut it on our show. I can just hear Howard Stern doing the ad.

If they're ANYTHING like those nuts on FB or the AI site... your POOOOR cousin! :guilty:

The Filipino community has really rallied behind her.. and calls all Americans racists and jealous. WAY to get us on her side.

Of course it's ok to post here! :welcome:

Thanks for the kind welcome, FINFAN. :cool1:

People magazine has a collector's edition out of American Idol Where are they now and has the past 10 season contestants in it.

mandy200587,

I'll have to keep an eye out for that. Along those same lines,(past contestants) I attended a private concert with Matt Giraud (season 8) last month. What a treat!

I don't remember him having the opportunity to play the piano very often when he was on the show. That guy is fantastic on the piano! He's still singing, too, sounds great. :thumbsup2

Hey Gwynne! The magazine should be out I found it at Kroger, it's about 12 bucks but it's a good read.

Two will go home this week

Actually I was FINE until last week! Did anyone see the YouTube TMZ call to to Lythgoe? What a sack of hooey. :sad2: Harvey totally outed his "fiasco" of a save and he tried to convince him it was NOT preplanned. popcorn::
