American Idol: Season 10 PART III

It was Katherine McPhee and Taylor Hicks. Chris Daughtry was the third and he was let go, leaving Katherine and Taylor for the finale. And where is Taylor Hicks now? soul patrol. blah. yeah, I didn't like him at all.

Chris was voted off 4th. Elliot Yamin was in the final three.

Some articles about last night:

Interesting one by Elliot Yamin:

Thanks for the links. I've only read Elliot's so far but I found this to be interesting. "The night that Casey got saved, they invited me, Mikalah Gordon, Carly Smithson and Michael Johns to give the kids advice on what to expect on tour and in this business. They were supposed to air it and never did, but it was really cool. I had a good time talking to Scotty and Lauren, who was really sweet. The best of luck to them, it’s another season in the books."

I was thinking the same. That stupid goat-boy stuck around and Chris got the boot. Injustice indeed.

Haley looked more than shocked...she looked hateful (IMO). She never snapped out of it to congratulate the others until after her swan song and even then snubbed Lauren again.

What others saw may differ.

It always depends on what you feel about the person in the first place. I never saw hateful in her, just disappointment. I don't see the adorableness in the final two like you all do, either. :scared:

Hold on thar...I don't think Lauren or Scotty are adorable! :lmao:

I find them to be better than Haley (and still less than James ;) )

I thought Haley looked more like she'd been hit in the gut than hateful. I don't see any of this hatefulness but then I am ambivalent towards this year. I saw just as much Lauren not being a very nice winner and jumping up and down and clapping in Haley's face and then not even looking at her when they had a group hug at the end.

Edited to say that Haley kinda reminds me of Carrie after she was announced prom queen just after the blood dropped. lol

At least we agree on SOMETHING! :lmao:

THIS is AMERICAN IDOL...????

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I like Scotty's hair in this picture much better. ;)

Now the question is, will he or won't he honor Jennifer's request to buzz his hair for next week?:happytv:

Edited to add... You're amazing! I could have used your help with past Christmas when I was trying to get a picture of my girls all smiling to send with my cards. We took a million pictures on DD's Make A Wish trip to Hawaii and wouldn't you know that picture with her smiling the best is one where my DD(20yo) was giving me an attitude and had a nasty look. I threatened to send it anyway ;) but opted for one where the two older girls were smiling and the youngest was at least looking at the camera.

I think they made an agreement that he would if she would.

Nigel looks pretty good in that picture!!!

That describes it exactly. :thumbsup2 And before the results, she actually reached over to give Lauren a hug. Of course, there could have been an underlying sinister motive.......;)

OMG! Carrie!! :rotfl2: She really doesn look like Carrie in that scene. Thanks for the laugh!

I just watched the results again, and I do agree that Haley has attitude - just not attitude in the way she has been described. She definitely had to compose herself, which she did in style. She owned the stage! Belting out "Bennie & The Jets" with the former idols (especially Naima, Jacob, Casey, and Stefano) rocking out with her - that was great! Did y'all see their faces? It wasn't fake - you could tell they were fans. I'd love to hear their opinion of the finale and who should/shouldn't have made it. I'm so afraid that next week is going to be boring.

It also made me glad (now) that Haley got voted off last night. Last night (and the last few result shows) was all about the person leaving. It was their swan song, their chance to go out with a bang. James did it, and so did Haley. That's what I'll remember. But next week, the finale, is all about the winner. I don't remember if there is anything for the loser to do (do they sing again?) but all the fanfare is for the winner (Scotty). Haley wasn't going to win anyhow, so I'm glad she got to go out in her own style.

and if this picture were reversed, many would be slamming Haley for smiling and clapping for herself. seriously, the girl can't win.

good grief. James was shocked last week. he thought he had it in the bag. he'd invited Steven Tyler to sing at the finale with him WEEKS ago. the judges told him it was his contest. he was shocked. but there was nowhere near the vitriol to him.

i'd say James and Haley are both confident in themselves. they are performers. they NEED to be confident. part of Lauren's problem is that she is not confident. Scotty is confident too. this is a competition. and all of them are there to win it. of course, there is going to be disappointment and shock when one gets eliminated. at least she reacted realistically.

another thought i had is that the most recent Idol success has been in the country genre. they may not be superstars, but they've had some success. i think Idol needs a star and the best odds are if a country Idol wins. so, Nigel has guaranteed he'll have one this way.

i don't think Haley had a shot to win it. i think it's been Scotty's to lose for weeks now (not that i think he is the best, nor is he my favorite). but it would've been nice to have two genres next week to mix it up. and neither Lauren or Scotty excited me as performers. i think they need to mature a bit more and be guided more before they get to that point. i'm not saying they can't get there, but they most definitely aren't there yet.

i wasn't an Adam fan, but he was a good performer. David Cook was a good performer. Blake Lewis was fun to watch. i didn't watch last year, so i can't comment on either of them.

and i am really disappointed in Steven Tyler. i had such high hopes for him. but his presence has been pretty much worthless as far as judging goes. sure, he was good for a few laughs. but he didn't say much that was helpful.

and the one time Randy did say something helpful/constructive/individual to that performance he got ripped to shreds for it. Idol in a nutshell, uses the performers who go on it. Some handle it with grace some do not.

Punched in the gut? Maybe...still, I found her to be quite graceless in defeat.

And I rewound the end several times. Haley comes back on stage to hug Scotty and Lauren and Lauren moves in to say something to Haley, and Haley wouldn't even look at her and turned away as Lauren was mid-sentence. It was painfully obvious and Lauren looked as though SHE'd been "punched in the gut".

Just wanted to make a comment after reading the last 2 pages...

My husband and I are Country music fans, although we like pop music too.

We both have iphones along with our 15 year old.

I'm rooting for Lauren, DH was rooting for Haley.

DD isn't really into it this year but likes all 3 of them.

My husband bought all the Haley songs and only a couple of Lauren and Scotty's.

He's 48 and I'm 45.

I have to admit that Haley grew on me and improved each week and I LOVED her song, "I Who have Nothing". Just beautiful. I even like it better than Jordan Spark's version.

I've enjoyed this season very much. I voted again. Last year, I barely watched and hated it. I never voted and only tuned in to the finale cause I was bored.

I've been watching AI since season one.

I'm very excited about the finale. I can't wait!! :cool1:

Go Lauren!! :cheer2:

I agree about Steven Tyler. A complete waste of time on the show. Now it's a choice between Hayseed and Miss. Piggy.

I just realized WHY I'm excited about the finale...

It means the season is over and we get to start over again! Better luck next year.

... Some handle it with grace some do not.

We all kind of get sorted out that way, huh? I certainly have had no grace in this thread.
I'm done with Idol this season. Neither of the kids left has anything special.
They've already started dressing Lauren like Loretta Lynn and she's only 16, poor thing.

Scotty, like I've said before, Roger Miller at best and there can and will be only ONE Roger Miller.

So for me, it's all down hill from here.

I didn't remember this so I went to rewatch it. From what I see, Haley comes back on stage with both arms open. She puts one arm around Lauren and the other arm around Scotty. Right as that was happening, Stephen comes on stage. Haley turns towards him.

I was never a fan of Haley's but to be fair, if she had continued with the hug, someone would be posting about how she snubbed Stephen. IMHO, she was really in a no-win situation with the people that don't like her. No matter what she did or didn't do, they would find fault in it.:sad2:

Have you been inside of my brain? ;)

I never thought about what you said - Lauren looking at Haley, smiling and clapping - you are so right about that one!

I said something yesterday about James being shocked, too. It didn't make me think horribly of him though. I didn't see any commets about his arrogance. And he did say something about saving something for the finale. I remember saying, "Whoa, that's kind of bold to say in week (?)" It was pretty early on. Again, didn't stop me from being a fan.

You're right - James and Haley have confidence. They both owned the stage when they performed. Actually, they both came to own the stage. They grew so much over the weeks of competition. Haley's swan song was awesome! I don't mean it was my favorite song of hers, but the way she worked the crowd and the camera.... I loved it!
