I just got home in time to see the end result.

I had a bad night. The 25 year old son of good friend died on Sunday and tonight was his wake. I kinda thought that was bit more important than Idol. That's why Scotty's 2nd song made me so weepy last night. :sad1:

i'm so sorry for your loss, Nancy.

i am not disappointed in Jacob leaving. i definitely think it was past time. i am amazed at how he keeps saying that "America fell in love with me." i'm sure he is a nice kid IRL, but he says things that make me wonder if he has developed a big head. he definitely needs a filter on some of what he says.

and i don't hate Haley. i think she needs some work on her stage presence. but most of them do. she's always throwing her arm in the air. Lauren always wiggles her hips. Scotty wiggles his eyebrows. those things are a little annoying, but i also realize that these are just kids. they aren't seasoned. Kelly always held her stomach and Carrie has a weird little wiggle she does too. quirky things...

i still don't see any of them being a mega star. :confused3

are JLo and Steven just on this season to push their music and books? JLo's pants were ridiculous. i don't get that look at all. there is a reason that the trend failed with MCHammer. it looks like one is wearing a diaper in those pants. but they were tighter on her behind too. just weird. and that song has maybe two notes in the entire song? impressive. she can dance though.

I'd like Lauren to go next, then James leaving a Scotty/Haley final with Scotty winning.

Then I'd like them to pick better contestants for next year. This is two years in a row with a rather lackluster bunch.

I agree. Whenever I see Lauren it makes me think of, I better not even mention it.

Charlie Brown - Scotty

Love Potion #9 - James

Stuck in the Middle with You - Haley

???? - Lauren

 How sad... I'm so sorry, Nancy.

Really hope final 3 will end up being Scotty, James, and Haley. I haven't liked Lauren too much since beginning and I felt she was being a diva during results night this week:snooty: She seems to be very full of herself and is convinced she is going to win, I don't like that. The other 3 seem to be very sweet people though who are not so full of themselves, and I honestly think the 3 of them are more talented then Laruen. Im not saying Lauren isn't talented, Im just saying that she is more common then the others and is less talented then them. Scotty, James, and Haley all are unique.

Im sure Scotty will do Hound Dog or Jailhouse rock this week, Im leaning more towards Jailhouse Rock but we will see!

I heard today that rumor has it Arista Nashville has already offered Scotty a record deal for when he leaves Idol if he doesnt win! He is honestly better off not winning in a way. He is better off not being tied down to Idol's record deal and being able to sign with Arista Nashville and get into the real country scene right away! But then again, it still would be nice to see him win.

UMG has first rights to him no matter what, then if they chose not to sign him then he can go to Arista. He won't be able to get an album out right away. It will take a good several months for that process. I don't see Lauren as a diva at all, she's young and this is her dream she got scared. In a few years she'll have more confidence and not be so scared but I didn't see a diva at all.

Nancy..so sorry for your loss

Regarding Lauren, she lacks the maturity to handle being AI. I felt she needed AI, more than the others, but have changed my opinion. Don't think, she can handle it.

Where did I say that he would have a record out immediately? I know that most records take time and in the past most people on idol have a record out in October or November of that year, winners and non winners. When I said that he would be better off signing with Artista I was not talking about time, I was talking about creativity. If he signs with Idol's record company then Idol tells him what to do and where to go. Scotty (as people on here have shown) would be much better getting to Nashville right away, something winning would not let him do. Scotty is sadly not going to appeal to a lot of people in L.A. like he would have to on Idol's label.Scotty is young too but he does not behave on stage like Lauren at all, I wasn't addressing just her crying either. It seems to me that everytime she speaks she is so full of herself and thinks she deserves to win, which she doesn't.

I think Haley needed Idol more then anyone else left. She has really evovled singing wise on the show. In the beginning I never thought she had the vocals to win the thing let alone make the top 10! But, now she could win. Haley needed Idol to be able to get better and better with instruction.

Carrie Underwood won Idol and she is total country- she didn't seem to have any problem selling records as an American Idol winner / Country singer!!!!

No matter which record company he signs with, he's gonna be told what to do- he's a newcomer and he's only 16.

Sorry but the comparison between Carrie Underwood and Scotty, vis a vis how "Country" they are, falls flat in my estimation. Carrie Underwood is 100% Country and some significant percentage - let's say 40% - pop. She has very substantial cross-over appeal that Scotty doesn't even want to have, by his own estimation.

She's marketed as country- she sings country songs-she's played on country stations- she's signed to a country label- she's identified and known as a country singer.
So yes, as far as winning AI and being marketed as and signed to a country label, it is possible, as evidenced by Carrie.

Hmm... I guess maybe I didn't explain what I meant well. Sorry about that. Here's an example of what I'm referring to: In November 2009, Carrie Underwood was #1 on the pop charts - not just the Country charts. Her music appeals to folks to otherwise claim that they hate Country music. There is no indication that her pop appeal is accidental. By comparison, it is really that Scotty has no interest in going down that path. The judges have made that observation themselves all season.

K, so I'm having surgery tomorrow and may have to still be in the hospital Wed night. I wonder if Haley will sound better when I'm on pain meds??? ;)

DDs and I already have a viewing plan in place in case I have to stay a 2nd night, I'm just hoping I feel up to yelling at the TV...

19 had a Nashville arm with RCA Nashville -- that is where Danny Gokey signed eventually. I assume 19 has another deal in place with their current label partner that includes a Nashville arm.

Exactly.

1. At least in the past, all of the Top 12 sign a contract with Idol/19/RCA that gave Idol the right to first refusal on a recording contract. Only when Idol turned them down, could they then go on to sign a deal with another label. Idol in the past also had deals with other labels such as Sony that enabled Adam Lambert to listen to an offer from them once he made it into the Top 4. So I doubt that a Scotty who does not win the title is 100% free to seek a deal with anyone he wants from the moment he is not declared the winner. After all, it's not in Idol's best interest to allow a non-winner to release an album funded and promoted by another label that precedes the winner's or competes directly with it or whose promotion undercuts the validity of the winner's win. They definitely want to keep that non-winner beholden to 19 so s/he does not cast the winner or Idol in a bad light.

2. No newcomer is given carte blanche. It's a business first and foremost and every album costs big bucks, so no way are is the label going to put that investment in the hands of a 16 year old kid, no matter how talented he may be. Moreover, very few established and proven acts are ever given carte blanche on a record funded by a major label. Avril Lavigne, for example, had a delayed album because her label did not feel the songs were radio-friendly hit material and finally had to cave and record the song that is her current single. If you want total creative control, you have to fund it yourself. And promote it yourself.

Carrie has 140%?

The Nashville arm this year is UMG which is Mercury, Lost Highway, MCA.

I also don't think Lauren deserves to win.
I also have not really cared for her ever since Hollywood week, when she sat Steven in the chair and sang and fawned all over him , I think it was during her group number?
thought it was creepy for a 15 yo to do that with a man old enough to be her grandpa

Go Lauren!!! :cool1:

I believe she's is by far the most talented of the group since I saw her that first day at auditions. I have absolutely NO doubt she will become the most famous of the bunch whether she wins on not. ::yes::
