I just got home in time to see the end result.
I had a bad night. The 25 year old son of good friend died on Sunday and tonight was his wake. I kinda thought that was bit more important than Idol. That's why Scotty's 2nd song made me so weepy last night.![]()

she can dance though.I'd like Lauren to go next, then James leaving a Scotty/Haley final with Scotty winning.
Then I'd like them to pick better contestants for next year. This is two years in a row with a rather lackluster bunch.

How sad... I'm so sorry, Nancy.
She seems to be very full of herself and is convinced she is going to win, I don't like that. The other 3 seem to be very sweet people though who are not so full of themselves, and I honestly think the 3 of them are more talented then Laruen. Im not saying Lauren isn't talented, Im just saying that she is more common then the others and is less talented then them. Scotty, James, and Haley all are unique.Really hope final 3 will end up being Scotty, James, and Haley. I haven't liked Lauren too much since beginning and I felt she was being a diva during results night this weekShe seems to be very full of herself and is convinced she is going to win, I don't like that. Im sure Scotty will do Hound Dog or Jailhouse rock this week, Im leaning more towards Jailhouse Rock but we will see!
I heard today that rumor has it Arista Nashville has already offered Scotty a record deal for when he leaves Idol if he doesnt win! He is honestly better off not winning in a way. He is better off not being tied down to Idol's record deal and being able to sign with Arista Nashville and get into the real country scene right away! But then again, it still would be nice to see him win.

UMG has first rights to him no matter what, then if they chose not to sign him then he can go to Arista. He won't be able to get an album out right away. It will take a good several months for that process. I don't see Lauren as a diva at all, she's young and this is her dream she got scared. In a few years she'll have more confidence and not be so scared but I didn't see a diva at all.
If he signs with Idol's record company then Idol tells him what to do and where to go. Scotty (as people on here have shown) would be much better getting to Nashville right away, something winning would not let him do. Scotty is sadly not going to appeal to a lot of people in L.A. like he would have to on Idol's label..

Exactly. No matter which record company he signs with, he's gonna be told what to do- he's a newcomer and he's only 16.
Carrie has 140%?Carrie Underwood is 100% Country and some significant percentage - let's say 40% - pop. She has very substantial cross-over appeal

19 had a Nashville arm with RCA Nashville -- that is where Danny Gokey signed eventually. I assume 19 has another deal in place with their current label partner that includes a Nashville arm.
Exactly.
1. At least in the past, all of the Top 12 sign a contract with Idol/19/RCA that gave Idol the right to first refusal on a recording contract. Only when Idol turned them down, could they then go on to sign a deal with another label. Idol in the past also had deals with other labels such as Sony that enabled Adam Lambert to listen to an offer from them once he made it into the Top 4. So I doubt that a Scotty who does not win the title is 100% free to seek a deal with anyone he wants from the moment he is not declared the winner. After all, it's not in Idol's best interest to allow a non-winner to release an album funded and promoted by another label that precedes the winner's or competes directly with it or whose promotion undercuts the validity of the winner's win. They definitely want to keep that non-winner beholden to 19 so s/he does not cast the winner or Idol in a bad light.
2. No newcomer is given carte blanche. It's a business first and foremost and every album costs big bucks, so no way are is the label going to put that investment in the hands of a 16 year old kid, no matter how talented he may be. Moreover, very few established and proven acts are ever given carte blanche on a record funded by a major label. Avril Lavigne, for example, had a delayed album because her label did not feel the songs were radio-friendly hit material and finally had to cave and record the song that is her current single. If you want total creative control, you have to fund it yourself. And promote it yourself.
